Local owner-operated retail outlets (LOOROs) are struggling worldwide due to increasing online competition with e-marketplaces and changing customer behavior. In this competitive environment, Local Shopping Platforms (LSPs) seem to be a promising vehicle to help LOOROs overcome their manifold digitalization difficulties. The development of LSPs in China shows that they convince LOOROs to join them and attract customers through their locationdependent service offers. In contrast, German LSPs struggle to utilize locational advantages, and LOOROs are discouraged from joining them. Hence, this paper examines existingChinese LSP and compares themwith German LSPs. Moreover, this study uses Hofstede's cultural dimension as a theoretical lens to investigate if the offered location-dependent services among German and Chinese are culturally driven. The results revealed that Chinese LSPs better understand how to provide services that integrate the store as a customer touchpoint and strengthen the locational advantage of LOOROs. Regarding Hofstede's cultural dimension, uncertainty avoidance is a cultural barrier for German LSPs and LOORO to try new digital services compared to their more adaptable Chinese counterparts.

Process modeling is used to understand a business process and to document requirements, but is mostly formalized and limited to modeling experts. This can be a problem when designing interactive systems that incorporate AI elements, since the design can fail to take into account tacit knowledge and context-specific requirements of people that execute the process. While recent discourse has highlighted this gap and called for an exploration into light-weight, grassroots modeling techniques that can be used to model everyday work, it is still unclear how these can be harnessed to design information systems that support work. The aim of this paper is to showcase how a triangulated approach combining three different perspectives - grassroots modeling, theoretical grounding, and first person media, can be used to collaboratively model an informal work activity and design an AI-enabled system to instruct novices to perform that activity. Our experience confirms the assertion that, when provided with the necessary scaffolding, experts without any formal modeling experience can be supported to model their specific, local activities and, in doing so, contribute valuable knowledge to the design of information systems.

information Systems (IS) of modern organizations and enterprises often rely on a network of partners' IS to deliver the services. The resilience of this network is the necessary condition for the operation of such ISs. The Digital business Ecosystem (DBE) theory has emerged as an approach to ensure functioning and resilience in dynamic and open networks. This paper presents three cases of analysis of resilience of DBEs. The objective of the analysis is to assess the resilience of DBEs during its design phase. During this phase, often, only structural information presented in ISs models is available. In order to assess the resilience, the DBE models are analyzed for the potential for fulfilment of typical ecosystem goals and roles. The three DBE cases analyzed are winter road maintenance, digital vaccine, and Covid-19 testing. The paper evaluates the resilience of the DBEs and formulates the practices for uncovering and strengthening it.

Automated scriptless testing approaches use Action Selection Rules (ASR) to generate on-the-fly test sequences when testing a software system. Currently, these rules are manually designed and implemented. In this paper we present our research on how to automatically create ASRs by evolving them using an evolutionary algorithm. Expected results are an automated system for Evolutionary Scriptless Testing containing a representation of ASRs, different fitness functions and manipulation operators.

Infobesity presents a challenge in the information age, necessitating business intelligence systems for conducting business. The information age is also characterized by organizations spread across culturally different countries, which gain performance benefits from multiple national cultures. We study the effect of business Intelligence Systems and Multiple National Cultures within the context of the Covid-19 pandemic that resulted in the erosion of market value of firms. We propose that though firms that used business Intelligence Systems or benefitted from Multiple National Cultures exhibited better performance, the concurrent occurrence of these two phenomena resulted in a weakened effect on performance. Our econometric analysis of Fortune 500 firms finds strong support for our theory. Wemake significant contributions to the e-business literature within the information systems discipline and to broader inter-disciplinary management research.

Over the past decade, robotic process automation (RPA) has emerged as a lightweight paradigm for automation in business enterprises, making automation more accessible to non-techie business users. In the industry, RPA vendors have not only provided out-of-the-box RPA bots to automate manual tasks on legacy software;they have also provided users a recorder to create their own bots for specialized tasks. However, if these recorders do not create generalizable bots, users risk facing a "bot sprawl" and governance problem. Building generalizable bots currently requires intervention from IT departments which are typically oversubscribed given their limited resources. Furthermore, the generalization process is typically long and tedious;it does not scale to cover the expansive needs of business users. We thus need a tool that can empower business users to act as citizen developers and build generalized bots themselves. In this work, we argue that the next generation of RPA bots must leverage artificial intelligence to learn from user interactions (through natural language or other modalities intuitive to citizen developers) and generalize to unseen settings. To achieve this, we first survey and assess the current state of the art in the RPA field for enabling citizen developers;and identify several key research challenges at the intersection of AI, RPA, and interactive task learning that must be addressed to realize the vision of RPA bots that continually learn new automation solutions from user interactions.

In 2020 the new ITIL v4 standard was introduced. ITIL standardization had and still has a big influence on how IT-Service Management is seen and performed in practice. Thus, the new standard is expected to have a high impact as well. A key element of ITIL v4 is the strong focus on Stakeholder Value in Service Design. Yet apart from ITIL, stakeholder orientation is a current trend in business analysis. This work provides a Systematic Literature Analysis with regard to approaches that allow value modeling for IT-Services. As a result, no approach that fits all requirements inherent in the ITIL v4 standard and IT Service Design could be identified. However, a set of requirements that should be considered when developing methods, notations, and tools for IT-Service Value modeling is derived.

Ontology-driven conceptual models are widely used to capture information about complex and critical domains. Therefore, it is essential for these models to be comprehensible and cognitively tractable. Over the years, different techniques for complexity management in conceptual models have been suggested. Among these, a prominent strategy is model abstraction. This work extends an existing strategy for model abstraction of OntoUML models that proposes a set of graph-rewriting rules leveraging on the ontological semantics of that language. That original work, however, only addresses a set of the ontological notions covered in that language. We review and extend that rule set to cover more generally types of objects, aspects, events, and their parts.

Fake News have become a global phenomenon due to its explosive growth, particularly on social media. How to identify fake news is becoming an extremely attractive working domain. The lack of a sound, well-grounded conceptual characterization of what exactly a Fake news is and what are its main features, makes difficult to manage Fake News understanding, identification and creation. In this research we propose that conceptual modeling must play a crucial role to characterize Fake News content in a precise way. Only clearly delimiting what a Fake News is, it will be possible to understand and managing their different perspectives and dimensions, with the final purpose of developing any reliable framework for online Fake News detection as much automated as possible. This paper discusses the effort that should be made towards a precise conceptual model of Fake News and its relation with an XAI approach.
