A current practice in academia is to reward researchers for achieving outstanding performance. Although intended to boost productivity, such a practice also promotes competitiveness and could lead to unethical behavior. This position paper exposes common misconducts that arise when researchers try to game the system. It calls the research community to take preventive actions to reduce misconduct and treat such a pervasive environment with proper acknowledgment of researchers' efforts and rewards on quality rather than quantity.

Open data is an integral part of Smart City projects carried out around the world. A public transport network is widely used when it is safe, well designed and reliable. The development and maintenance of the urban transport are key items in city budgets. Decisions regarding changes and the future organization of the public transport are supported mainly by Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS). There are many challenges, and one of them is the bus electro-mobility revolution. European leaders encourage a faster transformation to sustainable economy by introducing incentives and directives followed by EU funding. As a result cities replace aged fleets of diesel buses with the electric ones. A zero emission buses network is a new technology for public operators. It involves investments in chargers integrated to electric grids and the introduction of new maintenance processes. Each investment project that aims to introduce that innovative eco-friendly solution is preceded by feasibility studies. Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) is one of the crucial measure for making business decision. To calculate a proper configuration of chargers and fleet of buses, knowledge of specific operational conditions is necessary. That includes analysis of Open Data such as route characteristics, weather and dynamic traffic conditions. The paper review the existing literature with regard to utilization of Open Data by public transport operators to analyze scalability and operation efficiency of the electric buses. The Open Data used in the recent studies are characterized, classified and analyzed. Moreover, the examples of Open Data sources and platforms that might be used by decision makers are provided.

As sustainability becomes a fundamental concern in software development, it is important to understand how industry is addressing it. This paper discusses the results of a survey performed in industry aiming at identifying their current needs and practices to handle sustainability in agile software development. The survey includes an initial section to gather participants' information, followed by a section inquiring about the impact of sustainability on their working environment, and which methods and tools are used. The enquired population is a small subset of the IT professionals in Portugal. The main findings include lack of methods, tools, knowledge and domain experts to support elicitation and specification of sustainability requirements. Still, the participants recognise that one of the main reasons to consider sustainability is for the improvement of product quality and for creating a good reputation.

Blockchain Systems provide highly welcome properties such as immutability, observability, availability, and distribution for implementing smart contracts without the need for intermediaries. While the smart contract goals of observability and enforceability can easily be achieved on blockchains, the goal of privity is much harder to tackle. In the context of smart contracts on blockchains, privity aims in limiting the spread of knowledge to the participants with a contractual need-to know. However, limiting access to data can limit the possible degrees of proactive enforcement of correct decisions and it can negatively impact their availability. Therefore, it can be required to find a proper balance between privity and enforceability or availability requirements. Designers may be forced to include additional participants (confidants) in the decision process only for the sake of enforceability or availability. In this paper, we introduce measures for assessing the impact of confidants for decisions within smart contracts on privacy. We model smart contracts in form of inter-organizational business processes and provide modeling constructs for privity requirements and the inclusion of confidants.

We present methods for applying controlled natural language (CNL) and Semantic Web user interfaces to make rapid prototypes of business rule-based systems. This helps system developers quickly demonstrate design choices to stakeholders. CNLs provide a balance between understandability for laypersons and unambiguous specificity for programmers. Executable CNLs generate rudimentary systems automatically and thus quickly, which suits rapid prototyping. The Semantic Web provides a wide range of free and open tools for standardized forms of data representation and logic, whose potential application includes business rules. We identify several general categories of business rules that each map to a core form of Semantic Web logic that can implement it. This work then presents prototyping methods that apply these mappings. Different Semantic Web software interface components demonstrate different aspects of each form of logic. The Semantic Web ontology editor Protege illustrates our methods, but any equivalent Semantic Web software can apply. Example rapid prototypes in Protege from the frequently used fictional business rules case EU-Rent serve here as illustrative scenarios that evaluate our methods.

User-generated product reviews are valuable information resources about what users like about the product, their pain points, and overall product use cases. This information is valuable for product developers and designers for future product improvements. This research paper discusses the user journey mapping approach for analyzing product reviews. It proposes a method for structuring large amounts of user reviews and putting them on the journey map, classifying touchpoints, pain points, and product advantages. Machine learning algorithms on Apple Earpods Max noise-canceling headphone reviews are used to classify user-generated product reviews and validate the journey map. Created journey map showed a positive potential for the given approach to make sense of large amounts of user-generated content and give quantifiable proof of a user journey map.

Decision makers increasingly rely on decision support systems for optimal decision making. Recently, special attention has been paid to process-driven decision support systems (PD-DSS) in which a process model prescribes the invocation sequence of software-based decision support services and the data exchange between them. Thus, it is possible to quickly combine available decision support services as needed for optimally supporting the decision making process of an individual decision maker. However, process modelers may accidentally create a process model which is technically well-formed and executable, but contains functional and behavioral flaws such as redundant or missing services. These flaws may result in inefficient computations or invalid decision recommendations when the corresponding PD-DSS is utilized by a decision maker. In this paper, we therefore propose an approach to validate functionality and behavior of a process model representing a PD-DSS. Our approach is based on expressing flaws as anti-patterns for which the process model can be automatically checked via graph matching. We prototypically implemented our approach and demonstrate its applicability in the context of decision making for energy network planning.

Within the field of process mining, conformance checking plays an important role. While conformance checking initially mainly served as a way to explain the difference between an event log and a discovered process model, it since has evolved to a field of study in which the aim is to understand the relation between observed and modelled behaviour in the context of an abstract process. So far, however, the focus has mainly been on the relation between an observed instance of a process and a model of that process. In other words, conformance checking considers the relation between a single observed instance of a process and a model of that process. In this keynote, we advocate a systemic view on conformance checking. Through a series of examples, we show how a single-instance perspective would result in overlooking deviations and we provide initial ideas to resolve this and we show the theoretic framework to overcome these challenges.

According to the process acceptance theory, the acceptance of processes can have an influence on their correct execution. If deviations and manipulations of processes of any kind are to be excluded, it is necessary to understand which factors lead to a change in acceptance. To this end an experimental study is conducted to investigate the influence of self-healing in case of process error. A generic purchasing process is implemented and made available online. The acquisition of participants takes place via the crowdsourcing platform Amazon's Mechanical Turk. Process acceptance is measured by means of a questionnaire in the three dimensions of attitude (cognitive, affective and conative). The study shows that there is a significant difference in acceptance between processes with and without self-healing in the cognitive dimension. The results of the tests indicate that self-healing is not automatically more accepted than repeated manual effort. A tentative explanation is that a loss of participants' control of the process leads to this apparently counterintuitive result.

Natural language processing is used for solving a wide variety of problems. Some scholars and interest groups working with language resources are not well versed in programming, so there is a need for a good graphical framework that allows users to quickly design and test natural language processing pipelines without the need for programming. The existing frameworks do not satisfy all the requirements for such a tool. We, therefore, propose a new framework that provides a simple way for its users to build language processing pipelines. It also allows a simple programming language agnostic way for adding new modules, which will help the adoption by natural language processing developers and researchers. The main parts of the proposed framework consist of (a) a pluggable Docker-based architecture, (b) a general data model, and (c) APIs description along with the graphical user interface. The proposed design is being used for implementation of a new natural language processing framework, called ANGLEr.
