"A picture isworth more than a thousandwords" may be said of process models, using the words of business and IT leaders. business Process Model and Notation (BPMN) is a de facto standard used for business process modelling that helps flexible and responsive understanding, analysis and communication of business processes and inter-organisational collaborations. Despite the importance, there are significant gaps in providing empirically justified and systematic pedagogy in teaching process modelling. The research seeks to cover the gap through the systematic literature review of the broader area of conceptual modelling, analysis of novice modellers' common errors and patterns, design of learning goals and course design of process modelling and validating the result using experiments.

business Process Management and Routine Dynamics are two streams of research that both explore process. To this end, business Process Management has developed a rich array of methods that can be used to analyze digital trace data. Routine Dynamics has put less emphasis on the analysis of digital trace data, but it has advanced a methodological approach that promotes discovery, i.e., the process that actors perform and experience as they develop novel insights. This paper argues that the analysis of digital trace data can promote the process of discovery. It uses heatmapping as a specific example to show how analyzing digital trace data can promote discovery. The paper thus emphasizes a specific way how business Process Management and Routine Dynamics can fertilize each other.

Digital transformation affects not only IT and innovative business models and processes, it is significantly influenced by the skills and competence of top managers and new requirements and expectations of customers. The basic driver of ongoing digital transformation in any organization is performed with the active support of the Chief information Officer, Chief information Security Officer, Chief Technology Officer, Chief Digital Officer, or their cooperation work. Depending on the organization/company size, the number of these chiefs could be reduced and corresponding responsibilities merged. To this end, it is necessary to identify the main responsibilities and to clarify the existing hierarchy between them. To assess the progress of the digitalization process, the article proposes a multi-criteria mathematical model, the essence of which is the consideration of both objective and subjective criteria. The realized numerical application through five objective and eight subjective criteria demonstrate the applicability of described approach.

Industry 4.0 calls for end-to-end digital integration of supply chains and a new boundary-spanning logic of process design. The shift is from shared operation to shared transformation. Design science research was chosen to (1) propose an approach for interorganizational business processes improvement in decentralized contexts of Industry 4.0 (IOBP 4.0) and (2) draft a BPMN extension for IOBP 4.0. The results are relevant to guide the fourth industrial revolution with increasingly shared and digitalized business processes. For theory, our work contributes to the emerging business process management logic of digital transformation: support for coordinated touchpoints, flexible infrastructure, and empowered participants. For practice, we propose a continuous improvement approach for IOBP 4.0 that ensures manufacturing visibility in collaboration networks. Managing the punctuated equilibrium of boundary-spanning business processes will be a priority for this decade.

This paper is the first to examine the reaction of the cryptocurrency market to COVID-19 in terms of volatility resilience. Seven GARCH-type models are used to measure, predict, and audit the volatility behavior of the most eminent cryptocurrencies that represent almost 60% of the total crypto market namely, Bitcoin (BTC), Ripple (XRP), Litecoin (LTC), Monero (XMR), Dash (DASH), and Dogecoin (DOGE). The in-sample period extends from January 1, 2015 up to November 30, 2019 and the out-of-sample period covers the COVID-19 period spanning from December 1, 2019 up to April 6, 2021. Results showed that CGARCH (1,1) and GARCH (1,1) are the prevailing models to forecast the volatility of Bitcoin and Ripple respectively in both the in- and outof-sample periods and that advanced GARCH models appear to better predict asymmetries in cryptocurrencies' volatilities pre and post COVID-19. Also, the COVID-19 contributed in significantly affecting the volatility of Bitcoin, Ripple, Monero and Dash.

Robotic Process Automation (RPA) is a frequently used approach for automation in IT systems. RPA uses existing graphical user interfaces to automate simple, rule-based tasks from a user's perspective. Before automation can be accomplished using RPA, extensive knowledge about individual user interactions must be gathered. This information is represented in a flowchart by a human designer, which is then typically refined in a trial-and-error approach. This approach becomes time consuming and error-prone as processes become more complex. In parallel, Process Discovery techniques as part of Process Mining enable the automated generation of process models from event logs. Thus, they are considered appropriate to simplify and automate the described creation of flowcharts in the context of RPA. In this regard, the so-called UI logs are particularly relevant. These can be used to record user interactions with various user interfaces within a process. This paper examines existing Process Discovery methods for application in the context of RPA. The goal is to clarify what is needed for the automatic creation of RPA flowcharts with Process Discovery on the basis of UI logs. The results show that existing Process Discovery methods generate process models that are not suitable for immediate translation into RPA flowcharts, as they are mainly control flow oriented. For the creation of RPA flowcharts that are suitable for automation, the integration of linked data is fundamental. Therefore, a prototypical implementation demonstrates a method that enables the automated translation of a process model into an RPA flowchart.

DevOps is a set of organizational practices as well as a culture which tries to eliminate the barriers between the Devs and Ops teams, improve the collaboration and communication among teammates. DevOps is used in different organizations because it supports quicker production, stability and reliability for software development. While the success factors of DevOps adoption have been studied in the extant literature, also the perceived challenges that a company faces during the adoption are crucial to discover. This paper explores and highlights these challenges through an open ended survey (N = 15) and in-depth interviews with DevOps professionals (N = 16). According to the findings, there are various challenges while implementing DevOps in the organizations. The research suggests that (i) lack of team coordination, (ii) risky change and development, (iii) team members expertise level, (iv) lack of focus or differences in development, (v) test and production environment, (vi) poorly defined functional and technical requirements, (vii) poor integration and test process, (viii) pipeline execution problems, (ix) tools integration challenges, (x) people challenges and silo-ed thinking, (xi) debugging challenges due to remote execution, (xii) feature release challenges, (xiii) integrating new standards, (xiv) challenges with clients, (xv) knowledge sharing, (xvi) responsibility distribution issues are the challenges while using DevOps. The founded list of perceived challenges will help future research to suggest mitigation and risk management strategies for successful use of DevOps.

Organizations operating in Industry 4.0 and 5.0 use both ERP and BPMSsystems. As recently as 10-15 years ago, the reasons behind using these two classes of systems were different. ERPs were used to manage the organization's resources, and BPMS - to support the implementation of business processes, often understood as work or document flows. However, as a result of digital transformation, both business needs as well as ERP and BPMS vendors responding thereto made these two classes of systems overlap to an increasing degree. Thus, the aim of this article is to answer the question: Are we heading towards process-based ERP systems or is the future in the flexible, open integration of postmodernERP and iBPMS? The authors conducted a narrative literature review and content analysis of 88 ERP systems offered on the Polish market. As a result, 11 ERP systems containing functionalities specific to BPMS were identified. Further, to define the essence of the transformation of ERP into process-based ERP systems, 5 expert interviews were conducted, which allowed for the formulation of two approaches to this transformation: the integration of ERP systems with iBPMS as an external subsystem taking over the implementation of selected business processes based on metadata and data of the ERP system;or process management within the ERP system by enabling the configuration of selected processes in ERP subsystems or modules based on a repository of process models, e.g. in BPMN.

European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) is a pan-European environment providing researchers with a plethora or publicly-available, open resources and services to help them conduct their research. Availability of publications, datasets, computational power, networks or storage allows researchers to concentrate on their research rather than the technical infrastructures. However, the plenitude and diversity of items offered in EOSC increases and becomes overwhelming for researchers who expect guidance and support. Recommender systems allow them to assign rankings to subject object, based on their value for specific end users, inferred from diverse data about them, their behaviour or various relationships between users and objects. In this paper we present architectural and functional challenges related to the EOSC Recommender System that could substantially improve the experience of researchers using EOSC offerings.

The problems of "time-to-event' data analysis explore data of processes with the defined end point of time when an explored event occurs. The methods of survival modelling, hazard analysis, risk evaluation are combined for understanding and exploring these data. In this article the time-to-event modelling addresses in-hospital mortality of stroke patients. The clinical data of stroke cases is explored based on the historical records of neurology department of Clinical Centre in Montenegro. The main aim of the research is to explore survival techniques for getting insights from the stroke clinical data with the goal of identifying impact of the variables for the predictive research. The time-to-event data does not follow the normal distribution, thus limiting application of major methods of analysis. In the article the survival analysis techniques such as Life table, Kaplan-Meier survival plot and the Cox proportional hazards regression model are applied for exploring stroke data.
