Personal data has been described as the "the new oil of the Internet." The global data monetization market is projected to increase to USD 6.1bn by 2025, and the success of giants like Facebook or Google speaks for itself. Almost all companies create, store, share and/or use personal data i.e. information from or about individuals. While the current assumption is that data subjects voluntarily share their data in exchange for a "free" service, the awareness of the value of personal data and data sovereignty is growing amongst consumers, businesses, and regulators alike. However, there is currently no consensus on which factors influence the value of personal data and how personal data should be priced regarding self-determination and data sovereignty. With this narrative review, we answer the following research question: Which factors influence the pricing of personal data? We show that research on the subject is diverse and that there is no consensus on the optimal pricing mechanism. We identify individual privacy and risk preferences, informational self-determination, sensitivity of data and data volume and inferability as most prevalent influence factors. We underline the need to establish ways for data owners to exercise data sovereignty and informed consent about data usage.

The rapid development of ICT has enabled services that did not exist before. Such services include shared vehicles like e-scooters, which offer a quick and simple mobility. A method of analysis for e-scooter and client collaboration is offered to detect e-scooter and client collaboration risks when e-scooter is used concurrently by many clients. The method provides for the creation of an exact description of e-scooter and customer cooperation processes, from which e-scooter and all-executable scenarios are created through symbolic execution. When analyzing the results of scenario execution, e-scooter and client collaboration risks are identified. The obtained result allows e-scooter system developers to prevent or mitigate identified risks, while customers have the possibility to use new transport services effectively but knowing the potential risks.

The main purpose of this paper is to represent how knowledge-based Enterprise Model (EM) as problem domain data storage may be used in information Systems (IS) engineering process. Enterprise Meta-Model (EMM) presented more than two decades ago justifies EM structure. EM stores problem domain data gathered by analyst and this EM structure can be used for project models creation in IS design phase. Unified Modeling Language (UML) models are one of the possible models, which can be generated from EM. These models can be generated through transformation algorithms. To present possibility of UML models generation from EM particular problem domain example is defined in this paper. Presented example demonstrates that data stored in EM is enough for different UML models generation and this paper presents that different UML behavioral models can be generated from EM and can illustrate same problem domain from different perspectives.

Detection and characterization of polarization are of major interest in Social Network Analysis, especially to identify conflictual topics that animate the interactions between users. As gatekeepers of their community, users in the boundaries significantly contribute to its polarization. We propose ERIS, a formal graph approach relying on community boundaries and users' interactions to compute two metrics: the community antagonism and the porosity of boundaries. These values assess the degree of opposition between communities and their aversion to external exposure, allowing an understanding of the overall polarization through the behaviors of the different communities. We also present an implementation based on matrix computations, freely available online. Our experiments show a significant improvement in terms of efficiency in comparison to existing solutions. Finally, we apply our proposal on real data harvested from Twitter with a case study about the vaccines and the COVID-19.

Self-Sovereign Identity (SSI) is a privacy-preserving identity paradigm where users own and manage their digital identities. SSI is also referred to as blockchain identity, as it is commonly implemented using distributed ledger technologies. In this work, we describe the problem of schema matching on blockchain-based SSI implementations, systematically review the literature for tools that attack this problem, introduce a novel solution, and empirically compare it with the works reported from our literature review. Our solution uses pre-trained word vectors to find semantic similarities between user queries and schemas on the blockchain. Experimental evaluation shows that it outperforms existing solutions regarding queries that approach natural language.

The environmental impact of products is an important factor in buying decisions of customers and it is also an increasing concern of law makers. Hence, companies are interested in determining the ecological footprint of their products. Life-cycle assessment (LCA) is a standardized method for computing the ecological footprint of a product. Today, LCA is usually not computed in real-time and neither is LCA using actual sensor data: in contrast it is computed "offline" using "historic" values based on exemplary measurements. With the rise of the Internet of Things (IoT), LCA computations can be based on actual production processes. While an LCA based on actual sensor data is desirable from an ecological perspective, it also can reveal trade secrets, e.g., details about production processes or business relationships. In this paper, we present an approach, using secure multi-party computation, to enable the confidential data sharing required for an LCA computation using sensor data.

Blockchain has been proposed to facilitate the enactment of interorganisational business processes. For such processes, blockchain can guarantee the enforcement of rules and the integrity of execution traces-without the need for a centralised trusted party. However, the enactment of interorganisational processes pose manifold challenges. In this work, we ask what answers the research field offers in response to those challenges. To do so, we conduct a systematic literature review (SLR). As our guiding question, we investigate the guarantees and capabilities of blockchain-based enactment approaches. Based on this SLR, we develop a taxonomy for blockchain-based enactment. We find that a wide range of approaches support traceability and correctness;however, research focusing on flexibility and scalability remains nascent. For all challenges, we point towards future research opportunities.

Our article provides insights into which critical success factors (CSFs) for digital transformation projects are considered particularly relevant from the perspective of companies. To this end, we used an online survey addressing German companies with an existing set of CSFs. The aim of our study was to obtain a practice-oriented ranking to derive approaches for further research into CSFs in digital transformation. Our study shows that it is primarily CSFs in the dimensions of Corporate organization and Technology that are considered to be particularly relevant. For example, when asked about important CSFs, the companies stated that digital transformation projects require besides other factors a suitable Corporate culture, Top management support, and a Unified digital corporate strategy/vision. Thereby, this article contributes to CSF research in the context of digital transformation with profound experience and orientation knowledge. This will make it possible to develop practical recommendations for action and assistance in shaping the digital transformation.

Decision models are increasingly being used in modeling business processes. Hence, extracting decision models automatically from texts would help decision modellers by reducing modeling time and supporting them in their analysis. In this paper, deep learning techniques are investigated to extract decision dependencies and conditional clauses directly from text. By using a large dataset of labeled and tagged sentences and NLP, deep learning techniques (BERT and BI-LSTM-CRF) are trained and tested on the identification of these items. The results show that the performance is sufficiently high to extract decision dependency and logic (semi)-automatically from text which provides a big step towards automatic decision modelling.

Process mining starts from event data. The ordering of events is vital for the discovery of process models. However, the timestamps of events may be unreliable or imprecise. To further complicate matters, also causally unrelated events may be ordered in time. The fact that one event is followed by another does not imply that the former causes the latter. This paper explores the relationship between time and order. Moreover, it describes an approach to preprocess event data having timestamp-related problems. This approach avoids using accidental or unreliable orders and timestamps, creates partial orders to capture uncertainty, and allows for exploiting domain knowledge to (re)order events. Optionally, the approach also generates interleavings to be able to use existing process mining techniques that cannot handle partially ordered event data. The approach has been implemented using ProM and can be applied to any event log.
