Today, the business requirements of consumer are often very complex, requiring a composition of multiple component cloud services to create new composite value-added applications. In the process of cloud service composition, service composability forms the basis of the efficient development of emerging composite services. Developing such services is a challenging task due to the lack of tools and techniques for understanding the composability relationships among component cloud services, which influence the whole composite service's efficiency. In this paper, we propose a composability model for cloud services that characterize the composition relationships among services. We propose a set of composability rules which compare the semantic features of cloud services to verify the interconnection of them. Our proposed model deals essentially with functional and technical cloud services aspects. These rules compare the capabilities and requirements of cloud services to determine whether two services are composable.

This manuscript proposes a five-step methodology that enables the mapping of perceived spatial qualities. To achieve such a goal, crowdsourcing and neural network methods were used. Crowdsourcing enables gathering data from people, and neural networks facilitate extending that knowledge to perform automatic classifications. The proposed method is then applied in the implementation of two use cases: perceived safety and perceived atmosphere of urban spaces. The use cases were conducted in the frame of the project Streetwise with a project partner that had the goal of creating the first maps of perceived spatial quality in Switzerland. The results obtained from the use cases showed that the application of the proposed methodology grants capturing the perceptions of a collective accurately.

Contextualisation is an important challenge in process mining. While Internet of Things (IoT) devices are collecting more and more data on the physical context in which business processes are executed, the IoT and process mining fields are still considerably disintegrated. Important concepts, such as event or context, are not understood in the same way, which causes confusion and hinders cooperation between the two domains. Based on IoT ontologies and business process context models, this paper proposes a model to bridge the conceptualisation gap between the IoT and the process mining fields. The model defines the necessary concepts and relationships to build process mining techniques that take the physical context into account. As a first validation, the model is used to describe a lifelike process example, showing how IoT data and process events are related. Using this conceptualisation, both practitioners and researchers from the IoT and the process mining communities can reason about the use of IoT data in process mining and find support for data understanding, event abstraction and IoT and process data integration.

Card walls are often used to visualize various aspects of the software development process. They are an essential and widespread agile practice. Despite the drawback of physical card walls, its digital version is often not considered a sufficient alternative. This paper aims to find the reason for this and suggests how to evolve digital card walls into a viable alternative. We conducted a systematic literature review and analyzed twenty-two studies. We identified which desirable effects agile teams get from card wall usage and derived a set of properties a card wall needs to achieve those effects. Furthermore, we suggested a typology of card walls to compare the benefits and challenges among them.

Knowledge gained by meta-learning processes is valuable when it can be successfully used in solving algorithm selection problems. There is still strong need for automated tools for learning from data, performing model construction and selection with little or no effort from human operator. This article provides evidence for efficacy of a general meta-learning algorithm performing validations of candidate learning methods and driving the search for most attractive models on the basis of an analysis of learning results profiles. The profiles help in finding similar processes performed for other datasets and pointing to promising learning machines configurations. Further research on profile management is expected to bring very attractive automated tools for learning from data. Here, several components of the framework have been examined and an extended test performed to confirm the possibilities of the method. The discussion also touches on the subject of testing and comparing the results of meta-learning algorithms.

Capability maps aim to provide a business or organization with an overview of what it can achieve. As such, capability maps are touted as means for business innovation and planning. However, several types of capability maps exist, with different conceptual backgrounds and levels of integration with enterprise architecture frameworks. In this paper, we characterize and compare three capability maps - Beimborn, VDML, and TOGAF. We base the comparison on a capability map analysis model. Using the analysis model, we highlight the differences in how the capability maps are integrated into enterprise architecture frameworks and linked to concepts such as organizational units, processes, and business models.

Traditionally requirements for information Systems are considered as functional and non-functional. However, with current omnipresent Digital Technologies, we believe that new requirements dealing with individuals' well-being are emerging. We call them sentient requirements using the term from the animal rights protection field. In this paper, we analyze the existing literature to understand better the deep nature of humans' interactions with digital technologies and we introduce sentient requirements. It is based on a literature review including scientific and science-fiction literature. We apply these requirements to improve user experience in museums through a visiting game as a use case. Our proposal could be used by researchers and practitioners to enforce the design of information Systems in various application fields to provide a better interaction between humans and digital technologies.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is influencing almost every area of modern life from entertainment, commerce, and healthcare to organizations internal processes operations. Netflix knows what movies and series people want to watch, Amazon knows when and where people like to shop, and Google knows what users are looking for. All this information may be utilized to create very comprehensive personal profiles, which can be useful not just for behavioral analysis and targeting, but also for forecasting economic trends, political changes and for understanding people's attitude towards different topics. There is a lot of hope that AI could lead to significant breakthroughs in all aspects of life. It can help in organizing public administration institutions' internal processes as well as urban development and/or transformation. In this article, the author considers both of those directions similarly important to citizens and provides a list of political, economic and administrative benefits in using AI applications in public organizations (at local, regional or national levels). Several ethical considerations regarding the use of AI and its potential impact on the current labor market are included in the discussion section.

Scalability has always been a challenge in software development, and agile methods have faced their own ordeal in this regard. The classic solution is to use modeling to manage the complexities of the system while facilitating intrateam and inter-team communication;however, agile methods tend to shy away from modeling to avoid its adverse effect on productivity. Model-driven development (MDD) has shown great potential for automatic code generation, thereby enhancing productivity, but the agile community seems unconvinced that this gain in productivity justifies the extra effort required for modeling. The challenge that the MDD community faces today is to incorporate MDD in agile development methodologies in such a way that agility is tangibly and convincingly preserved. In this paper, we address this challenge by using a service-oriented approach to modeling and model transformation that pays special attention to abiding by agile values and principles.

Quantifying the Re-identification Risk in Published Process Models 1

Event logs are the basis of process mining operations such as process discovery, conformance checking, and process optimization. Sensitive information may be obtained by adversaries when re-identifying individuals that relate to the traces of an event log. This re-identification risk is dependent on the assumed background information of an attacker. Multiple techniques have been proposed to quantify the re-identification risks for published event logs. However, in many scenarios there is no need to release the full event log, a discovered process model annotated with frequencies suffices. This raises the question on how to quantify the re-identification risk in published process models. We propose a method based on generating sample traces to quantify this risk for process trees annotated with frequencies. The method was applied on several real-life event logs and process trees discovered by Inductive Miner. Our results show that there can be still a significant re-identification risk when publishing a process tree;however, this risk is often lower than that for releasing the original event log.
