Heart failure is one of the leading causes of hospitalization and rehospitalization in American hospitals, leading to high expenditures and increased medical risk for patients. The discharge location has a strong association with the risk of rehospitalization and mortality, which makes determining the most suitable discharge location for a patient a crucial task. So far, work regarding patient discharge classification is limited to the state of the patients at the end of the treatment, including statistical analysis and machine learning. However, the treatment process has not been considered yet. In this contribution, the methods of process outcome prediction are utilized to predict the discharge location for patients with heart failure by incorporating the patient's department visits and measurements during the treatment process. This paper shows that, with the help of convolutional neural networks, an accuracy of 77% can be achieved for the hospital discharge classification of heart failure patients. The model has been trained and evaluated on the MIMIC-IV real-world dataset on hospitalizations in the US.

New ventures and private investors are showing increasing interest in innovative forms of fundraising. ICO is the abbreviation of Initial Coin Offering and it represents an innovation in entrepreneurial finance [1]. However, no study has ever developed a taxonomy of academic and not academic discourse related to this type of innovative financial tool. This paper aims to fill this gap by developing a taxonomy to investigate and categorize papers that discuss Initial Coin Offering phenomenon. This study is developed using a mixed methodology. The first stage of the research protocol regards the dataset definition and description. In the second stage we adopted the taxonomy process developed by Nickerson et al. [2]. The purpose of the present work is to develop a taxonomy with a set of dimensions each consisting of a set of characteristics that describes the objects in a specific study. We identified "Research Topics" as set of dimensions. It comprises eight dimensions: field of investigation, focus, actors, token type, extra topic, research issue, ICO phase, blockchain. In the taxonomy process we assigned a single value to every dimension. In the last section, we summarize some preliminary results, providing conclusions and discussions for future research.

As the blockchain ecosystem gets more mature many businesses, investors, and entrepreneurs are seeking opportunities on working with blockchain systems and cryptocurrencies. A critical challenge for these actors is to identify the most suitable environment to start or evolve their businesses. In general, the question is to identify which countries are offering the most suitable conditions to host their blockchain-based activities and implement their innovative projects. The Blockchain Readiness Index (BRI) provides a numerical metric (referred to as the blockchain readiness score) in measuring the maturity/readiness levels of a country in adopting blockchain and cryptocurrencies. In doing so, BRI leverages on techniques from information retrieval to algorithmically derive an index ranking for a set of countries. The index considers a range of indicators organized under five pillars: Government Regulation, Research, Technology, Industry, and User Engagement. In this paper, we further extent BRI with the capability of deriving the index - at the country level - even in the presence of missing information for the indicators. In doing so, we are proposing two weighting schemes namely, linear and sigmoid weighting for refining the initial estimates for the indicator values. A classification framework was employed to evaluate the effectiveness of the developed techniques which yielded to a significant classification accuracy.

Process mining techniques enable business process analysis on event logs extracted from information systems. Currently, industry applications and research in process mining predominantly analyze intra-organizational processes. Intra-organizational processes deal with the workflows within a single organization. However, analyzing inter-organizational processes across separate companies has the potential to generate further insights. Process analysts can use these insights for optimizations such as workflow improvements and process cost reductions. It is characteristic for inter-organization process analysis that it is not possible to uncover the insights by analyzing the event logs of a single organization in isolation. On the other hand, privacy and trust issues are a considerable obstacle to adopting inter-organizational process mining applications. The independent companies fear competitive disadvantages by letting third parties access their valuable process logs. This paper proposes a concept for inter-organizational process mining using trusted execution environments in a decentralized cloud. The hardware-based approach aims to technically prevent data leakage to unauthorized parties without the need for a trusted intermediary. The contributions of this paper are theoretical and identify future research challenges for implementing the concept.

We present in this paper Phi, a generic microservices-based Big Data architecture dedicated to complex multi-layered systems, that rallies multiple machine learning jobs, stream and batch processing. We show how to apply our architecture to an adaptive e-learning application that adjusts its recommendation to the emotions of the learner on the spot. We deploy our application on the cloud using AWS services, and perform some performance tests to show its feasibility in a realistic environment.

One essential prerequisite for successful agile retrospective sessions is to accomplish a psychologically safe environment. Creating a psychologically safe environment for the co-located team is challenging. Further, it becomes more demanding with online agile retrospective teams. Literature sheds little light on creating a psychologically safe online environment for conducting agile retrospectives. Our study aims at addressing this knowledge gap and asks the research question: how does the usage of online tools influence psychological safety in online agile retrospectives? A single case study was conducted with a major software company's Research and Development team. We analysed a recorded online retrospective session of the team to identify patterns of the usage of online tools associated with the online meeting platform they used and how that usage influenced the psychological safety level of the team. Our findings show that retrospective participants are psychologically safe if they share opinions, make mistakes, raise a problem, ask questions, and show consent using online tools. Our study contributes online tools that influence psychological safety factors, corresponding levels and behaviours.

Optimized decisions is required by businesses (analysts) if they want to stay open. Even thought some of these are from the know-how of the managers/executives, most of them can be described mathematically and solved (semi)-optimally by computers. The Group Modular Choquet Random Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (GMC-RTOPSIS) is a Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) that was developed as a method to optimize the later types of problems, by being able to work with multiple heterogeneous data types and interaction among different criteria. On the other hand the Choquet integral is widely used in various fields, such as brain-computer interfaces and classification problems. With the introduction of the CC-integrals, this study presents the GMC-RTOPSIS method with CC-integrals. We applied 30 different CC-integrals in the method and analyzed its results using 3 different methods. We found that by modifying the decision-making method we allow for more flexibility and certainty in the choosing process.

The Publish/Subscribe (P/S) paradigm plays an essential role in developing Internet of Things (IoT) applications. Among the most representative protocols there is the Message Queuing Telemetry Transport (MQTT). Standard implementations employ a single server acting as a broker to provide client-to-client communication: publishers send messages to the broker, which forward them to the subscribers. A single server is both a single point of failure and a potential bottleneck. Most IoT applications require a reliable and scalable communication system. MQTT systems can evolve in such requirements through clustering or federation of brokers, resulting in more complex communication architectures. This work proposes a self-organizing solution for the federation of autonomous MQTT brokers based on the native P/S mechanism without requiring modifications to standard brokers. A case study shows some potential benefits of adopting the proposed solution.

Patients suffering from multiple diseases (multi-morbid patients) often have complex clinical pathways. They are diagnosed and treated by different specialties and undergo other clinical actions related to various diagnoses. Coordination of care for these patients is often challenging, and it would be of great benefit to get better insight into how the clinical pathways develop in reality. Discovering these pathways using traditional process mining techniques and standard event logs may be difficult because the patient is involved in several highly independent clinical processes. Our objective is to explore the potential of analyzing these pathways using an event log representation reflecting the independent clinical processes. Our main research question is: How can we identify valuable insights by using a multi-entity event data representation for clinical pathways of multi-morbid patients? Our method was built on the idea to represent multiple entities in event logs as event graphs. The MIMIC-III dataset was used to evaluate the feasibility of this approach. Several clinical entities were identified and then mapped into an event graph. Finally, multi-entity directly follows graphs were discovered by querying the event graph visualizing them. Our result shows that paths involving multiple entities include traditional process mining concepts not for one clinical process but all involved processes. In addition, the relationship between activities of different clinical processes, which was not recognizable in traditional models, is visible in the event graph representation.

This article suggests the design and application of a systematic approach to establish the ISO 14001 in the context of software systems. It covers the different phases of the software life-cycle with focus on sustainability. For each phase, it proposes principles and methods for specific software product instantiations of the ISO 14001. The presented approach is embeddedable into the efiS (R) framework - the agile framework for lean enterprises - as Level of Done (LoD) layer building block to scale the approach. The possibility of rigorous refinement of the enterprise sustainability goals to the specific software for products and services helps to find adequate trade-offs during development and delivery. Additionally, the approach can be used to establish a sustainability governance for IT and software based products and services. Furthermore, an instantiation as an example of the proposed approach on a hybrid-cloud service of the Volkswagen Group IT is presented.
