We present a survey-based approach towards simultaneous elicitation of criteria and weight rank orderings in a group decision analysis setting. Supporting such procedures is of interest for services facilitating online participatory decision analysis where citizens as stakeholders provide input in order to shape both a set of criteria and preferential statements over the set. However, in such a simultaneous approach, the stakeholders do not rank the same elements, as they propose them more or less independently, which leads to aggregation of relatively incomplete and possibly disjoint rank orderings. To address this, we present a useful conceptualization and subsequently identify techniques for aggregating such rank orderings. Furthermore, we propose a method for assessing the aggregation techniques' equitability by using data from a decision situation in a climate action case.

Enterprises may often deal with situations in which they cannot use a part of their data for machine learning: (1) Privacy laws grant users to determine that their data should not be used any longer by the data holder (i.e., a data record must be removed). (2) Privacy laws may require anonymization, which leads to the removal and masking of specific attributes from a dataset. (3) To avoid ethical issues, it may be necessary to prevent machine learning algorithms from using attributes in their decision-making that may be viewed as discriminatory (i.e., a feature may not be used because it is unethical). Given these challenges, we analyze how removing data from an information system in the cases mentioned above affects its predictive performance and the fairness of its decisions.

business process management organizes work into several interrelated "units of work", fundamentally conceptualized as a task. The classical concept of a task as a single step executed by a single actor in a single case fails to capture more complex aspects of work that occur in real-life processes. For instance, actors working together or the processing of work in batches, where multiple actors and/or cases meet for a number of steps. Established process mining and modeling techniques lack concepts for dealing with these more complex manifestations of work. We leverage event graphs as a data structure to model behavior along the actor and the case perspective in an integrated model, revealing a variety of fundamentally different types of task executions. We contribute a novel taxonomy and interpretation of these task execution patterns as well as techniques for detecting these in event graphs, complementing recent research in identifying patterns of work and their changes in routine dynamics. Our evaluation on two real-life event logs shows that these non-classical task execution patterns not only exist, but make up for the larger share of events in a process and reveal changes in how actors do their work.

Location-based games-urban games which are played in real life locations-are growing their share in the mobile gaming markets. While these kinds of games have been present since the growing popularity of so-called feature phones, they gained remarkable momentum through the popularity of Niantic Inc.'s Pokemon Go, Ingress and later Harry Potter: Wizards Unite. As modern location-based games are gathering hundred of millions dollars monthly revenue, also related social, economical, and even juridical questions have raised;however, the ethical questions embodied into the location-based games or augmented reality games have not been completely unveiled. As the mobile game industry is growing its importance in the software industry, also business ethics questions should be taken into account during the design and development of game products and services. This paper seeks to understand the relevant ethical concerns of location-based games by using the viewpoints of individual, community and business.

Process mining enables organizations to streamline and automate their business processes. The initial phases of process mining projects often include exploration activities aimed to familiarize with the data and understand the process. Despite being a crucial step of many analyses, exploration can be challenging and may demand targeted guidance and support. Still, little attention has been paid to understanding how process analysts approach this exploratory phase. With this goal in mind, in this paper, we report the results of an empirical study investigating exploration practices in process mining. Our study reveals that analysts follow different behavior patterns when exploring event logs and enact various strategies to understand the data and gain new insights. The results remark the need for a deeper understanding of process mining practices and inform future research directions to better support process analysts and explain the cognitive processes underlying the analysis.

The present study reports the results of an online survey in which we examined gender-specific expectations towards the support mechanisms offered in the decision support systems. The preferred ways of declaring preferences (e.g. using numbers, words, or pictograms) and decision-makers expectations regarding the forms of representing the results by the system (e.g. rankings vs ratings) were analyzed. The relationships between gender and the declarations regarding the support mechanisms were examined using the one-tailed two proportion test and the chi-square test of independence. This study's main result is significant differences in the preferred form of representation of preference information in decision support mechanisms depending on user gender. The results show that females are more likely to use rating and more willing to declare their preferences using the non-numerical form. Consistent with this finding, females recommend more often the AHP and TOPSIS methods for solving multiple criteria problems than males, while males recommend more often SMART. These results may be used to individualize the decision-making support mechanisms to allow for more reliable preference elicitation.

This article presents a systematic mapping study of published scientific papers on Enterprise Architecture (EA) and agility. More specifically, we reviewed studies on applying agile practices to EA and applying EA to the organization's agility. A categorical structure is proposed for classifying the research results based on the extracted topics discussed. The categories include agile traits (i.e., principles and practices), EA practices, and organizational contexts. By mapping the published works and analyzing them, the article also highlights some trends and indicates some obstacles and needs for future research and practice.

Due to the inherent complexity of Enterprise Models, it is common to employ multiple views for model exploration. Currently, this exploration remains a daunting task in collaborative modeling sessions, due to ineffective mechanisms for organizing views and presenting the relevant ones to each stakeholder. To address these issues, we propose an approach that reconstructs view-related information from the structure of the Enterprise Model and tool metadata. Then, we perform a viewpoint analysis, in order to identify the most appropriate view for each participant of the modeling session.

With the increasing attention on Machine Learning applications, more and more companies are involved in implementing AI components into their software products in order to improve the service quality. With the rapid growth of distributed edge devices, Federated Learning has been introduced as a distributed learning technique, which enables model training in a large decentralized network without exchanging collected edge data. The method can not only preserve sensitive user data privacy but also save a large amount of data transmission bandwidth and the budget cost of computation equipment. In this paper, we provide a state-of-the-art overview of the empirical results reported in the existing literature regarding Federated Learning. According to the problems they expressed and solved, we then categorize those deployments into different application domains, identify their challenges and then propose six open research questions.

In a context of higher volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity (VUCA), engineering education must promote active learning approaches, where the responsibility of learning is focused on students, enhancing their competencies and ability to be competitive in the market. But, such educational strategies encompass many issues, questions and challenges, both for teachers and students. This article presents and discusses the main changes that have been introduced in a course that promotes entrepreneurship in the field of software engineering. The changes were introduced to address two main aims: (1) to provide opportunities for students to experiment new skills, that prepare them to better behave in a VUCA context, and (2) to make the course more efficiently managed. External elements and personal issues complement the intrinsic motivation related to the course on entrepreneurship.
