We present an approach for resolving inconsistencies in declarative process models while guaranteeing a minimal information loss (w.r.t. the number of deleted elements). To this aim, we show how smallest correction sets, i.e., the smallest sets of constraints that need to be deleted in order to resolve inconsistencies, can be computed via an application of Reiter's hitting set theorem. In this context, as deleting certain constraints might be highly sensitive or not plausible in a real-life sense, we extend our approach with functionalities for enabling a close human-in-the-loop interaction, such as prioritizing constraints, as well as metrics that offer modelers insights into the impact of deleting constraints. Furthermore, we implement our approach and show that our inconsistency resolution approach outperforms existing approaches in terms of runtime and information loss in experiments with real-life data sets.

A goal of post-merger integration (PMI) is to combine several companies into one common entity so that Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) strategic objectives can be achieved (some examples of objectives are growth, optimization, strength, etc.). As an integration process is related to large amounts of information to be acquired, processed, and applied during integration planning and execution phases, knowledge management can be perceived as one of the key supporting factors during the PMI. Additionally, although a PMI should cover integration of all system perspectives - social, cyber and physical;today, in many organizations, the main impact is on the cyber perspective, as it forms the infrastructure for the functioning of the whole system. This leads us to the assumption that the PMI process should be organized in such a way that information system integration becomes its central part including knowledge management activities. This research explores a requirements engineering model that can be incorporated into the PMI phase of any M&A initiative. In comparison with common requirements engineering approaches, this model extends them and is adjusted to support the following PMI features: (1) Focus on the integration and M&A strategic goals. (2) Extensive knowledge management with accumulating M&A experience, (3) Coverage of both explicit and tacit knowledge in all three system perspectives - social, cyber and physical.

Establishment of privacy legislation regulations like the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) makes privacy to become one of the very important quality requirements towards software systems. Software companies need to develop strict strategies to comply with such regulations. However, currently privacy is frequently studied together with security, nevertheless these two characteristics may have different scenarios and hence - different approaches towards satisfying them. This paper studies privacy requirements of service-based software systems with respect to privacy regulations (specifically - GDPR) and methods at architectural level to meet them. Based on this, we present an architectural approach to ensure privacy, especially in the case, when the software have not been developed with privacy in mind, as such regulations did not exist. Main aspect of this approach are some additional components to system architecture, which may also be developed as services. Our approach may be easily applied to already implemented legacy software systems. Its application is straightforward as very small changes in system implementation should be done. A short illustrative case study is also included at the end of the paper.

Induced by the last evolutionary step of systems, the virtualization and decentralization of systems is thriving leading to more complex systems. This causes the system behavior described by models to be split into additional models, creating gaps. As a result, we present a novel approach that combines model artifacts describing the architecture of a system to recover the complete view of a system's behavior. Our design relies on model transformation to create a consistent model basis to enable cross-model connections. The combining process is carried out in two phases. First, an expert defines cross-model connections mapping behavioral models onto structural models. Second, these connections are used to derive direct connections between behavioral models to bridge the gap that emerged.

In this paper, we model normative document repositories and normative documents of two countries - the Republic of Latvia and the United Kingdom and suggest a framework for tracking normative documents. The framework is used for the retrieval of normative documents, their analysis, and their linking to the normative documents already present in the storage module of the framework. We propose splitting normative documents into parts to allow separate tracking of changes in sections and paragraphs for the purpose of normative document monitoring. information Retrieval, thus, can be done at an article, a paragraph, or a document level.

Recent work in human-computer interaction has explored the use of conversational agents as facilitators for group goal-oriented discussions. Inspired by this work and by the apparent lack of tooling available to support it, we created Diplomat, a Python-based framework for building conversational agent facilitators. Diplomat is designed to support simple specification of agent functionality as well as customizable integration with online chat services. We document a preliminary user study we conducted to help inform the design of Diplomat. We also describe the architecture, capabilities, and limitations of our tool, which we have shared on GitHub.

This study analyzes a collaborative multi-methodology intervention designed and deployed to support rural regeneration initiatives in a wicked problem context, i.e. that of planning and management in a World Heritage site. In particular, the intervention consisted of three stages, i.e. framing, prioritizing and designing and integrated the following methodologies: SWOT analysis with Geographic information Systems (GIS) and Multi Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA), then GIS, MCDA and Stakeholders analysis and in the last stage stakeholders' analysis and choice experiments. The objective of this paper is to detect and analyze opportunities for convergence and divergence in the decision-making process, among the different methods being integrated, among the different actors in the process, and among the methods' methodological requirements and the collaborative process' characteristics. As a result, this study highlights promising synergies among different methods for more effective multi-methodology interventions design, as well as specific needs for better conflict support and anticipation in collaborative decision-making processes.

Services and products are often offered via the execution of processes that vary according to the context, requirements, or customisation needs. The analysis of such process variants can highlight differences in the service outcome or quality, leading to process adjustments and improvement. Research in the area of process mining has provided several methods for process variants analysis. However, very few of those account for a statistical significance analysis of their output. Moreover, those techniques detect differences at the level of process traces, single activities, or performance. In this paper, we aim at describing the distinctive behavioural characteristics between variants expressed in the form of declarative process rules. The contribution to the research area is two-pronged: the use of declarative rules for the explanation of the process variants and the statistical significance analysis of the outcome. We assess the proposed method by comparing its results to the most recent process variants analysis methods. Our results demonstrate not only that declarative rules reveal differences at an unprecedented level of expressiveness, but also that our method outperforms the state of the art in terms of execution time.

Supporting knowledge workers involved in the execution of unstructured Knowledge-Intensive Processes by providing context-specific recommendations remains an interesting challenge. Case data that represents expert decisions recorded in the past can be exploited for building a decision support tool for knowledge workers that can recommend which tasks to execute next. Reinforcement learning (RL) provides a framework for learning from interaction with the environment in order to achieve a certain process goal. RL has widely been used to model sequential decision problems and has shown great promise in solving large scale complex problems with long time horizons, partial observability, and high dimensionality of observation and action spaces [5]. In this paper, we propose a novel framework based on RL aimed at supporting knowledge workers by recommending the optimal course of action to the knowledge worker.

We observe increasing needs for remote collaboration, inspired by corresponding technical and technological possibilities. This was further justified during the COVID-19 pandemic when most businesses went on-line. Many positive effects of the Digital Transformation were seen in this period, but also a number of new challenges popped up. This paper is based on previous research featuring Digital Transformation and it is extended towards explicitly considering particular challenges that pose societal relevance. There are three main contributions of this paper. First, a modified model is created and presented as evolution of the enhanced socio-technical system to better describe the prospects and challenges associated with platform technologies and digital driven transformations. The second contribution is a systematic review of recent publications on digital driven transformations, and five key points and four crucial steps are suggested to be intended with digital transformations. Third, three examples are considered to support the author's claims. Those examples have to do with domains of high relevance, namely: (i) Education;(ii) Health Care;(iii) Finance-banking.
