Although fuzzy-based recommendation systems are widely used in several services, scanty efforts have been carried out to investigate the efficiency of such approaches in job recommendation applications. In fact, most of the existing fuzzy-based job recommendation systems are only considering two crisp criteria: Curriculum Vitae (CV) content and job description. Other factors like personalized users needs and the fuzzy nature of their explicit and implicit preferences are totally ignored. To fill this gap, this paper introduces a new fuzzy personalized job recommendation approach aiming at providing a more accurate and selective job/candidate matching. To this end, our contribution considers a Fuzzy NoSQL Preference Model to define the candidates profiles. Based on this modeling, an efficient Fuzzy Matching/Scoring algorithm is then applied to select the top-k personalized results. The proposed framework has been added as an extension to TeamBuilder software. Through extensive experimentations using real data sets, achieved results corroborate the efficiency of our approach in providing accurate and personalized results.

Robotic Process Automation (RPA) has quickly evolved from automating simple rule-based tasks. Nowadays, RPA is required to mimic more sophisticated human tasks, thus implying its combination with Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology, i.e., the so-called intelligent RPA. Putting together RPA with AI leads to a challenging scenario since (1) it involves professionals from both fields who typically have different skills and backgrounds, and (2) AI models tend to degrade over time which affects the performance of the overall solution. This paper describes the AIRPA project, which addresses these challenges by proposing a software architecture that enables (1) the abstraction of the robot development from the AI development and (2) the monitor, control, and maintain intelligent RPA developments to ensure its quality and performance over time. The project has been conducted in the Servinform context, a Spanish consultancy firm, and the proposed prototype has been validated with reality settings. The initial experiences yield promising results in reducing AHT (Average Handle Time) in processes where AIRPA deployed cognitive robots, which encourages exploring the support of intelligent RPA development.

Performance mining from event logs is a central task in managing and optimizing business processes. Established analysis techniques work with a single timestamp per event only. However, when available, time interval information enables proper analysis of the duration of individual activities as well as the overall execution runtime. Our novel approach, performance skyline, considers extended events, including start and end timestamps in log files, aiming at the discovery of events that are crucial to the overall duration of real process executions. As first contribution, our method gains a geometrical process representation for traces with interval events by using interval-based methods from sequence pattern mining and performance analysis. Secondly, we introduce the performance skyline, which discovers dominating events considering a given heuristic in this case, event duration. As a third contribution, we propose three techniques for statistical analysis of performance skylines and process trace sets, enabling more accurate process discovery, conformance checking, and process enhancement. Experiments on real event logs demonstrate that our contributions are highly suitable for detecting and analyzing the dominant events of a process.

Robotic Process Automation (RPA) is an emerging technology that allows organizations to automate intensive repetitive tasks (or simply routines) previously performed by a human user on the User Interface (UI) of web or desktop applications. RPA tools are able to capture in dedicated UI logs the execution of several routines and then emulate their enactment in place of the user by means of a software (SW) robot. A UI log can record information about many routines, whose actions are mixed in some order that reflects the particular order of their execution by the user, making their automated identification far from being trivial. The issue to automatically understand which user actions contribute to a specific routine inside the UI log is also known as segmentation. In this paper, we leverage a concrete use case to explore the issue of segmentation of UI logs, identifying all its potential variants and presenting an up-to-date overview that discusses to what extent such variants are supported by existing literature approaches. Moreover, we offer points of reference for future research based on the findings of this paper.

Alignments pinpoint trace deviations in a process model and quantify their severity. However, approaches based on trace alignments use crisp process models and recent probabilistic conformance checking approaches check the degree of conformance of an event log with respect to a stochastic process model instead of finding trace alignments. In this paper, for the first time, we provide a conformance checking approach based on trace alignments using stochastic Workflow nets. Conceptually, this requires to handle the two possibly contrasting forces of the cost of the alignment on the one hand and the likelihood of the model trace with respect to which the alignment is computed on the other.

Due to the emergence of sensing technology, a large number of sensors is used to monitor the health state of manufacturing equipment, thus enhancing the capabilities of predicting abnormal behaviours in (near) real-time. However, existing algorithms in predictive maintenance suffer from several limitations related to their scalability, efficiency, and reliability preventing their wide application to various industries. This paper proposes an approach for real-time prediction of the equipment health state using time-domain features extraction, Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) Neural Networks, and Bayesian Online Change point Detection (BOCD). The proposed approach is applied to a real-life case in the steel industry and extensive experiments are performed. The paper also discusses the results and the conclusions drawn from the proposed approach.

Latest research studies on multi-dimensional design have combined business data with User-Generated Content (UGC). They have integrated new analytical aspects, such as user's behavior, sentiments, opinions or topics of interest, to ameliorate decisional analysis. In this paper, we deal with the complexity of designing topics dimension schema due to the dynamicity and heterogeneity of its hierarchies. Researchers addressed partially this issue by offering technical solutions to topics detection without focusing on the Extraction, Transformation and Loading (ETL) process allowing their integration in multi-dimensional schema. Our contribution consists in modeling ETL steps generating valid topic dimension hierarchies referring to UGC informal texts. In this research work, we propose a generic ETL4SocialTopic process model defining a set of operations executed following a specific order. The implementation of these steps offers a set of customized jobs simplifying the ETL designer's work by automating a large part of the process. Experimentation results show the consistency of ETL4SocialTopic to design valid topic dimension schemas in several contexts.

The commissioning of manufacturing plants is considered a complex and at the same time critical phase in the life cycle of a production system, because errors and delays lead to long downtimes and cost-intensive re-work at the start of production. Optimizations and rationalisation of this phase can be implemented by employing the idea of virtual commissioning. This paper summarises conceptual approaches to virtual commissioning and concertises them with the help of subject-oriented process models. As reference models, these depict the plant design process and demonstrate the advantage of virtual commissioning in terms of time, cost, and quality. The discussion along recognised quality criteria show that the reference model is suitable for providing orientation for the people involved in the plant engineering process and that the model can be used to support the creation of company-specific models.

Edge computing is becoming more and more present, with sites geo-distributed around the globe. Applications on these infrastructures must be able to manage the latency and disconnections inherent to their distribution. One way to deal with these concerns could be to deploy one entire instance of the application per site and use a service mesh to manage the collaboration between the geo-distributed instances. More precisely, we propose to reify the location of application instances in REST requests and allow redirections between these requests thanks to a dedicated language and a service mesh allowing three types of collaborations. This paper focuses on the replication of a resource between multiple instances. Though it is still a work in progress, we demonstrated the relevance of our approach in the OpenStack ecosystem.

When software development teams apply Agile Software Development practices, they commonly express their requirements as User Stories. We aim to study the quality of User Stories and its evolution over time. Firstly, we develop a method to automatically monitor the quality of User Stories. Secondly, we investigate the relationship between User Story quality and project performance measures such as the number of reported bugs and the occurrence of rework and delays. We measure User Story quality with the help of a recently published quality framework and tool, Automatic Quality User Story Artisan (AQUSA). For our empirical work, we use six agile open source software projects. We apply time series analysis and use the Windowed Time Lagged Cross Correlation (WTLCC) method. Our results indicate that automatic User Story quality monitoring is feasible and may result in various distinct dynamic evolution patterns. In addition, we found the following relationship patterns between User Story quality and the software development aspects. A decrease/increase in User Story quality scores is associated with (i) a decrease/increase of the number of bugs after 1-13 weeks in short-medium projects, and 12 weeks in longer ones, (ii) an increase in rework frequency after 18-28,8-15, and 1-3 weeks for long, medium, and short projects, respectively, and (iii) an increase in delayed issues after 7-20, 8-11, and 1-3 weeks for long, medium, and short duration projects.
