We present the MeDO project, aimed at developing resources for text mining and information extraction in the wastewater domain. We developed a specific Natural Language processing (NLP) pipeline named WEIR-P (WastewatEr information extraction Platform) which identifies the entities and relations to be extracted from texts, pertaining to information, wastewater treatment, accidents and works, organizations, spatio-temporal information, measures and water quality. We present and evaluate the first version of the NLP system which was developed to automate the extraction of the aforementioned annotation from texts and its integration with existing domain knowledge. The preliminary results obtained on the Montpellier corpus are encouraging and show how a mix of supervised and rule-based techniques can be used to extract useful information and reconstruct the various phases of the extension of a given wastewater network. While the NLP and information Extraction (IE) methods used are state of the art, the novelty of our work lies in their adaptation to the domain, and in particular in the wastewater management conceptual model, which defines the relations between entities. French resources are less developed in the NLP community than English ones. The datasets obtained in this project are another original aspect of this work.

Several popular contemporary online multiplayer games and franchises are developed and managed with the aid of multiple data sources. Despite the control and insight that the utilization of data brings to game design and business decisions, video game developers occasionally receive backlash from their player communities. Examples include the announcement of Diablo Immortal at BlizzCon 2018, and the #HearUsNiantic campaign among Pokemon GO players in August 2021. In this article we analyze these two examples and demonstrate the importance of understanding player behavior more broadly than what can be derived from quantitative in-game data. In both the analyzed cases, players' offline culture played a paramount role in the backlash. We argue that the primary reason for the observed backlash is that the players' lives have become intertwined with digital products, and hence, changing these products alters the players' lives as well.

The Agile development methodology is soaring in popularity in the business world. Companies are turning to Agile to develop products quickly and to achieve digital transformation of their organization. Because of this push, companies need employees who understand Agile. Therefore, higher education is obligated to provide an understanding of Agile to students as they enter the work-place. Providing Agile experience to students who are new to programming is difficult because they are so worried about the coding aspects of the assignment, they cannot take time to think about the methodology they are using. The coding crowds out the time needed to get an understanding of how Agile actually works. One remedy for this is to use a low or no-code development platform. With this type of platform students spend less time learning to create apps, freeing them to experience the rituals and roles of Agile. This study examines using the Agile methodology along with the Microsoft Power Apps platform to provide an Agile experience to students. Two course sections were surveyed to learn if students perceived that they acquired a better understanding of Agile and to learn their perceptions of a no-code platform experience. The students completed surveys to ascertain their comfort with the Agile methodology and whether the no-code environment increased their comfort level. The results showed students perceived the no-code platform increased their comfort with using the Agile methodology. The implication is that no-code platforms can be used broadly to help students to gain experience with Agile.

Four Key Metrics of DevOps have become very popular for measuring IT-performance and DevOps adoption. However, the measurement of the four metrics deployment frequency, lead time for change, time to restore service and change failure rate is often done manually and through surveys - with only few data points. In this work we evaluated how the Four Key Metrics can be measured automatically and developed a prototype for the automatic measurement of the Four Key Metrics. We then evaluated if the measurement is valuable for practitioners in a company. The analysis shows that the chosen measurement approach is both suitable and the results valuable for the team with respect to measuring and improving the software delivery performance.

Blockchain potential in supply chain management (SCM) has increased considerably over the last few years, both in academia and industry. However, according to the literature, few researchers have tackled the real impact of blockchain in changing businesses and creating value. This research fully delved into an analysis of the SCM function with specific focus on measuring the potential of using a blockchain-based system in terms of enhancing effectiveness, trust and transparency. The main contributions of this research aim to address the main challenges of blockchain enabled smart contracts implementation in the field of SCM through a deep qualitative research that highlights the inconsistencies and misfits that are common in that application area.

Automating business processes is one of the most recurrent topics in industries, independent of its digital orientation. Competitiveness pushes companies to deliver their products or services efficiently and effectively. Besides providing the appropriate value, they are required to do it faster and with higher quality. This agile context leads to automate everything that can be automated to keep the focus on the value while optimizing the processing times, errors, and process performance, in general [9]. Human beings have historically suffered various industrial revolutions that transformed the way of working, producing, and thinking. Although resistance to change has always appeared, they ended up being adopted by companies and people to avoid inevitable obsolescence [11]. The irruption of Robotic Process Automation (RPA) in the area of business process automation seems to have laid the seeds for a new revolution of administrative digital work [3]. RPA is a software paradigm that enables software machines (also referred as robots) to interact with information systems through their user interfaces (UIs) in a process-oriented way. Freeing humans from repetitive and mundane work is its main mantra. It started receiving increasing interest in the last decade and has become the fastest-growing enterprise software market in the last years [2]. After an initial hype of unfulfilled promises, RPA keeps a significant traction [12]. Nonetheless, some companies still fail when trying to incorporate RPA in their projects. This paper serves as a discussion on, first, how to frame RPA in the existing business Process Management (BPM) paradigm (cf. Sect. 1.1). And second, it deals with its natural evolution to a wider automation technology across the entire organization: Hyperautomation (cf. Sect. 1.2).

Themacula is the central area of the retina responsible for the best visual acuity and direct central vision, necessary for activities of daily living. An example of this is Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD), the most common cause of legal blindness in people over 50 in Western countries. This paper aims to provide an information System (IS) based on Conceptual Models to ensure proper management and analysis of data associated with Macular Diseases. This domain of application lacks an adequate conceptual characterization and it shows a high degree of heterogeneity in the data;in order to carry out this work, we have had the support of experts from the Ophthalmology Services (OS) of three hospitals in the Valencian Community. The main contributions of this work are the following: i) Study and analysis of the domain (Macular Disease), ii) facilitate a Conceptual Model of the Macular Pathology (CMMP) that will serve as ontological support for the development of the solution, and iii) IS that will allow the management and exploitation of the data. This work demonstrates the benefits of the use of conceptual modeling techniques in the clinical environment, which has a direct impact on the improvement of patient care services (prevention and treatment).

Digital business Ecosystem (DBE) supports organizations to combine their expertise in a novel collaborative network through information and communications technology. Despite its beneficial aspects, a DBE is intricate and difficult to manage due to the dependent interactions and interrelationships among actors. Modelling, as a proven way to deal with complex problems in organisational settings, can support the capturing and documenting of a DBE. This can enhance the level of abstraction of the DBE to aid the analysis and decision-making. However, current scientific literature shows a lack of methodological guidance for modelling in support of the analysis, design, and management of DBEs. Hence, in this study, we have proposed a foundation for a DBE design, analysis, and management method based on Situational Method Engineering (SME). Using the requirements empirically collected from a number of industrial practitioners and experts, the main concepts and intentions relevant to DBE design, analysis and management were defined. Based on them, using the SME approach, we modelled and presented several method process parts that layout fulfilment of the intentions for the concepts' development using different, situation-related, strategies (i.e. method chunks).

Accurate stock market prediction is of paramount importance for traders. Professional ones typically derive financial market decision-making from fundamental and technical indicators. However, stock markets are very often influenced by external human factors, like sentiment information that can be contained in online social networks. As a result, micro-blogs are more and more exploited to predict prices and traded volumes of stocks in financial markets. Nevertheless, it has been shown that a large volume of the content shared on micro-blogs is published by malicious entities, especially spambots. In this paper, we introduce a novel deep learning-based approach for financial time series forecasting based on social media. Through the Generative Adversarial Network (GAN) model, we gauge the impact of malicious tweets, posted by spambots, on financial markets, mainly the closing price. We compute the performance of the proposed approach using real-world data of stock prices and tweets related to the Facebook Inc company. Carried out experiments show that the proposed approach outperforms the two baselines, LSTM, and SVR, using different evaluation metrics. In addition, the obtained results prove that spambot tweets potentially grasp investors' attention and induce the decision to buy and sell.

Digital platform research has focused mostly on global platforms, where the users of the platform are consumers. business-to-business (B2B) digital platforms have received less attention. This study observes and provides an early report on a digital platform for forestry, bringing together forest companies, contractors, and forest machine manufacturers. The platform started in Finland, but it has begun to extent its scope to international markets as well. We present some early insights about the birth of the platform and the factors that have contributed to its success in the beginning. We also describe some aspects present in B2B platform governance and related forces. Finally, we provide a preliminary outlook of possible future directions of the platform and its ecosystem.
