Testing is an essential phase of software development to evaluate the quality of the product. Scriptless testing is a prominent technique that makes this phase efficient. However, there is a research gap in automating the testing process from the requirements. In this research we want to propose an innovative approach: Automated Scriptless GUI Testing Aligned with Requirements and User Stories. Using the open-source GUI testing tool, TESTAR, we want to propose an AI-powered tool that enables TESTAR to test software against specified requirements and user stories.

EU Cohesion Policy is crucial leading policy for the public and state's interaction and cooperation activities not only within regional but also national and cross-border to improve a sustainable and harmonised regional growth across the EU countries. To achieve such sustainable development, a citizen engagement within their local government's decision making is vital. A scattered citizen engagement practices and policies across the local governments requires an integrated framework to achieve sustainability within the EU Cohesion Policy. This study is assessing a set of factors which highlight the initiatives of EU Harmonised Online Public Engagement (EU HOPE) and their relationship with Cohesion Policy. Citizen engagement factors within some of the EU cross- border pilot studies have been investigated against relative factors adopted within EU Harmonised Online Public Engagement (EU HOPE). A relation between the common citizen engagement factors within the pilot studies and found factors within EU HOPE have also been illustrated in the end of the research.

Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) methods, such as PROMETHEE II, play a crucial role in complex decision-making scenarios, including team formation. However, they face scalability challenges as the number of criteria and options increases. This paper introduces a novel Hybrid Evolutionary Algorithm integrated with PROMETHEE II, specifically designed for team formation. This hybrid approach combines the exploration power of evolutionary algorithms and the decision-making capabilities of PROMETHEE II, aiming to improve both performance and scalability in decision-making processes. Initial experiments demonstrate significant improvements in both solution quality and scalability compared to existing methods facing similar challenges. This research enables the creation of more efficient and effective team formation in complex decision-making scenarios.

Green AI aims to make artificial intelligence energy-efficient and sustainable. Researchers have formulated new frameworks, methods, models and experiments aimed at the understanding and optimization of greenability in the AI arena. One of the emerging observations is that Green AI research has to cope with challenges, threats and limitations that are not always easy to overcome. In this paper, we investigate how validity threats (VTs) are reported in Green AI research. To this end, we address two research questions. RQ1 examines whether Green AI researchers identify VTs in their paper and what influences this practice. RQ2 categorizes the VTs mentioned in these papers, looking at their types and prevalence. We conclude with a list of takeaways and recommended actions aiming to enhance the understanding and management of VTs in the field.

Data confidentiality is essential for safety-critical blockchain applications such as digital payment. A promising approach for preserving confidentiality is to encrypt transaction data using homomorphic encryption (HE) and prove the correctness of transaction execution through non-interactive zero-knowledge proofs (NIZKPs). However, prior work on this approach suffers from poor performance caused by the costly HE computation, hindering their adoption for real-world applications. In addition, prior work is restricted by the use of HE schemes that only support either addition or multiplication, making it challenging to implement business logic involving both types of arithmetic operations. We present Gafe, a high-performance confidentiality-preserving blockchain that carries a GPU-accelerated transaction execution workflow. Gafe encrypts transaction data with FHE, allowing both addition and multiplication on ciphertexts. For high performance, Gafe leverages parallel execution on GPUs to accelerate FHE computations. For result correctness, Gafe generates lightweight NIZKPs that incur low overhead. Evaluations show that Gafe is highly performant, achieving a 3.1x increase in throughput (258 transactions per second) and a 37% reduction in latency (1.61 s), surpassing the baseline without GPU acceleration.(Gafe stands for GPU-Accelerated Fully Homomorphic Encryption Blockchain.)

Prior studies have neglected the significance of IS strategy in choosing and implementing the suitable IS according to situation, instead concentrating on the impact of digital transformation methods on performance and crucial elements that influence IS adoption. The use of strategy-as-practice is useless because there are no formal procedures in place, and no strategic planning has been done. This makes it impossible for management to use IS planning to gain a sustainable competitive advantage. In this study, we look at how the performance of IS is impacted by strategic processes and practices. The survey's participants were 294 information technology managers from Greek SMEs. The results of the study suggest that top-level management should receive training on how to strategically apply IS planning to strengthen competitive advantage. In order to align the organization's strategy and structure, it is also the manager's duty to select the proper IT infrastructure. The findings aid managers in setting priorities for logistical tasks and in comprehending the importance of IS planning in this area.

Agile software development (ASD) teams show their relevance through the continuous delivery of valuable software. As part of ASD, product owners have an important role in four activities: determining most valuable backlog items, refining them, and in validating and measuring business value. In this research we investigate how product owners operationalize business value delivery in these activities. We conducted 38 semi-structured in-depth interviews with product owners in the Netherlands. Overall we found that 55% operationalize value using only two of the four activities, and that 11% apply all four activities. We furthermore found that only 26.5% of these product owners use a structured prioritization method, 47% prioritize based on individual preferences and gut feeling, and 26.5% do not use any prioritization approach at all. We found five different approaches to refinement. The majority (84%) of the product owners state that they validate business value delivery, while just 24% actually measure business value. Overall we conclude that there are opportunities to bring product ownership to a higher level on operationalizing business value delivery, and that there is a clear need in practice for better structure and guidance in operationalizing business value delivery to do so.

The study of daily routines has gained substantial attention, especially in healthcare. Understanding the activities and behaviors of individuals, particularly older adults, has the potential to play a crucial role in providing effective care and support, for example, when it comes to spotting deviations from it automatically. Process mining is a valuable tool for analyzing routine dynamics and identifying variations. However, human behavior is unstructured and characterized by variability, making it difficult to derive a process model representing only the control flow. In this paper, we employ a multi-dimensional process discovery and conformance checking methodology to a real-world dataset representing a person's behavior in a smart environment. The derived model combines control flow and statistics on the data. The results, on the real-world data, highlight that the approach can identify variations in the inhabitant's behavior.

Wood is one of the most used raw materials for the manufacture of various products. When it comes to industrial processes, it is necessary to optimize its use as much as possible. A key point for this optimization is the control of the of moisture content, because wood logs gradually start to lose water when stored in open air. Such water loss is directly reflected in weight and defects, such as warping and cracks, which impair the production processes causing irreparable losses of raw material. Given this context, this work develops a method based on Machine Learning to predict the variation in the weight of wood logs caused by moisture loss, without the need to purchase equipment or increase the cost of labor, using data that companies in the sector already have at their disposal. Several models were developed, with different algorithms, hyperparameter configurations and data distributions. These models were subjected to different evaluations. As an empirical evaluation, the metric chosen was the weighted balanced F-measure. The results showed that the model developed using the Random Forest classifier, classes balanced by the SMOTE algorithm, and hyperparameters adjusted with best tuning obtained the best classification performance. In the statistical analysis, the Align-Friedman and post hoc Holm tests were used. Considering the model based on Random Forest as a control method, the results showed that the algorithms Random Forest and Gradient Boosting can be considered statistically equivalent in most of the scenarios tested. Thus, a model based on Random Forest is suggested for industrial use, thus enabling better use of wood logs in production processes and helping decision-making in the industrial chain in which wood is inserted.

Since e-Cash and electronic transactions consist of digital data, there are risks that this data can be easily falsified, compromising the security and efficiency of the entire electronic payment protocol. To ensure the security of the protocol, these data must be protected. This is why researchers have focused on several cryptographic studies including secret sharing. Secret sharing techniques are used to divide a secret into multiple shares and to distribute them among a group of participants. Only when a sufficient number of shares are combined together, the original secret can be reconstructed. Moreover, no information about the secret can be deducted from the shares by a smaller group. In this paper, we investigate the different phases of an electronic payment protocol where secret sharing can be used and more particularly distributed key generation and distributed multikey generation protocols. This paper also highlights the importance of using secret sharing in enhancing the security and confidentiality of electronic payment systems, as well as the ability to prevent unauthorized access to sensitive information. The trust is shared among multiple parties.
