Enterprise architecture allows one to describe, analyze and design a company from the point of view of its structure, functioning and goals. Both business and IT components of an organization are considered in it. Enterprise architecture management methods and technologies help companies to implement their digital strategy, establish enterprise coherence and coordinate business transformation. Teaching enterprise architecture in universities is a difficult task because of the interdisciplinary nature of the subject, its generalized character and close connection with practical experience. In addition, modern enterprise architecture management methodologies are difficult for students and contain many details that are relevant to specific situations. Although there are several methodologies and approaches for enterprise architecture teaching, they do not reflect a recent change in application scenarios for enterprise architecture - shift from business-IT alignment to enterprise coherence and business transformation coordination. The work offers a simplified methodology of enterprise architecture management, which on the one hand will be available for students' comprehension, and, on the other hand, will allow students to understand and apply in practice the main methods and technologies of enterprise architecture. Requirements for the methodology are also collected and presented in the paper. The proposed methodology is used in several universities and demonstration of its application within the business school of one university is provided.

Currently, urban vehicle navigation is considered important because smoothness of traffic is needed for the sake of safety and cleanliness of air;in this regard, people essentially count on GPS navigation. Nevertheless, due to signal building shadows, GPS signal disturbances may occur in an urban environment;then alternative navigation options should be considered. It is therefore a matter of context-awareness to establish whether or not GPS navigation is available and adjust the delivered navigation services accordingly. In this paper we propose a top-down approach for modeling context-aware vehicle navigation systems;firstly, a high-level technology-independent conceptual model is derived (featuring context-awareness in general) and then this model is mapped towards corresponding lower-level technical solutions. Even though research materials, touching upon context-awareness or vehicle navigation, can be found in literature, we miss holistic approaches that align high-level (conceptual) goals with navigation-specific (technical) solutions;hence, our proposal is considered a step forward in this regard. We also propose an innovation concerning the technical aspects of navigation. Our proposed approach is partially validated by means of experiments.

Increasing competition and decreasing margins force manufacturers of industrial machinery to augment their products with complementary services-several dependent on field service planning. Hence, the efficient delivery of field services has become a main competitive differentiator and is driving companies to digitalize their processes and utilize decision support systems. Based on a qualitative interview study of maintenance providers, the paper provides empirical insight on the role of organizational knowledge and decision support systems in this digital transformation. The study shows that while maintenance providers have digitized their field service processes, many are only beginning the process of digitalization. Today, employees heavily rely on tacit and embedded knowledge in their decision-making. Therefore, knowledge-driven decision support systems-which have not yet been adopted in the industry-have been identified as an important cornerstone of the coming digitalization of field service planning.

Active and healthy ageing strategies are proposed in many European countries to address the challenges generated by ageing of the populations. information and communication technology (ICT) plays an important role in the implementation of these strategies. By applying Value-focused thinking approach, this qualitative study investigates what objectives are important for successful implementation of ICT for active and healthy ageing according to older people in Sweden and Poland. The study shows that there are both differences and similarities between the objectives identified in these two countries that may have significant implications for development (analysis and design) and implementation of ICT solutions for active and healthy ageing.

Background: Agile Software Development is widely used nowadays and to measure its real usage we need to analyze how its practices are used. These practices have been categorized by several authors and some practitioners have suggested that technical practices have a lower usage level than organizational practices. Objective: In this study we aim to understand the actual usage of technical and organizational agile practices in the Latin-American Agile community. Method: We conducted a three-stage survey in conferences of the Latin-American Agile Community. Results: Organizational practices are much more used than technical ones. The number of practices used is a direct function of organization experience using agile. The difference between technical and organizational practices reduces with the experience of the organization using agile. Team size and project duration seem to have no effect in the number of practices used.

The adherence of business process compliance (BPC) is crucial for many companies. In addition, business processes may be supported by IT components, which can also be affected by compliance requirements. Due to business process change and the avoidance of compliance violations, companies must analyze, among other things, the interactions between business process change and BPC. Following the design science research paradigm, we developed and prototypically implemented a method that is able to analyze interactions between BPC and business process change considering supporting IT components and compliance processes. The method takes the business process change patterns "replace" and "delete" into account.

With the aim of meeting new technological and social requirements, nearly all companies are facing the so-called digital transformation. A starting point to respond to the changing demands is to improve the company's ability to operate flexibly and, thus, increase its agility. Thereby, with this paper, we contribute to the ongoing discussion on changing corporate organizational structures. We used a three-stage study design to provide insights on the question of whether agility is a prerequisite or a consequence of the digital transformation. In addition to a literature analysis, we present the results of focus group interviews with managers of selected enterprises.

It is estimated that 85% of the defects in the developed software are originated from ambiguous, incomplete and wishful thinking software requirements. Natural language is often used to write software requirements specifications as well as user requirements. However, natural language specifications can be confusing and hard to understand. Some agile methodologists consider that acceptance tests are more precise and accurate sources of information about the customer's needs than descriptions in natural language. Several studies have addressed the use of acceptance tests as software requirements specification. Therefore, none of the previous studies has performed experiments to compare the applicability of different acceptance testing techniques in order to support an organization in the selection of one technique over another. This paper addresses this problem reporting an experiment conducted with undergraduate students in Computer Science. This experiment compares the applicability of two acceptance testing techniques (Fit tables and Gherkin language) as software requirements specification. This research tries to answer three questions: (a) Which technique is the easiest to learn in order to specify acceptance test scenarios? (b) Which technique requires less effort to specify acceptance tests? (c) Which technique is the best one to communicate software requirements? The results show that there is no sufficient evidence to affirm that one technique is easier to specify test scenarios or better to communicate software requirements. Whereas, the comparison of effort in terms of time to specify acceptance testing shows that the mean time to specify test scenarios using Gherkin language is lower than Fit tables.

Software teams address software defect problems in a simple way: they identify them, assign them and resolve them. Nevertheless, studies have proven that having only these activities as approaches to handle a large and increasing number of software defects is inefficient. As a solution to this, we propose in this study a managerial conceptual tool for mining software defects in order to improve the management of SDs. With our proof of concept, we demonstrate how SDs mining management can be enhanced from a strategic and operational view. This is done through the precise definition of software defects' management objectives in line with the objectives of the software product owner.

business process management is especially challenging when crossing organisational boundaries. Inter-organisational business relationships are considered as a first-class citizen in BPMN collaboration diagrams, where multiple participants interact via messages. Nevertheless, proper carrying out of such interactions may be difficult due to BPMN lack of formal semantics. In particular, no formal studies have been specifically done to cope with complex BPMN interaction scenarios unified under the name of Service Interaction Patterns. In this work the depiction of the service interaction patterns in BPMN collaboration diagrams is revisited and fully formalised via a direct semantics for BPMN multi-instance collaborations, thus leaving no room for ambiguity and validating the BPMN semantics. To make the formalisation more accessible, a visualisation of the patterns execution by means of a BPMN model animation tool is provided.
