Social media continues to gain enormous popularity. Therefore, it is not surprising that this attracts the interest of researchers to study this cyber-social phenomenon particularly motivation issues as one of the most important axis in the social media literature. However, an analysis of literature concerning the motivations for using social media reveals a lack of studying professional networking sites compared to friendship-oriented social media (i.e. online social networks) and most particularly Facebook, despite the obvious interest that they present. Particularly as in the B2B context, interest in them exceeds that of online social networks (OSN) including even Facebook. Currently, a few number of researches who have become interested in studying the category of professional networking sites, but they did so from only the individual's point of view. However, it is also necessary to consider the motivations for using them from a company's point of view. To our knowledge, no research has been undertaken to study the motivations for using professional networking sites for both individuals and companies. For this purpose, we conduct a research by applying the 'Uses & Gratifications' Theory to explain the user behaviour in the field of professional networking sites. To collect data, 8 face-to-face interviews with companies and 5 focus groups with individuals were conducted. The results permit to identify two types of motivations: contextual motivations and generic motivations in which a comparison with those previously found in the field of OSNs can be done.

In global supply chains information about transactions resides in fragmented pockets within business and government systems. The introduction of digital trade infrastructures (DTI) that transcend organizational and systems domains is driven by the prospect of reducing this information fragmentation, thereby enabling improved security and efficiency in trade process. To understand the problem at hand and build cumulative knowledge about its resolution a way to conceptualize the different digital trade infrastructure initiatives is needed. This paper develops the Digital Trade Infrastructure Framework that identifies its structural components.

Weight elicitation methods in multi-criteria decision analysis (MCDA) are often cognitively demanding, require too much precision and too much time and effort. Some of the issues may be remedied by connecting elicitation methods to an inference engine facilitating a quick and easy method for decision-makers to use weaker input statements, yet being able to utilize these statements in a method for decision evaluation. One important class of such methods ranks the criteria and converts the resulting ranking into numerical so called surrogate weights. We analyse the relevance of these methods and discuss how robust they are as candidates for modelling decision-makers and analysing multi-criteria decision problems under the perspectives of several stakeholders.

Choreography in business processes is used as a mechanism to communicate various organizations, by providing a method to isolate the behaviour of each part and keeping the privacy of their data. Nevertheless, choreography diagrams can also be necessary inside an organization when a single instance of a process needs to interact and be synchronized with multiple instances of another process simultaneously. The description, by business experts, and the implementation, by developers, of these choreographed models are highly complex, especially when the activities involved in the processes exchange various data objects and with different cardinalities. We propose the automatic detection of the synchronization points, when a choreographed process model is needed. The choreography will be derived from the analysis of the process model, data objects consumed and generated through the process, and the data conceptual model that relates the data objects. A graphical tool has been developed to support where the synchronization points must be included, helping to decide about the patterns that describe how a single model can be transformed into a choreographed model.

The last decade have witnessed a profusion of research work on the crowdsourcing topic. Human skills are essential in achieving high quality answers in crowdsourcing solving tasks. The current paper aims to introduce an innovative crowdsourcing-based solution for a scientific meta-journal. An overall architecture of the proposed system is introduced with a focus on the aggregation of the reviewers' evaluations to produce a final decision. We introduce several aggregation methods adapted to the nature of data to fusion and discuss them. In addition, we discuss future challenges that cope with the proposed system.

Corporate credit ratings are based on a variety of information, including financial statements, annual reports, management interviews, etc. Financial indicators are critical to evaluate corporate creditworthiness. However, little is known about how qualitative information hidden in firm-related documents manifests in credit rating process. To address this issue, this study aims to develop a methodology for extracting topical content from firm-related documents using latent semantic analysis. This information is integrated with traditional financial indicators into a multi-class corporate credit rating prediction model. Informative indicators are obtained using a correlation-based filter in the process of feature selection. We demonstrate that Naive Bayesian networks perform statistically equivalent to other machine learning methods in terms of classification performance. We further show that the "red flag" values obtained using Naive Bayesian networks may indicate a low credit quality (non-investment rating classes) of firms. These findings can be particularly important for investors, banks and market regulators.

In this paper we analyze how some notions of Item Response Theory (IRT) may be used to analyze the process of scoring the negotiation template and building the negotiation offer scoring system. In particular we focus on evaluating and analyzing the accuracy and concordance of such scoring systems with the preferential information provided to negotiators by the represented party. In our research we use the dataset of bilateral electronic negotiations conducted by means of Inspire negotiation support system, which provides users with decision support tools for preference analysis and scoring system building based on SMART/SAW method. IRT allows us to consider how the potential accuracy of individual scoring systems can be explained by both negotiators' intrinsic abilities to use decision support tool and understand the scoring mechanism, and the difficulty of applying this scoring mechanism.

The contemporary business environment is characterized by intense global competition, emphasis on the use of technology and need for integrating business processes. In that context, organizations are urged to reduce their costs, increase their productivity and improve customer satisfaction. Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems represent state-of-the-art information technologies that are able to integrate business processes within and beyond organizational boundaries and facilitate the flow of information across all functions. Despite that, ERP implementation projects are complicated, costly and include high failure risks. Moreover, Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) rarely possess the appropriate resources and expertise in order to successfully implement ERP systems. The present study aims (a) to develop and (b) empirically test a conceptual framework that investigates the factors affecting ERP system effective implementation in SMEs. The examination of the conceptual framework was made with the use of a newly-developed structured questionnaire that was distributed to a group of Greek SMEs. The reliability and the validity of the questionnaires were thoroughly examined, while research hypotheses were tested using the "Structural Equation Modeling" (SEM) technique.

Much research that analyzes the evolution of a software ecosystem is confined to its own boundaries. Evidence shows, however, that software ecosystems co-evolve independently with other software ecosystems. In other words, understanding the evolution of a software ecosystem requires an especially astute awareness of its competitive landscape and much consideration for other software ecosystems in related markets. A software ecosystem does not evolve in insulation but with other software ecosystems. In this research, we analyzed the Open-Stack software ecosystem with a focal perspective that attempted to understand its evolution as a function of other software ecosystems. We attempted to understand and explain the evolution of OpenStack in relation to other software ecosystems in the cloud computing market. Our findings add to theoretical knowledge in software ecosystems by identifying and discussing seven different mechanisms by which software ecosystems mutually influence each other: sedimentation and embeddedness of business relationships, strategic management of the portfolio of business relationships, firms values and reputation as a partner, core technological architecture, design of the APIs, competitive replication of functionality and multi-homing. Research addressing the evolution of software ecosystem should, therefore, acknowledge that software ecosystems entangle with other software ecosystems in multiple ways, even with competing ones. A rigorous analysis of the evolution of a software ecosystem should not be solely confined to its inner boundaries.

In the last decade, social network analytics and related data analysis methodologies have helped big players gain enormous influence on the web, largely due to clever centralistic data collection in major data lakes. In the form of recommender systems, this can also be seen as world-scale group decision support. In our research, we have been more interested in how these kinds of technologies can spill over to smaller-scale communities of interest in the long tail of the internet. Examples include learning communities and open source software development communities of individuals, but also questions of controlled data and knowledge sharing among small and medium enterprises or medical institutions. Especially in the latter cases, we often face strongly conflicting goals that need to be negotiated to mutually acceptable solutions, quite along the original GDSS and NSS visions of Mel Shakun and colleagues. One example is medical research support on rare diseases which raises the need for data sharing across multiple health organizations (not necessarily being fond of each other) in a fully transparent, fraud-resistant research process while preserving best-possible privacy of patient data. We end with a summary of the Industrial Data Space initiative recently proposed by Fraunhofer which aims at architectures, rules and tools for data sovereignty in cross-organizational data management and analytics.
