Imperative languages like BPMN are eminently suitable for representing routine processes and are likewise cumbersome in case of flexible processes. The latter are easier to describe using declarative process modeling languages (DPMLs). However, understandability and tool support of DPMLs are comparatively poor. Additionally, there may be an affinity to a particular language caused by existing company infrastructure or individual preferences. Hence, a technique for automatically translating process models between different languages is required. Process models usually describe several aspects of a process, such as activity orderings and role assignments. Therefore, our approach focuses on translating resource-aware process models. We utilize well-established techniques for process simulation and mining to avoid the definition of cumbersome model transformation rules. Our implementation is based on a discussion of general configuration principles and a concrete configuration suggestion. The whole translation approach is discussed and evaluated at the example of BPMN and DPIL.

Capabilities characterize ability and capacity to provide business services in different circumstance in accordance to performance requirements. The Capability Driven Development methodology provides means for designing and evaluating such capabilities. This paper specifically focuses on the capacity aspect of capability design. It assumes that every capability is delivered by using a specific set of resources and delivery performance directly depends upon availability of appropriate resources. A method for evaluation of capacity requirements is proposed in the paper. Its application is illustrated using an example of design of information technology management services.

Predicting the final state of a running process, the remaining time to completion or the next activity of a running process are important aspects of runtime process management. Runtime management requires the ability to identify processes that are at risk of not meeting certain criteria in order to offer case managers decision information for timely intervention. This in turn requires accurate prediction models for process outcomes and for the next process event, based on runtime information available at the prediction and decision point. In this paper, we describe an initial application of deep learning with recurrent neural networks to the problem of predicting the next process event. This is both a novel method in process prediction, which has previously relied on explicit process models in the form of Hidden Markov Models (HMM) or annotated transition systems, and also a novel application for deep learning methods.

In this paper, we present a genetic algorithmic approach to automated auction mechanism design in the context of cat games. This is a follow-up to one piece of our prior work in the domain, the reinforcement learning-based grey-box approach [14]. Our experiments show that given the same search space the grey-box approach is able to produce better auction mechanisms than the genetic algorithmic approach. The comparison can also shed light on the design and evaluation of similar search solutions to other domain problems.

This exploratory research proposes to examine reasons, emotions and practices of the value co-destruction in the virtual community. A qualitative exploratory study using the netnography method combined with the critical incidents technique was conducted. The results clarify, firstly, that the corporate misbehavior, the unfairness of the firm and the failure of the consumer experience are the main reasons of the value co-destruction, and secondly, that many emotions for example anger and feelings of betrayal can conduct to negative consumer practices. These practices can destroy the value in the virtual community. We mainly cite the boycott of the brand, the vengeance of Internet users, and the reduction of patronage in particular the comparison with other competing brands.

Together with the growth of e-commerce sector, companies are focusing more and more attention on website quality evaluations. Evolution along with an ever-growing set of available methods are being observed for online shopping platforms, as well as auctions, and it is creating better representations of various characteristics and parameters. The following article presents a usability study of auction websites based on the PEQUAL methodology. The used method is based on the extended version of classical EQUAL method with taken into account different aspects of preference modelling and aggregation derived from Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA). Presented empirical verification has been conducted out for top auction websites and results show significant practical possibilities of analysis of obtained results.

In dynamic and competitive environments, firms have several challenges to resolve in order to improve performance. However, it's difficult to manage multiple projects with multiple local or remote teammates. For this reasons, projects manager should use a tool that helps them to manage, discuss, communicate, monitor and work with team members in order to increase significantly the effectiveness of the project. Our research presents a vision of project management combining managerial and computing points of view. We present the different empirical solutions managing projects. Finally, we proposed a solution to enterprises via an online project manager developed on PHP7 focusing on three main axes: Planning, Organisation, and Control. The use of free tools minimizes the costs of integration and deployment of the proposed software. This solution allows the company to find the right balance between a good organization of the project, cost and delays.

Agile methodologies are established in software development projects. Agility emphasizes, e.g. rapid development and facilitates communication among all stakeholders. Therefore, these principles might be useful in business Process Modeling projects too. Till now, it is not clear how these principles could be applied in business process modeling. The contribution of this paper is a mapping of challenges in BPM projects and agile principles from software engineering that were derived from literature and own industrial projects. This comparison provides a basis of decision making which agile methods could be applied in a BPM project to face specific challenges.

Recent years have seen an increase in the concern for the environment, with attempts being made to raise public awareness about the need to have sustainable development that enables the use of any resource in the present, without compromising its future. This concept of sustainability should be applied in the lifestyle of individuals, but also in companies or organizations that deal with business process management, known as BPM. This would allow the creation of business processes that are more sustainable and which use resources more efficiently;this is the concept of Green BPM. It is thus of prime importance to find an incentive for the workers in the companies to get involved in these sustainable initiatives. This has led to a consideration of the need to incorporate gamification, i.e., the use of game elements in non-game contexts in an effort to induce certain behaviors in people. The aim of these games would be to enhance participation and foster commitment to sustainable development. With all these issues in mind, in this article the BPMS-Game tool is described;the tool combines the concepts of gamification, sustainability, and business processes to support the definition of games that promote sustainability in BPM environments. A set of base and derived measures have been defined to evaluate the user behavior with respect to sustainability in their daily work when using a BPMS system. The contributions that BPMS-Game can offer are illustrated with a representative example.

A board of directors is a supreme organism of a modern company. Often, a single board member has a place in several companies' management teams. This is called a board interlock and its impact on a single board member, companies and the economics on the whole has been studied for decades. However, there is a lack of understanding how software companies' board of directors interlock as the field is driven by knowledge and relations more heavily than the other fields. Therefore, well-connected board members could be a vital competitive advantage for companies. This study presents a quantitative analysis of 262 Finnish software companies, their boards and performance. The results show that neither high board interlocks nor foreign board members are remarkably related on the performance of companies. The implications of the findings are discussed and future research inquiries are proposed.
