This paper discusses early findings of the research in progress to create an approach to support an organization in bridging the gap between existing business processes and policies. business processes are valuable assets of any organization, and business process modelling has become the key activity for capturing and analysing business processes. However, advances in technology, growing expectation of openness by research funders, competition, regulations in IT security and privacy, and overall economic situation facilitate emergence of new policies, and urge enterprises to change their business processes to be compliant with the new requirements. The goal of the research is to propose the approach for closing the gap between business process models and legal states of business objects described in policies by means of using Bunge-Wand-Weber model. The approach includes means for explicit definition of legal and illegal state spaces of business objects in (1) policies, and (2) as-is business process models, and compliance checking between state spaces of (1) and (2) to indicate the gap. It is an initial input for building to-be business process models that are complaint with newly imposed policies. As a running example to illustrate the approach a publishing business process of a scholar journal is used. New policies from research funders require Open Access (OA) to all outputs from publicly-funded research, and business processes of publishing scholar journals require changes.

A social network enables individuals to communicate with each other by posting information, comments, messages, images, etc. In most applications, a social network is modelled by a graph with vertices and edges. Vertices represent individuals and edges represent social interactions between the individuals. A social network is said to have community structure if the nodes of the network can be grouped into sets of nodes such that each set is densely connected internally. The investigation of the community structure in the social network is an important issue in many domains and disciplines such as marketing and bio-informatics. Community detection in social networks can be considered as a graph clustering problem where each community corresponds to a cluster in the graph. The goal of conventional community detection methods is to partition a graph such that every node belongs to exactly one cluster. However, in many social networks, nodes participate in multiple communities. Therefore, a node's communities can be interpreted as its social circles. Thus, it is likely that a node belongs to multiple communities. We propose in this paper a new overlapping community detection method which can be adopted for several real world social networks requiring non-disjoint community detection.

business process architectures allow to organize business processes and their relations. The entity-centric approach for business process modeling may offer new insights on this field. We present an entity-centric procedure for deriving a business process architecture baseline using the following core ideas: (i) domain model entities may be interpreted as business entities at a higher level of abstraction than usually used by entity-centric approaches, (ii) domain model relationships provide useful information for deriving a business processes architecture. We present the procedure in combination with an application example. The resulting business process architecture baseline specifies: (i) decomposition, specialization, and trigger relations, and (ii) core and support classification of business processes. These results show the potential of our approach. The main contribution of our work is providing guidelines to obtain business process architectures that may be used as reference models for companies within the same industry.

Over the past decades, we have witnessed changes into how individual's pay. In particular, there has been a drop in the use of cash as payment instrument both in terms of value and frequency. Consequently, the amount of outstanding cash is shrinking. For instance, in Sweden the level of cash is around 1.5% of Gross Domestic Product. This might be a tipping point for when cash is of practical use. In the paper, we present a research model that explores when merchants will stop accepting cash.

Clinical pathways are highly variable and although many patients may follow similar pathway each individual will experience a unique set of events, for example with multiple repeated activities or varied sequences of activities. Process mining techniques are able to discover generalizable pathways based on data mining of event logs but using process mining techniques on a raw clinical pathway data to discover underlying healthcare processes is challenging due to this high variability. This paper involves two main contributions to healthcare process mining. The first contribution is developing a novel approach for event selection and outlier removing in order to improve pattern detection and thus representational quality. The second contribution is to demonstrate a new open access medical dataset, the MIMIC-III (Medical information Mart for Intensive Care) database, which has not been used in process mining publications. In this paper, we developed a new method for variations reduction in clinical pathways data. Variation can result from outlier events that prevent capturing clear patterns. Our approach targets the behavior of repeated activities. It uses interval-based patterns to determine outlier threshold based on the time of events occurring and the distinctive attribute of observed events. The approach is tested on clinical pathways data for diabetes patients with congestive heart failure extracted from the MIMIC-III medical database and analyzed using the ProM process mining tool. The method has improved model precision conformance without reducing model fitness. We were able to reduce the number of events while making sure the mainstream patterns were unaffected. We found that some activity types had a large number of outlier events whereas other activities had a relatively few. business process models and ontologies are two essential knowledge artifacts that utilize similar information sources. In this sense, building and managing the relationships between ontologies and business process models provide benefits such as enhanced semantic quality of both artifacts and effort savings. In this study, the PROMPTUM toolset, that enables to model relations between the ontologies and the labels within the process model collections, is presented. In establishing these relations, the PROMPTUM toolset enables definition and management of labels and terms within labels of the process models and the process model elements as resources of domain ontologies. Thus, a related resource is managed as a single resource representing the same real-world object in both artifacts in both creation and maintenance. By providing the required features, the toolset supports not only building business process models and domain ontologies together but also building business process models by using existing ontologies and developing ontologies by using business process model collections.

Research has dealt many times with behavior as success factor for negotiation outcome. So far, these factors are limited to a specific negotiation situation while no insights into a negotiator's most recommendable behavior for successive episodes exist. Accordingly, in this work, the effect of pre-negotiation behavior on the main negotiation episode is examined through a buyer-seller negotiation experiment. Records of online chats were investigated by means of content analysis and combined with questionnaire results in order to reveal behavioral patterns in the pre-negotiation and their consequences onto the main negotiation. Two main behavioral streams have been identified: visionary behavior that emphasizes future collaboration in a positive setting and power-related behavior that rather discloses dominating and imposing elements. This study found that visionary behavior in the pre-negotiation episode leads to more success than a power-related behavior in terms of the general agreement on a negotiation's conduction and the opponent's concession attitude.

In the preparation phase of negotiation processes, the decision problem needs to be identified to assign preferences and thus enable offer evaluation. However, in software requirements negotiations, identification of the required decision problem structure is not easy, since requirements negotiations vary due to organisational factors such as stakeholders involved or the software development method applied. This paper identifies decision problem structures in software requirements negotiations using a literature-based research approach. In doing so, a matrix of decision relevant information in software requirements negotiations and their representation in a negotiation context is developed. The matrix can be utilised as a framework to select appropriate scenarios of decision problem structures in software requirements negotiations.

Automated negotiation mechanisms (ANMs) can be used to semi-automatically negotiate well-structured but complex contracts. Such negotiations among multiple negotiators, who are represented by software agents, can easily reach a deadlock because they block each others proposals. This of course leads to inferior results. Our aim is to improve the performance of ANMs. In this paper, we try to overcome deadlocks during automated single negotiation text by using compensation payments. Compensation payments are calculated by a mediator according to the Nucleolus method from cooperative game theory. It guarantees that a unique payment is calculated in any case. Furthermore, it lies in the Core, if the Core exists. The proposed ANM can be vulnerable against shading the desired compensation payments. However, our computational experiments suggest that the negotiation results are both superior and faster compared to an ANM without compensation payments. The dominance increases with an increasing number of negotiators.
