Process discovery techniques have successfully been applied in a range of domains to automatically discover process models from event data. Unfortunately existing discovery techniques only discover a behavioral perspective of processes, where the data perspective is often as a second-class citizen. Besides, these discovery techniques fail to deal with object-centric data with many-to-many relationships. Therefore, in this paper, we aim to discover a novel modeling language which combines data models with declarative models, and the resulting object-centric behavioral constraint model is able to describe processes involving interacting instances and complex data dependencies. Moreover we propose an algorithm to discover such models.

The main scope of the research is to analyse Unified Modelling Language (UML) models generation process from Enterprise Model (EM) in information Systems (IS) development process by using knowledge-based subsystem. The knowledge-based subsystem is proposed as an additional computer aided software engineering (CASE) tool component to avoid IS development process based on empirics. For comprehensible perception there is also presented relation between EM and ontologies and its use in generation process. As the result of this part of research transformation algorithms are presented and described. These algorithms are capable of whole UML models elements generation from Enterprise Model. Example of UML Interaction Overview model generation illustrates full process.

Shadow information technology systems (SITS) coexist with formal enterprise systems in organisations. SITS pose risks but also increase flexibility of business units. Practice shows that SITS emerge, despite that Enterprise Architecture Management (EAM) aims at controling all IT systems in an organization. Studies acknowledge this problem in general. However, they neither show the specific influencing areas of SITS nor provide approaches to address them. To close this gap, we use a literature review to analyse examples of practical SITS and their interference with EAM concerns. Thus, we find that they hinder especially transparency, reduction of EA complexity and governance. Research has focused on achieving transparency, governing the evolution of the EA but lacks strategies for reducing complexity. This study contributes to research and practice by uncovering the main influencing areas of SITS on EAM, as well as by laying a foundation for future research on this topic.

Recommender systems have shown to be valuable tools that help users find items of interest in situations of information overload. These systems usually predict the relevance of each item for the individual user based on their past preferences and their observed behavior. If the system's assumption about the users' preferences are however incorrect or outdated, mechanisms should be provided that put the user into control of the recommendations, e.g., by letting them specify their preferences explicitly or by allowing them to give feedback on the recommendations. In this paper we review and classify the different approaches from the research literature of putting the users into active control of what is recommended. We highlight the challenges related to the design of the corresponding user interaction mechanisms and finally present the results of a survey-based study in which we gathered user feedback on the implemented user control features on Amazon.

In times of global digitalization and interconnectedness the virtual Cyber Physical Systems (CPS) are getting more and more on importance. These CPS and their relations among themselves can be investigated using appropriate data acquired by the inherent sensors. The multivariate, multiscale, multimodal sensor data can be modeled and analyzed as a dynamically evolving spatio-temporal complex network. These graphs as well as the patterns estimated in historical data can then be used for real time comparison with momentary computed patterns. Therefore providing linked data from memory is an important need to accomplish real time constraints especially in case of CPS in critical medical systems. Since the handling of graphs in the traditional relational database systems is problematic an encouraging approach is the storage of these data in graph databases which are appropriate for the handling of linked data. Therefore we propose the graph database Neo4J and demonstrate first applications of the approach within medical use-cases.

Recommender Systems exploit implicit or explicit user feedback, to create recommendations and provide a personalized user experience. In the case of explicit feedback datasets, the system directly collects the user opinion. On the other hand, to compile implicit feedback datasets the system works passively in the background, tracking different sorts of user behavior, such as browsing activity, watching habits or purchase history. In this work, we focus on implicit feedback recommendation systems. We analyze their unique characteristics and identify their differences to the much more extensively researched explicit feedback systems.

Technical Debt is a metaphor that has, in recent years, helped developers to think about and to monitor software quality. The metaphor refers to flaws in software (usually caused by shortcuts to save time) that may affect future maintenance and evolution. We conducted an empirical study in an academic environment, with nine teams of graduate and undergraduate students during two offerings of a laboratory course on Extreme Programming (XP Lab). The teams had a comprehensive lecture about several alternative ways to identify and manage Technical Debt. We monitored the teams, performed interviews, did close observations and collected feedback. The results show that the awareness of Technical Debt influences team behavior. Team members report thinking and discussing more about software quality after becoming aware of Technical Debt in their projects.

Big data platforms strive to achieve scalability and realtime for query processing and complex analytics over "big" and/or "fast" data. In this context, big data warehouses are huge repositories of data to be used in analytics and machine learning. This work discusses models, concepts and approaches to reach scalability and realtime in big data processing and big data warehouses. The main concepts of NoSQL, Parallel Data Management Systems (PDBMS), MapReduce and Spark are reviewed in the context of scalability. The first two offering data management, the last two adding flexible and scalable processing capacities. We also turn our attention to realtime data processing, lambda architecture and its relation with scalability, and we revisit our own recent research on the issue. Three approaches are included that are directly related to realtime and scalability: the use of a realtime component in a data warehouse, parallelized de-normalization for scalability and execution tree sharing for scaling to simultaneous sessions. With these models and technologies we revisit some of the major current solutions for data management and data processing with scalability and realtime capacities.

This article aims to explore the effects of the use of an ERP system in a manufacturing company on strategy development as described by defined factors. The work is based on a survey and data obtained from 62 Polish manufacturing enterprises from the Lubuskie region, and from 23 German manufacturing enterprises from the Brandenburg region, in which the companies were categorised as either "construction" or "automotive" - a total of 85 manufacturing enterprises. Special attention was placed on the description of understanding the usage of an ERP system within a company. Nevertheless, relatively little information has been published that focuses on the post-implementation stages of ERP usage in a manufacturing company. In particular, this study pays attention to the likely consequences and results of the use of defined functionalities of an ERP system by employees. This is followed by a discussion of the results of the empirical studies and of key supporting literature. The summary indicates potential directions for further work.
