information systems (IS) research has long been promoting the necessity of aligning local IS investments in organizations with their enterprise-wide objectives. One of the prominent means to realize such an alignment are mechanisms that coordinate various stakeholders in different organizational entities. Despite its prominent origins and manifold translations from organization science (OS), there is no single theory on coordination. The research at hand conducts a literature review of the underlying coordination mechanisms to offer a comprehensive understanding of coordination for prospective IS research. To this end and structured in eight categories of mechanisms, we contrast the reflection of coordination in OS and IS research. In outlining implications for future research, we also discuss how IS studies follow and complement OS research.

The lack of a system that assists in the business process out-sourcing to the cloud hinders the widespread adoption of this emerging computing paradigm. To the best of our knowledge, there is no system that has tackled the business process outsourcing to the cloud issues such as selecting the activities to outsource and the cloud services to support their execution based on objective and subjective assessments of cloud services. In this paper, we propose a system tackling these issues by using previous cloud users experience for the subjective assessment. The objective assessment is based on simulations using the well-known CloudSim toolkit. The aggregation of the objective and subjective assessment allows for more reliable cloud service selection. Furthermore, we propose an optimal deployment of business process activities by proposing a novel penalty based genetic algorithm while considering business process profile.

The global conditions for manufacturing are rapidly changing towards shorter product life cycles, more complexity and more turbulence. The manufacturing industry must meet the demands of this shifting environment and the increased global competition by ensuring high product quality, continuous improvement of processes and increasingly flexible organization. Technological developments towards smart manufacturing create big industrial data which needs to be leveraged for competitive advantages. We present a novel IT architecture for data-driven manufacturing, the Stuttgart IT Architecture for Manufacturing (SITAM). It addresses the weaknesses of traditional manufacturing IT by providing IT systems integration, holistic data analytics and mobile information provisioning. The SITAM surpasses competing reference architectures for smart manufacturing because it has a strong focus on analytics and mobile integration of human workers into the smart production environment and because it includes concrete recommendations for technologies to implement it, thus filling a granularity gap between conceptual and case-based architectures. To illustrate the benefits of the SITAM's prototypical implementation, we present an application scenario for value-added services in the automotive industry.

The healthcare sector faces important challenges in evaluating and improving its services to meet desired targets, patient needs, and government requirements. In particular, the introduction of a new process or information system in healthcare is a challenging task, especially in the absence of mature practices for requirements engineering and process modeling. Most of today's healthcare process research is focused on mappings between existing processes and new ones without considering the different needs of multiple stakeholders and the satisfaction of organizational goals. In this paper, we introduce a novel Activity-based Process Integration (AbPI) approach that highlights integration opportunities of each new activity into current processes. AbPI exploits the User Requirements Notation (URN) language to model, analyze, and estimate the potential impact of each integration opportunity on performance objectives, organizational goals, and stakeholder satisfaction. We demonstrate the capabilities of the proposed approach with an illustrative example (increasing patient satisfaction in an Emergency Room). Preliminary results show the feasibility of the approach as well as many potential benefits over existing approaches.

The privacy paradox phenomenon corresponds to the inconsistency between the privacy concerns and the actual behavior of online users. The existence of the phenomenon has been studied in many fields, such as for social networks and especially for a variety of forums and online communities. This paper questions its existence in the context of sensitive data, and more specific in the health data area via a survey which took place in Greece. Given that health-related information is perceived as sensitive personal data it is often excluded from discussions and sharing. This research aims to unravel the paradox's existence regarding the disclosure of health data information when individuals visit related online forums and communities.

Given the large volumes and dynamics of data that recommender systems currently have to deal with, we look at online stream based approaches that are able to cope with high throughput observations. In this paper we describe work on incremental neighborhood based and incremental matrix factorization approaches for binary ratings, starting with a general introduction, looking at various approaches and describing existing enhancements. We refer to recent work on forgetting techniques and multidimensional recommendation. We will also focus on adequate procedures for the evaluation of online recommender algorithms.

Previous works have shown the effectiveness of using stylistic visual features, indicative of the movie style, in content-based movie recommendation. However, they have mainly focused on a particular recommendation scenario, i.e., when a new movie is added to the catalogue and no information is available for that movie (New Item scenario). However, the stylistic visual features can be also used when other sources of information is available (Existing Item scenario). In this work, we address the second scenario and propose a hybrid technique that exploits not only the typical content available for the movies (e.g., tags), but also the stylistic visual content extracted form the movie files and fuse them by applying a fusion method called Canonical Correlation Analysis (CCA). Our experiments on a large catalogue of 13K movies have shown very promising results which indicates a considerable improvement of the recommendation quality by using a proper fusion of the stylistic visual features with other type of features.

For many decades, process models have built the basis for economically successful participation in the market. Companies are still faced with the task of identifying, defining and visualizing their processes, especially in today's era of digitization. In this era and due to more and more complex inter-organizational processes across corporate boundaries, the question arises as whether techniques and approaches for elicitation of processes in the context of business process management have changed or if the established techniques are still appropriate. Here, digitization could have significant potential to automate the elicitation of processes. To address this issue we have conducted a systematic literature review and identified the theoretical requirements for the elicitation of processes. Then, based on an interview study with experienced consultants, we compared the theoretic results with the current applied techniques in today's practice. Selected results are presented and discussed in this paper.

business Process Intelligence (BPI) is an emerging topic that has gained popularity in the last decade. It is driven by the need for analysis techniques that allow businesses to understand and improve their processes. One of the most common applications of BPI is reporting, which consists on the structured generation of information (i.e., reports) from raw data. In this article, state-of-the-art process mining techniques are used to periodically produce automated reports that relate the actual performance of students of a Dutch University to their studying behavior. To avoid the tedious manual repetition of the same process mining procedure for each course, we have designed a workflow calling various process mining techniques using RapidProM. To ensure that the actual students' behavior is related to their actual performance (i.e., grades for courses), our analytic workflows approach leverages on process cubes, which enable the dataset to be sliced and diced based on courses and grades. The article discusses how the approach has been operationalized and what is the structure and concrete results of the reports that have been automatically generated. Two evaluations were performed with lecturers using the real reports. During the second evaluation round, the reports were restructured based on the feedback from the first evaluation round. Also, we analyzed an example report to show the range of insights that they provide.
