Self-customization of services is an approach, where customers configure a service to their individual preferences by assistance of a system for self-customization. This paper concentrates on the self-customization of business services in a multi actor environment, where different service providers as part of a service network provide service-modules, which are selected and combined by the customer. Existing concepts as well as the exemplar of a service value adding system as given by a Fourth Party Logistics provider are used to define requirements on the functionality of a service self-customization system. The determined functionality is merged and presented in a model.

Companies in dynamic environments have to react to certain market events. Reactions can be short-term and influence the behavior of running process instances or they can be mid-term or long-term and cause the redesign of the process. In both situations, insights into the process flow are necessary and provided by Process Data Warehouse Systems. This paper proposes to derive the data warehouse structures from the meta model of the BPMN (business Process Model and Notation), the actual de-facto standard of workflow languages. The resulting data structure is generic in order to be portable between application domains and to be stable in case of changing workflows.

This study investigated how students perceive the use of mobile technologies during studying process. Although mobile devices are ubiquitous among students, their awareness and readiness to use mobile technologies for studying is still not enough widespread and thus should still be explored especially in various cultural context. Therefore proper study was based on the Unified Theory of Technology Acceptance (UTAUT) to explain determinants impacting students' intention to use mobile devices and software for studying. Structural equation modelling was used to analyze data collected from 370 students from two universities in Poland. Additionally study allowed to verify the correctness of UTAUT model in this context. The findings showed that the UTAUT model extended with no existing in it connections between Facilitating conditions (FC) and Behavioral intention to use (BI) explains students' acceptance of m-learning for higher education reasonably well. As a result elaborated model provides a valuable solution with practical implications for increasing mobile technologies acceptance for studying process. More specifically Facilitating conditions occurred to have both impact on Behavioral intention to use and Effort expectancy. This highlights that in contrast to UTAUT model FC does not have to be exclusively associated with Use behavior. Moreover a connection between other UTAUT variables as Effort expectancy and Performance expectancy has been confirmed. Therefore research results showed that UTAUT model can be extended not only with new variables but also with new connections between existing ones.

Prior research has provided a number of approaches for the specification and analysis of service processes. However, little is known about their level of maturity regarding considered dimensions and characteristics. The present study represents a first step towards filling this gap. Drawing upon recent formalizations and delineations of service, a model for assessing the maturity of service modeling and analysis tools is derived. As part of a systematic literature review, it is applied to a set of 47 service blueprinting techniques to determine their maturity. The study's findings indicate a high level of maturity regarding control flow and resource integration for most of the identified approaches. However, there are several shortcomings with respect to the input and output dimensions of the service process. The study proposes a set of research questions to stimulate future research and address the identified shortcomings.

The goal of our paper is to examine if human potentiality (HP) affects IT professionals' organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) in relation to Poland (transition economy) and Germany (developed economy). For the goal of the study the authors elaborated two novel questionnaires: the Human Potentiality Inventory (HPI) and adapted Employee Behavior Questionnaire (EBQ). We investigated seven dimensions of the HP and two dimensions of the OCB. We collected necessary data by random interpersonal network and sequence sampling. We also applied the passive optimal experiment design, conducted among IT professionals, in Germany and Poland. Our findings confirmed the effects of nationality and association between HP and OCB among IT professionals, in Germany and Poland. The novelty of the study is the cross cultural approach, experimental passive design and recognition of association between human potentiality and organizational citizenship behavior.

Enterprise business process management is directly affected by how effectively it designs and coordinates decision making. To ensure optimal process executions, decision management should incorporate decision logic documentation and implementation. To achieve the separation of concerns principle, the OMG group proposes to use Decision Model and Notation (DMN) in combination with business Process Model and Notation (BPMN). However, often in practice, decision logic is either explicitly encoded in process models through control flow structures, or it is implicitly contained in process execution logs. Our work proposes an approach of semi-automatic derivation of DMN decision models from process event logs with the help of decision tree classification. The approach is demonstrated by an example of a loan application in a bank.

Background. This article focuses on one of the most important topic for future life and economy - Internet of Things. Research aims. Indicate business models that apply to the Internet Things. Method. Theoretical analysis of the phenomenon of Internet of Things. Analysis of fifty-five business models. Indication of thirty-three models of the Internet of Things. Key findings. Analyzing a broad variety of companies (up to 400 cases) Gass-mann, Frankenberger and Csik identify fifty-five business model patterns that either individually or together build the fundament of the majority of currently existing business models. These models can be the basis of creating business models Internet of Things. The author of this article from fifty-five models selected thirty-three models and pointed their application in the field of Internet of Things. These thirty-three models can be successfully used in the Internet of Things on four specified layers and in eleven areas. These models may also be the starting point for creating new business models or inspiration for the creation of a completely new, innovative models. Specification of these new models will be the target for further studies.

Software development and the digital services market are currently growing very rapidly and, as most other areas, are subject to processes of globalisation. As a consequence, ICT companies need personnel prepared to work in international environments. This applies especially to developing economies, such as Poland. In the paper we present the results of research among computer science students and software developing enterprises regarding student preparedness to study in English and the needs of software companies in hiring graduates of such studies. Apart from the desire to study in English and to employ English-speaking graduates, motives of such decisions by students and the benefits offered by employers are examined. The general conclusions of the research are positive. Both students and employers point to the need for Computer Science studies in English. Unfortunately, students' expectations regarding the benefits of the completion of such studies and the actual benefits offered by employers are divergent.

The IT unit is not the only provider of information technology (IT) used in business processes. Aiming for increased work performance, many business workgroups autonomously implement IT resources not covered by their organizational IT service management. This is called shadow IT. Associated risks and inefficiencies challenge organizations. This study proposes design principles for a method to control identified shadow IT following action design research in four organizational settings. The procedure results in an allocation of task responsibilities between the business and the IT units following risk considerations and transaction cost economics. This contributes to governance research regarding business-located IT activities.

Effective user requirements elicitation is a key factor for the success of software development projects. There are many qualitative and quantitative research studies that promulgate particular methods and show the application of user requirements elicitation in particular domains. However, few try to eliminate the burden of ambiguity in gathered data, naturally occurring in different groups of stakeholders. This paper deals with this problem by introducing an ontologybased approach which by design provides a shared and common understanding of a domain. On the other hand, the developed ontology is a feasible communication facility for the stakeholders involved, acknowledged and controlled by a group of experts.
