The purpose of this paper is to investigate how service innovations (in a living lab context) contribute to co-create value in a service network. Exploratory research is developed using a qualitative approach and case study on mobility services in Bologna. Our findings reveal that the involved entities are able to recombine their existing resources and design a new value proposition based on the ICT solution. Theoretical and empirical research suggests that collaboration and participation in decision making are critical to service system reconfiguration. The study shows the importance of including insights from Service Science Management and Engineering and Design (SSMED) in the management of network theory. Moreover, the research paves the way for new perspectives on analysis of local governance issues based on value co-creation processes in the ICT service solution context. Using this perspective, service innovations in the overall management of public services view a city as a Smart Local Service System (SLSS), whose competitiveness depends on its ability to access and share common resources to create mutual value.

Staff motivation leads to more efficiency, quality and enjoyment while performing tasks and fulfilling business requirements. Software-based motivation is the use of technology, such as gamification, persuasive technology and entertainment computing to facilitate and boost such behaviour and attitude. Despite its importance and unique peculiarities, motivation is not yet seen as a first class concept in enterprise modelling and requirements engineering literature. An ad-hoc design and deployment of software-based motivation might be detrimental and menace significantly other functional and non-functional requirements of the business, e.g., giving certain requirements more priority, increasing pressure to complete tasks, increasing competition to win the reward, etc. In this research, we follow a mixed method approach to conceptualise software-based motivation within enterprises taking the perspective of managers and employees and, also, experts from a wide range of domains including psychology, HCI, human factors in computing and software engineering. Our findings suggest the need for a personalised and human-centred engineering method of software-based motivation within enterprises which treats their profiles and preferences as equally important to their business roles. A blueprint of such method is introduced.

This research centres on Usability Evaluation Methods (UEMSs) with the aim of supporting developers' decisions in the use of learning resources in achieving efficient usable system design. The suggestion is made pertaining to a new usability evaluation model dEv (stand for Design Evaluation) with the objective to support decisions to overcome three key obstacles: firstly, the involvement of users in the preliminary stages of the development process;(2) developers' mind set-related issues as a result of either their lack of UEMS or the provision of too many;and (3) the complete lack of understanding surrounding UEMS importance. An experimental approach was applied in addition to a survey-based questionnaire in an effort to examining the issues pertaining to UEMS. Empirical works were carried out with system developers in order to test the dEv, the results of which have been presented from the empirical study to support various considerations, such as: system developers' decisions and their involvement in the earlier phases of the design of systems;the gathering of specifications and end-users' feedback;and enhancing usability evaluation learning capacity.

A growing number of organizations are moving towards more open and collaborative workplaces. In these offices workers share a common open space, often with flexible seating based on activities, so called activity-based offices. Most problems in these workplaces are related to sound. Thus, the question of how to design suitable acoustic environments, supporting both collaborative and individual work, has emerged. Noise-reduction approaches do not suffice. In this study we explored the possibility of adding context-sensitive, activity-based sound environments to enhance the office workplace. For this purpose, we developed the "sound bubble," a prototype for individual work, sonically immersing the listener and generating a sensation of an encapsulating sonic environment. A total of 43 test subjects participated in an experiencebased test using the sound bubble prototype while conducting self-selected, ordinary work tasks in their office landscape. Their behaviors during the test were observed and documented. All participants took a post-experience questionnaire about experiences working in the sound bubble, and two subjects were interviewed. The responses show that the sound bubble can enhance auditory work conditions for individual work that demands concentration.

The hierarchical abstraction used in business process modeling is a strong feature which requires careful application by analysts in order to take the advantage of the benefits it brings. Failing in this case may not only bring headache to the analysts, when trying to manage the complexity of the created model, but also turn the whole created business process model useless. In this paper we look at research that has been done in the field of the business process abstraction level management according to which we review and extend the Methodology for Modeling and Analysis of business Processes (MMABP). Eventually we discuss the benefits the extended MMABP brings compared to the current state-of-the-art.

business process models are an essential issue of enterprise modeling because business process modeling is the means for performing a wide range of tasks, such as documentation, communication, business improvement, and capturing requirements for software design up to creation of executable process descriptions. Nowadays a wide range of general purpose business process modeling languages are used for handling these tasks. Constantly also a number of the general purpose modeling language extensions and domain specific modeling languages (DSL) are being developed. Thus, obviously, the universal business process modeling language that would be suitable for all the modeling purposes does not (yet) exist. In such a situation the modeler is faced with the problem of choosing a business process modeling language suitable for a certain modeling purpose. This paper proposes to base the choice of the language on a formalized business process modeling goal and a three dimensional business process modeling framework. The paper also describes how to use the proposed framework to measure the modeling language conformity to a certain modeling goal using a general business process element taxonomy and metrics.

Gamification in consumer mobile applications involves unique usability interaction and gestures, environmental setting, and consumers' short attention span. In addition, privacy concerns introduce constraints to the gamified social activities particularly due to usage of social sharing. This paper presents mobile gamification principles applied at GAMIFO PaaS, a gamification-based social engagement cloud platform, and suggests requirements for constructing a flexible gamification toolset tuned for mobile applications. A case study is discussed with regard to the impact of location detection, Gyro and alerting, as well as gamification adjustment for mobile setting, such as the separation of allocated and redeemed events and timing of consumers' attention. During the field experiments over 40 marketing campaigns were investigated, in which sales conversion ratio varied from 5 % to 50 %.

On-line retailers as well as e-shoppers are very interested in gathering product records from the Web in order to compare products and prices. The consumers compare products and prices to find the best price for a specific product or they want to identify alternatives for a product whereas the on-line retailers need to compare their offers with those of their competitors for being able to remain competitive. As there is a huge number and vast array of product offers in the Web the product data needs to be collected through an automated approach. The contribution of this papers is a novel approach for automatically identify and extract product records from arbitrary e-shop websites. The approach extends an existing technique which is called Tag Path Clustering for clustering similar HTML tag paths. The clustering mechanism is combined with a novel filtering mechanism for identifying the product records to be extracted within the websites.

Electronic signatures are a crucial building block of transactional e-services. This especially applies to the European Union, where so-called qualified electronic signatures are legally equivalent to their handwritten pendant. For many years, signature solutions, which enable users to create electronic signatures, have been designed for classical end-user devices such as desktop computers or laptops. In most cases, these solutions cannot be easily applied on mobile end-user devices such as smartphones or tablet computers, due to the special characteristics of these devices. This complicates a use of transactional e-services on mobile devices and excludes a growing number of users, who prefer mobile access to services. To tackle this problem, this paper provides a basis for mobile signature solutions that are compatible to and applicable on mobile end-user devices. Possible architectures for these solutions are systematically derived from an abstract model first. Then, the best alternative is determined by means of systematic assessments. In particular, the aspects security and usability are considered in detail. This finally yields an implementation-independent and technology-agnostic architecture that can be used as basis for concrete implementations. By keeping the proposed solution on a rather abstract architectural level, its validity is assured, even if available mobile technologies and the current state of the art change. This way, the proposed architecture represents a sustainable basis for future mobile signature solutions and paves the way for transactional e-services on mobile end-user devices.

The paper presents the application of a fuzzy logic in building the trading agents of the A-Trader system. A-Trader is a multi-agent system that supports investment decisions on the FOREX market. The first part of the article contains a discussion related to the use of fuzzy logic as representation of an agent's knowledge. Next, the algorithms of the selected fuzzy logic buy-sell decision agents are presented. In the last part of the article the agent performance is evaluated on real FOREX data.
