Recently, business Process Management (BPM) has increasing demanded reuse of business process models. In order to represent these models, diverse techniques have been used, such as the variability management and business process configuration, arising the business Process Line (BPL) area. In order to model BPL, the joint use of vrBPMN (varant-rich business Process Model and Notation) and Feature Model (FM) has been considered as a relevant alternative. However, there is a kind of FM elements that does not have a properly correspondent in vrBPMN, that is, the IOR element. In addition to that, FM and vrBPMN have some redundant informations. The main contribution of this paper is to propose an extension to the vrBPMN notation, named vrBPMN*, and, together with FM, makes it possible to adequately model BPL. We conducted an empirical study to analyze the viability of using vrPBMN* and FM to model business process, as well as their building time and correctness. As main results, we have observed that the proposed notation favours business process modeling, reducing time and increasing correctness of produced models.

Usability testing has gained a rather stable status as a method for usability evaluation even though it has both low reliability and validity. The sources of result variance are well acknowledged among researchers and practitioners. However, the validity problem has not been explicated or exemplified although it is frequently discussed in the literature how the results of usability tests should be interpreted and to what extent results are generalizable. We employ Activity Theory and a case example to argue that the validity problem is mainly caused by the fact that what we are testing are artifacts and what people are using in their real life activities are tools and these two entities are qualitatively different. Basing on our analysis, the effects of the reliability and validity problems on the application of usability testing and its role as one of the tools in the design process are discussed.

Lion's share of process mining research focuses on the discovery of end-to-end process models describing the characteristic behavior of observed cases. The notion of a process instance (i.e., the case) plays an important role in process mining. Pattern mining techniques (such as traditional episodemining, i.e., mining collections of partially ordered events) do not consider process instances. In this paper, we present a new technique (and corresponding implementation) that discovers frequently occurring episodes in event logs, thereby exploiting the fact that events are associated with cases. Hence, the work can be positioned in-between process mining and pattern mining. Episode Discovery has its applications in, amongst others, discovering local patterns in complex processes and conformance checking based on partial orders. We also discover episode rules to predict behavior and discover correlated behaviors in processes, and apply our technique to other perspectives present in event logs. We have developed a ProM plug-in that exploits efficient algorithms for the discovery of frequent episodes and episode rules. Experimental results based on real-life event logs demonstrate the feasibility and usefulness of the approach.

Replacement of the Project Manager (RPM) is a known phenomenon in information systems (IS) projects, but scholarly articles on the issue are scarce. To help fill this gap, this study provides an explanation of why RPM occurs in IS projects, how it unfolds over time, and how it affects a project. Based on the analysis of qualitative data, a process model is suggested. The model uses the concept of social mechanisms to explain causal relationships. The activation of deterioration mechanisms initiates the demand or need for RPM, and as a response project healing mechanisms are activated. If RPM is decided upon, handover mechanisms are activated, and after handover, the project experiences post-handover mechanisms. The model is a combination of teleological (goal directed) and dialectical (rival forces) motors, as both the joint and individual goals of the participants motivate RPM. However, the attainment of individual goals in some cases conflicts with others' goals during the RPM process.

An efficient process for gathering data from the field is crucial in managing crisis scenarios. In this paper we present a concept system for crisis management with focus on how observations from the field are reported using hand held devices and integrated into a common operational picture. The application used for reporting situation from the field adapts to the current situation in real time by adding and hiding input field based on what the user is reporting. Moreover, the user interface will also adapt to external information request. This is realized by utilizing risk event models for real time risk assessment and identification of areas where information is lacking which can generate new requests for information.

Recommender system provides relevant items to users from huge catalogue. Collaborative filtering and content-based filtering are the most widely used techniques in personalized recommender systems. Collaborative filtering uses only the user-ratings data to make predictions, while content-based filtering relies on semantic information of items for recommendation. Hybrid recommendation system combines the two techniques. In this paper, we present another hybridization approach: User Semantic Collaborative Filtering. The aim of our approach is to predict users preferences for items based on their inferred preferences for semantic information of items. In this aim, we design a new user semantic model to describe the user preferences by using Rocchio algorithm. Due to the high dimension of item content, we apply a latent semantic analysis to reduce the dimension of data. User semantic model is then used in a user-based collaborative filtering to compute prediction ratings and to provide recommendations. Applying our approach to real data set, the MoviesLens 1M data set, significant improvement can be noticed compared to usage only approach, content based only approach.

In a multi-criteria group decision analysis, numerous methods have been developed and proposed to determine the weight of each criterion;however, the group decision methods, except AHP, have rarely considered for obtaining the criteria weights. This study presents a new TOPSIS method based on interval-valued hesitant fuzzy information to compute the criteria weights. In this respect, the weight of each expert and the experts' judgments about the criteria weights are considered in the proposed procedure. In addition, an application example about the location problem is provided to show the capability of the proposed weighting method. Finally, results of the proposed method are compared with some methods from the related literature in the presented illustrative example to show the validation of the proposed interval-valued hesitant fuzzy TOPSIS method.

A GeoSocial Network (GSN) is an online social network enhanced with built-in location services;it can associate user data and content with location coordinates. This content-location link is getting stronger, due to the swift development of fully location-based social networks, and to the fast expansion of the mobile technologies market. As the location information thus gathered generates a huge amount of publicly-available location data, one can perform location-based social discovery with millions of users around the planet. This may sound disturbing to some, since location information has always been considered private, or at least known only to friends or family. Hence, this raises a serious privacy threat. Is being tracked in real time, in most cases by strangers, or having location history disclosed to almost everyone, considered as a privacy invasion that needs to be addressed before all control is lost? In this paper, we look at issues related to GSN applications and explore several questions, such as "How much are we at risk?" and "Are existing location privacy-protection techniques adopted by GSNs sufficient to protect us efficiently?"

Each (electronic) negotiation consists of communication and decision making. We will discuss relevant theories for a strong communication support, in particular for electronic negotiations. To this end, we will looks at the research area of communication modelling that has provided the Language-Action Perspective (LAP) with its underlying theories. We will show how LAP can be operationalised for e-negotiations using the negotiation support system Negoisst as the one example having implemented these concepts. In general, we will argue for the vital role of communication support in e-negotiation processes.

This paper highlights the necessity of knowledge transfer and sharing between young and old people, to avoid skills and expertises loss by the organizations and for co-creating value. The paper depicts how the use of a digital platform providing a common place in which people act and interact could facilitate the exchange of knowledge and experience between these two generations, thus fostering value co-creation. A case study describing the "5020 project" is presented in which this kind of a digital platform is developed. In this scenario, mixed work groups, composed by young and old people, are created, in which people, working together, share the knowledge acquired in the past (respectively at school and on the job by experiences), co-creating value and providing good solutions to requests of enterprises.
