Traditional gaming platforms have been losing relevance with the growing in market share of mobile games. The processing of game logic and graphics using the device's own hardware is a main aspect of the traditional gaming architecture. On the other hand, high input delay and high cost for the service provider are issues posed by cloud based architectures for remote gaming on smartphones. This implies constrained user QoE as well as variety and complexity limitations for games targeting these remote gaming platforms. Intending to address such issues, this work proposes an architecture called Gaming On The Edge (GOTE), that supports complex games to be played on mobile devices enabling the edge computing infrastructure to execute game's graphics processing and content distribution. This work develops and tests a GOTE architecture's proof of concept using WebRTC with RTP video streaming sessions, exploiting NVENC to pursue low latency at video encoding. Experimental results show that GOTE architecture is a viable alternative to cloud based remote gaming on smartphones at the advantage of lowering latency of video and game input.

Artifact-driven process monitoring is a technique that exploits the E-GSM modeling language to seamlessly monitor multiparty business processes. Despite allowing greater flexibility in monitoring, E-GSM makes the modeling and understanding of monitoring results harder than imperative process modeling languages. To overcome this limitation, methods to automatically transform imperative process models into (E-)GSM models have been introduced. However, to the best of our knowledge, no approach to show monitoring results obtained with artifact-driven monitoring over the original imperative process model has been proposed. In this paper, we propose a method to map the results, and in particular execution flow violations, back to BPMN diagrams.

Nowadays, responsiveness is essential to be competitive, particularly in software development. Traditional methods face limitations in meeting this demand for agility, which led to the rise of agile practices. Inspired by their success in small projects, organizations have begun to use agile methods in larger contexts. However, scaling agile practices introduces complexities and requires coordinating teams, managing dependencies, and collaboration. Communities of Practices (CoPs) are argued to address these issues and support organizations in adopting agile methods at scale. Still, empirical insights into the establishment of CoPs in scaled agile settings are limited. This study fills this gap by conducting expert interviews, exploring why organizations applying agile methods at scale adopt CoPs, and examining their characteristics. Our key findings include that, next to benefit from known advantages of CoPs, like knowledge sharing, organizations establish them to foster empowerment, strengthen alignment, and drive their agile transformation. Moreover, CoPs focus not only on agile but also on classical themes such as architecture. Communities are not necessarily established bottom-up but are often initiated by management, e.g., to empower employees. In general, CoPs are accepted by management and play an essential role in decision-making.

Cross-organizational process mining (coPM) with data from at least two organizations assists cooperating organizations in optimizing their operations by enabling an in-depth and continuous process analysis. As coPM faces unique challenges and is rarely applied, we followed a design science-based approach and developed a three-step extension to the PM project methodology to integrate data across organizational boundaries. Each organization first creates a local event data knowledge graph (KG). Second, a trusted third party integrates all local KGs into a global KG. Third, a federated event log and process knowledge are retrieved for coPM analysis. Overall, we present the first version of a methodology to support data integration for coPM, thereby assisting researchers and practitioners in unlocking value potentials from coPM analysis.

The majority of non-profit organizations, including those in the sustainability sector, use Theory of Change to define, plan, and evaluate their change initiatives [14, 26]. "Theory of Change is essentially a comprehensive description and illustration of how and why a desired change is expected to happen in a particular context." [5] Both, Theory of Change and Agile acknowledge that before a plan is validated by implementation, everything is an assumption and all assumptions may have to change until validated by delivery. Therefore, planning and evaluation must both be responsive to change, and both must incorporate new learning. This paper presents an overview of Theory of Change and examines how it can align and connect with Agile. The agile community is starting to take more responsibility for sustainability, and it is beginning to support the sustainability sector as the second appearance of the "Workshop on Agile Sustainability" at the XP 2022 conference shows. However, when supporting the sustainability sector, agile practitioners are likely to encounter Theory of Change, and they will need to understand it. Thus, this paper provides an overview of Theory of Change and identifies connections between the Theory of Change approach and agile mindsets, methods, and practices. This will especially help and encourage agile practitioners to support the sustainability sector.

Assuring regulatory compliance of information systems (IS), as a bundle of software systems and business processes, is an important, but costly and continuous effort. Laws formulate demands for quality properties in ambiguous language, requiring substantial interpretation. Industry standards provide support, but remain generic and applicable to heterogeneous company IS contexts. Before compliance measures can be implemented in software assets and processes, a specific interpretation based on the context of each company is a prerequisite. Compliance experts such as auditors support this process by accounting for the perspectives of company stakeholders. Ultimately, however, the complexity of the required knowledge, legal and technical facets prevents organizations from continuously establishing situational awareness or guarantees, and answering the question: is the company currently compliant? We illustrate the complexity of assuring compliance in a qualitative case study with a European, software-driven corporation in the financial industry. Through modeling of an example of annual audits and analyzing literature, we describe the perspectives of the involved stakeholders with their roles, knowledge needs and facets. We observe six challenges: (1) large number of items and links;(2) unclear and implicit links;(3) siloing of knowledge;(4) multiple sources of truth;(5) high costs of learning from audits;and (6) uncertain results of traditional auditing. We discuss the implications of these observed challenges, and briefly explore potential avenues for resolution.

This paper explores the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into project management, proposing a decision support system that optimizes project timelines and resources. The pilot study focuses on the Port of Agios Konstantinos in Greece. The methodology section introduces dual annealing as a stochastic optimization method and explains the use of a customizable cost function with overlap calculation to prioritize project aspects. An objective function is defined to maximize task alignment with optimal scheduling periods. The experimental results section presents three optimization cases, adjusting schedules for critical tasks in the pilot project based on different weightings of budget and weather considerations.

Predictive process monitoring methods predict ongoing case outcomes by analyzing historical process data. Recent studies highlighted the increasing need to enhance the interpretability of these prediction models. This is often achieved by exploiting post-hoc explainable methodologies to assess the importance of different process features on the predicted outcome. However, the significance of the location of process activities on prediction models remains unexplored. In several real-life contexts, there might be potential meaningful relations between the location of the activities and process outcome. This information facilitates insights into process management optimization and decision-making. This paper introduces a novel post-hoc explainable artificial intelligence technique inspired by permutation feature importance to assess the impact of activity locations in predictive models. The experimental results on real-life event logs validate the feasibility of the proposed method, showcasing the influence of the location of (group of) activities on outcome predictions.

The prevalence and the rapid growth of interconnected data have sparked the rise of graph models and systems focusing on the management of large graphs now available both in research and industry. The property graph model allows the representation of information through multigraphs where nodes and edges can have labels and properties (i.e., key-value pairs). The model is becoming very popular and widespread, however related data management technology still faces many challenges, limiting the wide adoption of the model. In this vision paper, we present directions for future work in the domain focusing on the availability of a single declarative graph language, data integration, and scalable data processing. In our view, these areas represent key challenges for advancing research and practical solutions in the domain.

This paper addresses the critical gap in the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), widely adopted across 168 jurisdictions, which lack a formal and explicit shared conceptualization, leading to inconsistencies and challenges in financial report comparability. Despite being based on the Conceptual Framework for Financial Reporting (CF), discrepancies such as those between the concepts of transferability and control persist across different frameworks and standards. We propose a novel solution through the grounding of these concepts in the Unified Foundational Ontology (UFO), which has shown to improve framework coherence significantly. Leveraging this approach, we have developed, refined, and herein present the CF Ontology. Using CF Ontology, we conduct an ontological analysis of the IFRS Revenue from Contracts with Customers and introduce preliminary ontology model for this standard in OntoUML.
