The article presents a practical case of using a modelling technique called Fractal Enterprise Modelling (FEM) to improve a highly regulated financial sector company in the EU. The company had the practical goals of achieving compliance and improving operations in three closely related areas - IT governance, information security management, and privacy management. The project also had an unusual constraint, as it was not possible to use visual models for communication in the project. We decided to use design science principles to investigate whether FEM could be useful within this scenario and its limitations. It turned out that the conceptual structure of FEM fits quite well with the concepts of the three areas, and it was possible to use FEM despite the constraint on its usage. This led to the invention of a new analysis approach to go around the restriction. It included translating patterns defined with FEM into mind maps that were used for conducting interviews. FEM enabled the analyst to systematically, flexibly and quickly explore and understand the company and its state in the three areas. The paper aims to provide practically useful insights to practitioners that want to drive innovation, improve security or achieve compliance.

In the era of digital economy, the digital transformation of enterprises is a key strategic choice for the survival and development of enterprises. This paper gives the definition of enterprise digital transformation based on the subject, technology, scope and expected results through literature induction and comparison. This paper expounds the research status of digital transformation in the view of technological innovation and application, process, results and industrial application. The future development direction is also predicted. Digital transformation is defined as the application of digital technology by enterprises (subject) to build a digital world with full perception, full link, full scene and full intelligence (the technologies involved), and then optimize and reconstruct the business of the physical world, innovate and reshape the traditional management model, business model (scope), and finally achieve business success (expected results). Enterprise digital transformation is an inevitable product driven by internal and external factors. Relevant research on technological innovation and application mainly focuses on the cross-system transformation of enterprises. Process research focuses on transformation process and realization path, etc. Results research focuses on the impact of digital transformation on production efficiency and organizational performance, as well as possible data security problems. The industrial application perspective mainly provides practical cases and data.

Sustainability has captured the attention of the classical management of business processes. Organizations have become increasingly aware of the need to achieve information technology (IT)-enabled business processes that are successful in their economy and ecological and social impact. In this context, Green BPM concerns business processes' modeling, deployment, optimization, and management with dedicated consideration for environmental consequences. Automated process discovery is a crucial process mining task to help organizations to get knowledge of the process they carry out in their daily operation, providing the basis for insights and evidence-based improvement decisions. Several process discovery algorithms have been developed and evaluated by the classical measures on resulting models, such as fitness, precision, f-score, soundness, complexity (size, structuredness, and control-flow complexity), generalization, and the execution time of the algorithm. Within the context of automated process discovery, sustainability adds a new indicator: energy efficiency. This paper extends a well-known benchmark for evaluating automated process discovery methods, measuring the energy efficiency of selected discovery methods with the same publicly available dataset. The expected contribution is to raise more awareness among the developers of process discovery methods about the energy impact of their solutions beyond the more traditional well-known measures.

Based on the investment perspective, this paper takes the data of listed companies on China's SME Board from 2013 to 2019 as a research sample, and conducts an impact analysis and path test on the relationship between stock price overvaluation and investment in digital transformation of listed SMEs. Overall, the results of this paper support the equity financing channel hypothesis that over-valuation of stock prices promotes the capital investment of digital transformation of listed SMEs, but does not support the rational catering channel hypothesis. The research conclusions of this paper provide reference ideas for promoting the digital transformation investment of listed SMEs in China.

Simulation is a powerful tool to explore and analyze business processes and their potential improvements. Recorded event data allow for the generation of data-driven simulation models using process mining. The accuracy of existing approaches, however, remains a challenge. Various efforts are being made to improve the quality of the used data and techniques, such as extracting detailed resource performance. One of the least addressed challenges is the initial state of the simulation run. Starting from a steady state has been considered in simulation in other fields. In current process simulation approaches, the executions mostly start from an empty state. This assumption leads to initialization bias, or the startup problem, which has an impact on the early results and limits the types of analysis that can be performed. In this paper, we propose an approach to estimate a steady state of simulation models, which enables the generation of more realistic simulation results. The evaluation using real-world and synthetic event data shows the requirements for and advantages of starting from representative steady states in process simulations.

The objective of this thesis is to conduct scientific research on the use of data science and artificial intelligence techniques in the practices of automotive dealership companies to assist them in their decision-making processes and to use data-driven methods with modeling approaches for computing these enterprises. By proposing algorithms capable of continuously extracting relevant information from a diverse and multi-structured automotive environment. Due to the large amount of data available within these companies, we will develop algorithms to correctly assess the situation, suggest recommendations for decision-making, develop marketing strategies, and automate manual tasks that cost time, effort, and money.

The fast-growing job market for business Process Management (BPM) specialists and the need to teach the basics of BPM to students of technical, economic, and even medical faculties pose unique challenges to academic institutions that want to equip students with appropriate skills and knowledge. This article uses a two-pronged methodological approach to assess the compatibility between university BPM education programs and labor market requirements. First, web scraping techniques were used to analyze job offers in the BPM area, identifying essential skills and areas of knowledge required by employers. Second, a study of BPM subject syllabuses was conducted to gain insight into perceived gaps in current educational practices. The above research was preceded by a literature review on the education and skills required to implement and use BPM. The study results indicate a significant discrepancy between university BPM programs and the labor market requirements. The article proposes to significantly reduce this gap by, in cooperation with businesses, standardizing BPM courses at universities, starting with the standardization of teaching business process modeling following BPMN and the introduction of nationwide certification of modeling skills in BPMN. These changes will provide students with a more consistent, market-oriented learning experience, potentially increasing their job readiness and employability. The study underscores the urgency for academia to proactively adapt to labor market trends and contributes to the ongoing discourse on the future trajectory of BPM education.

For the deployment of applications, various deployment technologies, such as Kubernetes and Terraform, are available to automate the deployment of applications. However, to use these technologies, developers must acquire specialized knowledge about these deployment technologies to create, maintain, and understand deployment models, for example, configuration files created with Kubernetes. In this work, we present and demonstrate the Deployment Model Abstraction Framework (DeMAF), a tool that enables transforming technology-specific deployment models into technology-agnostic deployment models that are modeled based on the Essential Deployment Metamodel (EDMM). The resulting technology-agnostic EDMM deployment models express deployments only by using the general modeling concepts that are supported by the 13 most prominent technologies. Therefore, the target audience for this demonstration includes developers and architects, who will be shown that such transformations can be automated and that the resulting EDMM models can be understood without knowledge of the original deployment technology. We evaluate the general practical feasibility of the approach by a case study that demonstrates a scenario based on the T2-Project and the technologies Terraform, Kubernetes, and Helm.

Public health emergencies can generate online public opinion on social media platforms such as Weibo. Existing studies show that both temporal and spatial factors have an impact on public opinion, topic and sentiment mining of public health emergency microblogs can realize the monitoring, prediction and guidance of public opinion considering the temporal and spatial factors. Taking the outbreak period of the Delta variant in three different regions of China in 2021 as the research object, this paper constructed a model based on the Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) model, improved SnowNLP lib and sentiment map. Data processing, topicmining and sentiment calculation were carried out to realize the synergistic analysis of topic and sentiment. Results illustrate that this model can reveal the law of online public opinion evolution and sentimental intensity, that online public opinion is influenced by spatial and temporal factors, especially that small cities with smaller volume and attention need to be focused on the observation and guidance of public opinion.

The energy domain is part of Critical Infrastructures (CI), in which Smart Grids (SG) play the role of major enabler of concepts such as Smart Cities. The capability of reasoning through ontologies is of paramount importance to allow a better integration of sensors and devices part of the smart energy domain. In this paper, we provide a comprehensive evaluation of semantic reasoning in the energy domain, by evaluating the performance of ten ontologies in terms of different metrics such as load time and run-time performance, discussing how such ontologies can be applicable in case of deployment on devices with constrained resources.
