Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) are considered as an important tool in Industry 4.0. They provide companies with advantages and benefits by enabling the interconnection of machines and physical devices to digital systems, allowing a real-time data-driven decision-making process. However, for the CPS to be able to support decision-making within the production process of manufacturing companies, a set of technological components need to be implemented and integrated. This paper aims to identify those components by conducting an academic literature review that also allows to understand the use of intelligent CPS in the industry. From the identification of the components, a model for an CPS architecture is proposed. The aim of the model is helping companies be prepared and informed about the layers and components that need to be considered when adopting and implementing a CPS.

Modern businesses are being subjected to an unprecedented variety of change drivers that cannot be predicted such as new regulations, emerging business models, and changing needs of stakeholders. This creates new demands on enterprises to meet stated goals in a dynamic and uncertain environment that translate to demands on the enterprise's software systems. In our earlier work, we proposed an architecture for dynamic adaptation under uncertainty. In this paper, we provide validation of our adaptation architecture through a case study of a wellness ecosystem comprising multiple stakeholders with evolving goals and behavior that need to be continuously learnt and adapted. We present experimentation results from our case study that serve as an initial step towards validating our approach.

Understanding Machine Learning results for the quality assessment of olive oil is hard for non-ML experts or olive oil producers. This paper introduces an approach for interpreting such results by combining techniques of image recognition with knowledge representation and reasoning. The Design Science Research strategy was followed for the creation of the approach. We analyzed the ML results of fluorescence spectroscopy and industry-specific characteristics in olive oil quality assessment. This resulted in the creation of a domain-specific knowledge graph enriched by object recognition and image classification results. The approach enables automatic reasoning and offers explanations about fluorescence image results and, more generally, about the olive oil quality. Producers can trace quality attributes and evaluation criteria, which synergizes computer vision and knowledge graph technologies. This approach provides an applicable foundation for industries relying on fluorescence spectroscopy and AI for quality assurance. Further research on image data processing and on end-to-end automation is necessary for the practical implementation of the approach.

Many enterprise architecture (EA) projects face severe challenges and risks and may even fail. Although the problems are well-known and identified in the literature, the projects keep struggling. It is thus reasonable to ask why they cannot exploit earlier experiences. In this paper, we try to find reasons for these issues by conducting a comparative case study of twelve public sector EA projects in Finland. By using the earlier identified obstacles, risks, and critical success factors as a lens, we show, through participatory observations of the cases, that the problems emerge very differently in different projects, contexts, and the moments of time. This contextuality and temporality necessitates different coping mechanisms as each case is unique and make learning and the application of earlier experiences and practices difficult. We argue that the problems with contextuality and temporality and their inadequate consideration are the main reasons for often failing EA projects.

The Influence of Benefit Appeals in CSR Communication on Consumers' Willingness to Co-creation 1

Based on the background of corporate social responsibility (CSR) communication, this study aims to explore the role of different types of CSR interest appeal information (self-benefit vs. others-benefit) in CSR communication of different consumers on social media, and mainly discuss consumers' willingness to participate in CSR co-creation. A total of 288 valid questionnaires were obtained through an online experiment. The moderating effect of consumer values was verified by "floodlight" analysis and the moderated mediating effect of consumer trust was verified by the Process program. Self-enhancement values have a congruent effect with CSR communication benefit appeals. Specifically, benefit appeals characterized by self-benefit generate higher consumer trust and willingness to co-create value among individuals with high self-enhancement values (vs. low self-enhancement values). CSR credibility and brand trust have a continuous mediating effect in the interaction between self-enhancement values and benefits appeals, while the interaction between self-transcendence values and benefits appeals is not significant. Understanding how consumer values influence consumer responses to CSR social media posts with different interest claims can provide marketers with useful guidance on how to creatively segment customers and curate appropriately targeted messages to effectively connect with consumers on CSR campaigns.

Data breach is a typical IT failure in the process of digitalization, and it helps firms recognize their shortages of IT security capabilities, influencing their IT investment. Drawing from failure learning theory, this study analyzes the influences of data breach on the firm's IT investment and examines the moderating effect of firms' position in the buyer-supplier relationship. Based on data from Compustat, PRC, ITRC, and CI Tech databases in 2009-2016, this study uses a fixed-effect model to analyze the relationships among data breach, buyer-supplier relationship, and firm's IT investment. This study finds that a data breach increases a firm's IT investments. When a firm plays a role as a dependent supplier in the supply chain, the positive effect of data breach on IT investment is weakened. However, when a firm's position in the buyer-supplier relationship is a principal customer, the positive effect of data breach on IT investment is strengthened. Our findings provide practical guidance for firms to better understand and respond to data breaches and improve their IT security capabilities.

Software developed for organizations operating in maritime freight transportation tends to be very complex, as it needs to handle documentation and the planning of a wide range of cargo and equipment, always complying with the different international regulations, sanctions, and local requirements of software integration with different port systems. At the same time, it must be flexible so as to be able to react in a timely manner to the changes in the turbulent business environment. The goal of this research is to provide a new Agile approach for requirements engineering for organizations operating in the maritime freight transportation industry, that is tailored to specific needs of these enterprises and introduces as many benefits from Agile as possible, to achieve needed flexibility. The proposed approach has its roots in related work on agile approaches and a case study in a maritime freight transportation company.

The exchange of information is an essential means for being able to conduct negotiations and to derive situational decisions. In electronic negotiations, information is transferred via the communication channel in the form of requests, offers, questions, and clarifications. Taken together, such information makes or breaks the negotiation. Whilst information analysis has traditionally been conducted through human coding, machine learning techniques nowenable automated analyses. One of the grand challenges of e-negotiation research is the generation of future-oriented predictions whether ongoing negotiations will be accepted or rejected at the end of the negotiation process by considering the previous negotiation course. With this goal in mind, the present research paper investigates how predictive machine learning models react to the successive increase of negotiation data. information in different data combinations is used for the evaluation of classification techniques to simulate the progress in negotiation processes and to investigate the impact of utility and communication data. It will be shown that the more information the merrier does not always hold. Instead, data-driven ML model recommendations are presented as to when and based on which data density certain models should or should not use for the analysis of electronic negotiations.

A recommender system may recommend certain items that the users would not prefer. This can be caused by either the imperfection of the recommender system or the change of user preferences. When those failed recommendations appear often in the system, the users may consider that the recommender system is not able to capture the user preference. This can result in abandoning to further use the recommender system. However, given the possible failed recommendations, most recommender systems will ignore the non-preferred recommendations. Therefore, this paper proposes failure recovery solution for recommender systems with an adaptive filter. On the one hand, the proposed solution can deal with the failed recommendations while keeping the user engagement. Additionally, it allows the recommender system to dynamically fine tune the preferred items and become a long-term application. Also, the adaptive filter can avoid the cost of constantly updating the recommender learning model.

In light of the growing prevalence of online channels, e-commerce platforms have increasingly collaborated with suppliers or rural cooperatives to open self-operated stores, with the aim of maximizing profits. However, given the regional variation in supply chain dynamics, suppliers and rural cooperatives may not always occupy the same position in the supply chain, leading to simultaneous challenges of channel conflicts and power imbalances. About the channel intrusions by e-commerce platforms, this study introduces one fresh-product supply chain of one producer, one provider and one B2C e-commerce platform and studies the optimal strategy for enterprises in the fresh-product pricing and channel selection with a theoretical model construction. Results from the study show that e-commerce platforms in any model will support the weaker side in the supply chain for much more profits. At the same time, rural cooperatives and suppliers will actively cooperate with e-commerce platforms' opening self-run stores. The theoretical value of this study lies in its insights into the optimal strategies for supply chain enterprises in the face of e-commerce platform intrusion and power-structure competition. The practical value of the research lies in its provision of guidance for e-commerce platforms to support the weaker party in the supply chain and to actively cooperate with rural cooperatives in launching self-run stores. However, further research is needed to explore optimal strategies for enterprises under different power structures and information asymmetry.
