Ensuring the quality of software design is usually a difficult task. In the blockchain field, the design of an application is particularly important as flaws can lead to critical vulnerabilities and cost overheads. To assist practitioners in this task, software patterns can be used (solutions to repeatable problems in a given context). Some blockchain patterns exist but they are scattered, and described in many different notations and templates. As a result, practitioners can be lost in the selection of adequate blockchain-based patterns. This paper fills the gap by proposing a blockchain-based software pattern ontology. The ontology is composed of two distinct subspaces: first, a set of classes and individuals related to blockchain-based patterns, based on a previous Systematic Literature Review (SLR). It notably reuses a taxonomy of blockchain design patterns, that helps to classify these patterns in relevant categories. Along that, another subspace has been created to further organize the knowledge related to software patterns and allow inferences. A tool is proposed along with the ontology to assist practitioners in finding blockchain-based patterns that fit their needs. An evaluation is performed to assess the usability and the relevancy of the ontology.

Negotiation are essential in every day's life, increasingly via electronic media. Due to a huge amount of negotiation styles, strategies, and tactics presented in the literature, it is unclear which combinations of strategies and tactics for a concrete style can be applied in (electronic) negotiations. Therefore, we conducted a systematic literature review identifying combinations of negotiation styles, strategies, and tactics in electronic negotiations. The findings were consolidated into a taxonomy and patterns of the combinations were generated.

Conceptual modeling is traditionally regarded to be a static picture of the RealWorld. This opinion is also manifested in UML, where the class instance is defined as a "snapshot" of the modeled domain object. In this paper, we argue for the idea that causality, as a regular part of the modal logic should be also regarded as a part of the Real World conceptual model. In the paper, we describe the use of the life cycle model for the extension of a traditional conceptual model that allows us to enrich the traditional conceptual modeling with the Real World causality model. We also introduce the methodology for modeling business systems MMABP, which is a methodical basis for the proposed combination of Class Diagram and State Chart, and describe its principles, and rules for this combination. The importance and effects of the use of the State Chart as a complement to the Class Diagram are then illustrated by an example. By this example, the basic related problems and specifics of this way of expressing the causal Real World logic are also discussed. In the Conclusions section we then summarize the importance and position of the life cycle model in MMABP and shortly discuss its general methodical contribution to the conceptual modeling.

With the widespread fusion of social media and knowledge economy, paid Q&A platform has become one of the most prominent ways for people to seek knowledge online. More and more users enroll as answerers to answer questions for gaining extra money, so it is necessary for them to find out ways to attract more askers in this competitive market. When investigating influential factors on the ask intention, most previous research focuses on the objective data displayed on answerers' accounts such as number of followers and price per question, while largely ignores the information that was voluntarily disclosed by answerers. In this regard, we draw from impression management theory to explore the role of answerers' self-image which is built through active information disclosure in this Q&A process. We constructed a cross-sectional dataset with 9,887 answerers on Weibo Q&A platform to test hypotheses. Using zero-inflated negative binomial model, we find that the congruence between answerers' self-image and their provided knowledge has a significant positive impact on knowledge seekers' ask intention. Particularly, the larger the congruence between those actively disclosed text information (i.e., biography) and picture information (i.e., avatar) and provided knowledge, the higher the askers' willingness to ask questions. Managerial implications on paid Q&A platforms are thus provided.

In light of the reality that supply chain finance is plagued by credit risk, this study constructs a tripartite evolutionary game model involving financial institution, small and medium-sized enterprise (SME), and core enterprise to analyze the credit risk in the case of accounts receivable factoring. The micro-mechanism of how blockchain mitigates the credit risk of supply chain finance is analyzed by comparing the changes in the system's evolutionary stability strategy before and after the introduction of blockchain. Numerical simulation is also conducted to verify the system's evolutionary stability strategy. The results reveal that whether the traditional supply chain finance business produces credit risk depends on the amount of accounts receivable, the income obtained by SME and core enterprise when maintaining the stability of the supply chain, and the default income and default cost of both. After the introduction of blockchain, a strict regulatory environment increases the default cost of enterprises in the supply chain. Therefore, the system strictly converges to the Pareto-optimal solution of financial institution accepting financing applications, core enterprise repayment, and SME compliance. In addition, the decrease in the amount of accounts receivable held by a single SME can accelerate the convergence of the tripartite evolutionary game to equilibrium after the introduction of blockchain. Thus, blockchain can effectively mitigate the credit risk that financial institutions face while conducting supply chain finance business. Our research provides theoretical support for optimizing credit risk management in supply chain finance using blockchain.

Change to business information systems, like enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, is inevitable. The problem is that the processes degrading these highly complicated systems during their life cycle are poorly understood. To that end, we present an approach that operates as a degradation lens to view technical change data collected from ERP systems. We reconstruct a customization change stream from available log data and investigate structural degradation effects on one designated ERP system codebase in a system landscape. Our results indicate that, contrary to commonly held belief, changes do not maintain the customization in an initial architectural component but tend to evolve across several functionality clusters to evade degradation. Our data suggest that release-driven, complete redesigns of customized parts of ERP systems take place.

This dissertation explores the methodology for building intelligent manufacturing factories in medium and small-sized enterprises. Synergising HeXie management theory with a program management approach increases the industry 4.0 project success rate. Eventually, help those SMEs to achieve their strategic goals as a practical contribution. Also, the article optimises HeXie management theory from a conception to an applicable implementation model for Industry 4.0 projects. Since Germany proposed the concept of Industry 4.0, there has been research in academia and industry to explore the technology of Industry 4.0 and the improved competitiveness of enterprises. Some articles explain that SMEs will have more challenges in transitioning to Industry 4.0 than large ones. The HXMT management theory generated for the CCAU (complexity, change, ambiguity, and uncertainty) environment could be suitable for integrating the oriental and occidental wisdom through coupling various project and program management methods. This article will use a Chinese semiconductor company's business case to validate the HXMT theme's effectiveness. Project management skills are a critical sub-factor of HeXie coupling to affect project management success significantly. Moreover, sustainability is a vital He-principal factor which impacts project success. This article is an exploratory dissertation validating that the HeXie management model improves the success rate of Industry 4.0 projects by integrating technology elements and non-technology enablers, especially in Chinese SMEs.

Computer Science curricula usually develop software modeling, design, and implementation skills involving standard languages, best practices, and different languages and architectures. However, they do not often involve the specific modeling, design, and implementation of business processes (BPs) using business Process Management Systems, which require making BPs explicit (e.g., specified in BPMN 2.0) and driving the system development and execution by such models. A specific theoretical, conceptual, and technological background is needed in this context. This paper presents a project-based, hands-on approach to modeling and developing process-driven systems, which we integrated into our Computer Science curricula. We present the experience and highlight lessons learned about essential elements for students learning.

The analysis of large event log collections aimed at variability management requires an intensive pre-processing phase. It is intuitive that obsolete behaviour that could be present in the logs must be removed in order to gain insight into the collection. Changes in the information system may indeed generate obsolete behaviour, more specifically, in the case of public administration, changes in the law may imply a change in the process, which must be updated in the information system. The logs containing the updated behaviour can then be used in variability management practices, such as the creation of configurable models. This type of analysis has numerous criticalities, one of which is the difficulty of obtaining an effective representation of the process, without running into excessive complexity of the model produced. Obsolete behavior results in an unnecessary increase in complexity and should therefore be removed. This paper introduces an event log analysis and visualisation technique based on the notion of complexity introduced by Lempel Ziv. The visualization enables process analysts to identify concept drift in the logs, thereby facilitating the removal of outdated behavior. Furthermore, when equilibrium is achieved, it indicates that the behavior is representative of the entire log. Consequently, during variability analysis, it becomes possible to prune the log, reducing computational complexity.

One way of improving the efficiency of system development is through the adoption of new methods. These, upon adoption, can provide the development team with the capabilities to address the current challenges. Once a team decides to follow this path, selecting which methods to adopt is a task ahead. The state-of-the-art provides a plethora of options. The criteria should be choosing methods yielding the highest net benefit towards the adoption goal. Many criteria influence the assessment of methods' value. Knowing which ones are relevant and how they are related is essential to complete this task with excellence. In this paper, we propose a conceptual model describing elements of the decision-making process when selecting software engineering methods to be adopted by development teams. We aim to make explicit much of the knowledge involved in this process, i.e., mechanisms and influencing factors, to foster proper value assessment of methods. For researchers, our work can serve as guidelines to describe methods, for the industry, the model allows the comparison of assessment methods and better-motivated business plans.
