Technologies play an essential role in local government's business operation internally, cross-organisation and their interaction with other stakeholders. Although such digital adoption creates sustainability which is an absolute crucial attachment for public services' initiatives, but technologies and innovation adoption within local governments, faces challenges and barriers. This paper identified the number of factors which local governments involve with when they adopt innovation, through adopting the most related framework and then by running a qualitative approach through several case studies across European municipalities, learns the challenges from those local governments. Analysing the result of the data collection through previous studies, helped this paper to match the lesson learnt from the municipalities with other experiences and practices highlighted by academics in the past to illustrate a rigorous comparison and legitimise the empirical analysis. Further study and suggestions are also given, required more focus and developing the concept by future researchers.

In order to understand the retention of front-line employees in the process of digital technology change and innovation, this study uses the information system continuation theory and job demand-resource theory to build a framework, and conducts a cross-sectional survey of the post-use stage of digital technology. The focus is on the relationship between digital technology quality factors and continued trust, distrust, job engagement, job burnout and retention intentions. The results showed that continued trust in digital technology was the strongest predictor of retention intention. Job burnout and distrust were not important to retention intentions. The results also show that the quality factor of digital technology is an important antecedent of continued trust and distrust.

A recent research manifesto has introduced the vision of AI-Augmented BPM (ABPM), where BPM systems are infused with AI to continuously adapt and improve a set of business processes with respect to one or more performance indicators. In the ABPM lifecycle, process modelling is lifted to the more general notion of process framing, which aims at capturing the boundaries within which the executions of one or more processes of interest should be confined. In this paper, I argue in favour of constraint-based declarative process specifications for process framing. I provide a list of key features that are needed towards this goal, and show how they are matched by research milestones recently obtained in this setting. In particular, I discuss how to deal with deviations, uncertainty, and object-centric processes.

This paper presents the EAKG Toolkit that entails a new Knowledge Graph-based representation of enterprise architecture (EA) models and further enables reasoning on EA knowledge. Our developed EAKG Toolkit is unique in the sense that it i) transforms ArchiMate models into a KG representation - the Enterprise Architecture Knowledge Graph (EAKG), ii) visualizes the EAKG for interactive exploration, and iii) extends the EAKG with additional nodes and edges to visually represent detected EA smells.

Recently, the idea of applying process data analysis over relational databases (DBs) has been investigated in the process mining field resulting into different DB schemas that can be used to effectively store process data coming from Process-Aware information Systems (PAISs). However, although SQL queries are particularly suitable to check declarative rules over traces stored in a DB, a deep analysis of how the existing instruments for SQL-based process mining can be effectively used for process analysis tasks based on declarative process modeling languages is still missing. In this paper, we present a full-fledged framework based on SQL queries over relational DBs for different declarative process mining use cases, i.e., process discovery, conformance checking, and query checking. The framework is used to benchmark different SQL-based solutions for declarative process mining, using synthetic and real-life event logs, with the aim of exploring their strengths and weaknesses.

The study aims to propose a decision-aiding protocol for selecting the best cultural tourism product for a commune to promote its post-industrial heritage. It is a peculiar decision-making problem in which the alternatives have a composite character, i.e., they consist of many simple products that may present additional value combined. The decision-maker uses the opinion of many potential stakeholders regarding the alternatives evaluation, and these stakeholders may differ in their cognitive capabilities. Given the above, we propose an approach that produces a compromise recommendation regarding which product to choose under different preferences declared by the subsequent stakeholders. The problem is structured first, which involves defining a set of composite alternatives by an expert team and discussing them in a series of workshops with the stakeholders. They may also define additional evaluation criteria based on the predefined set of common goals. In the next step, the information processing styles of stakeholders are identified to suggest the multiple criteria decision aiding technique that best fits each stakeholder's cognitive capability. Finally, stakeholders' preferences are standardized to make them comparable on a common scale and aggregated using the adopted model of minimum cost consensus. We show how some elements of this approach work in a real-world problem of promoting the post-industrial heritage of the southern Polish commune Czeladz.

The study aims to understand how the various attributes of restaurant affect its customer satisfaction. Different with prior literature with heavy reliance on self-reported data, we investigated 17 representative restaurant attributes extracted from online reviews, modeled the relationship between restaurant attributes and customer satisfaction leveraging neural network, and classified the attributes into five categories based on kano model. The findings show that, among the 17 attributes, waiter's attitude and taste of food are most important for a high customer satisfaction. This study could help restaurant allocate its resources with greater efficiency and improve customer satisfaction.

Extracting value from open (government) data has been in the limelight for quite some time now, with the Open Government Data (OGD)-also referred to as the Public Sector information (PSI)- Directive, emphasizing the need for discovery of potential related to PSI and the re-use of data. This study provides insight on high-value datasets (HVD), i.e., the OGD matching the rigorous quality standards in terms of particularly the completeness, timeliness, and machine-processability, in the European Data Portal (EDP) in order to measure various aspects of the datasets, which will help obtain further insights on the current availability status, potential interoperability possibilities, drivers and barriers. The rationale behind this approach is to identify HVD in line with the thematic categories of the PSI Directive and to put a focus on the EDP HVD across three dimensions, viz., data publishing, availability, and technical requirements which need to be met. Findings attest the need for provisioning qualitatively robust HVDs with requisite technical specifications for facilitating value derivation by the range of stake-holders. Apart from contributing towards the HVD and OGD literature, the study lends insights across the availability-value generation focus via the EDP, thereby providing policy implications and further research pointers along these lines.

Interactions among employees promote spread of infectious diseases at workplaces. Enterprise architecture provides rich information about organizational structure and its relations to other elements in an enterprise. This paper develops a workplace topology model as a sub-set of enterprise architecture to analyze both static and dynamic interactions among the employees and to monitor and to limit spread of infectious diseases. The model is developed as a multi-layer graph combining organizational, facility and sensing layers. The graph analytical methods are elaborated to analyze the interactions. The analysis provides inputs to spread of infectious diseases risk assessment models. The application of the graph analytics methods is demonstrated using an example from an information Technology consulting company producing both software and hardware products.

Process training is an important activity in the business process management lifecycle, when the organizational actors must be taught in how to perform existing or redesigned work processes. Process training is a continuous activity performed whenever processes are significantly changed, innovations are introduced or new professionals are integrated to the organization. Due to their motivational nature, games have been seen as alternatives to support process training in organizations. However, the approaches to design games for ludifying process trainining in organizations, presented in the literature, are incipient in methods and results. This research proposes the development of a particular type of games, defined as business-Process-Based Digital Games (BPBDG), and its potential application in process training.
