Process mining allows organizations to obtain relevant insights into the execution of their processes. However, the starting point of any process mining analysis is an event log, which is typically not readily available in practice. The extraction of event logs from the relevant databases is a manual and highly time-consuming task, and often a hurdle for the application of process mining altogether. Available support for event log extraction comes with different assumptions and requirements and only provides limited automated support. In this paper, we therefore take a novel angle at supporting event log extraction. The core idea of our paper is to use an existing process model as a starting point and automatically identify to which database tables the activities of the considered process model relate to. Based on the resulting mapping, an event log can then be extracted in an automated fashion. We use this paper to define a first approach that is able to identify such a mapping between a process model and a database. We evaluate our approach using three real-world databases and five process models from the purchase-to-pay domain. The results of our evaluation show that our approach has the potential to successfully support event log extraction based on matching.

A fundamental element of participatory group decision processes is acknowledging the desires and concerns of the participating stakeholders. That involves reaching out to stakeholders and asking them to provide input, whereby their desires and concerns can be addressed in the decision process. In this paper, we elaborate on a case of a participatory decision process intending to form a municipal growth strategy in northern Sweden, where an increased understanding of stakeholder values was at the forefront of the project. We present the concept of value driver as a means for interpreting and structuring stakeholder value input in participatory processes for decision-makers to gain an increased understanding of the stakeholders' desires and concerns. In particular, we discuss the aggregation of such value drivers when reaching out to a large set of stakeholders via surveys and how such an approach can inform a participatory decision analysis process. The aim is to provide a conceptual representation of stakeholder values that can inform participatory decision processes seeking compromise solutions, such as how municipal resources should be allocated effectively based on what residents and business representatives find important for living, working, and running businesses in a municipality.

This paper discusses a unique assessment approach that is implemented in the business Process Management (BPM) course for Masters' students at the University of South Australia. The Active Learning and Assessment for Learning (AfL) principles are incorporated into this course to prepare industry-ready business analysts who will play an important role in the future business environment. We provide a detailed description of the design decisions, the implementation and resulting benefits of three major assignments in the course. The assessment is designed according to guiding principles that include 1) a focus on developing real-world skills for the future digital business environment, 2) following a process-oriented approach in both teaching and assessment, 3) motivating students to challenge assumptions and status quo by asking 'why' and 4) encouraging continuous self-reflection and a willingness to receive and provide constructive feedback. These guiding principles can be leveraged by other educators in the BPM community to design and implement an effective assessment structure for developing future-focused and industry-ready business analysts.

The significance of enterprise architecture (EA) in strategic renewal, such as digital transformations, is evident and widely accepted. Firms rely on EA to support strategic renewal, especially digital technology-driven strategic renewal. EA artifacts are used to document and communicate decisions and facts about the EA's current, future, and transition states. They facilitate bridging the communication gap and alignment between business and IT stakeholders. However, despite extant research in the area of EA, its role in strategic renewal, and its contribution to improving organizational performance, EA artifacts' contribution mechanism is still unknown. Therefore, this research explores how EA artifact creation and use facilitate strategic renewal, such as digital transformations. Based on 29 interviews at 4 case firms, we found 17 different EA artifacts and 16 ways EA contributes to strategic renewal, i.e., 16 EA values. Moreover, we determined the interrelatedness of EA values and a model of how EA artifacts contribute to strategic renewal and improved organizational performance. The EA artifact value contribution mechanism described in this study is simple and universal and, thus, has significant implications for both practice and research.

While government microblogs show increasing significance as a bridge connecting the government and the people, its role has become more prominent during the covid-19 outbreak, when the government released all kinds of official information in a timely manner and obtained public participation and feedback. Two important aspects to measure online participation are likes and comments, and the content topic of posts is an important influencing factor in online engagement studies. However, except for a few case studies, few researches have been conducted to provide an objective insight into the content topics of government blogs based on amass data in the context of the epidemic, and subsequently studies the impact of content topics on engagements. This paper analyzes the overall release pattern of government microblogs during pandemic in China by extracting 9 topics through LDA model based-on datasets from Sina Weibo. With a 5W-framework, we empirically confirm the relationship between content topics and public engagement with negative binomial analysis beyond the limitations of previous studies focusing only on some local factors. The results show that in general government releases focus mainly on the topics of epidemic science and uplifting spirits. However, information about police and public interaction and important instructions receives more discussion and likes, while news about treatment progress and praise of uplifting spirits receive little attention. Contributions to the literature and practice are discussed.

Asylum management is rife with questions surrounding social justice. The use of information systems in this context is often complex and fosters social injustices instead of promoting social justice. The reason for this complexity may be the result of conflicting conceptualizations of social justice. By conducting an inductive and embedded single-case study of one blockchain systems for asylum management, we find that such conflicts can occur across and within the individual, group, and supra-group levels, and result in tensions. These tensions can be addressed through the implementation of information systems in four ways: reinforcement, stabilization, mediation, and resolution. This dynamic negotiation through information systems may prevent thematerialization of one specific social justice conceptualization and distributes the quest for social justice across multiple levels.

Data utilization, which offers several benefits in real-world contexts, has caught the attention of several researchers and organizations. However, obtaining high-quality data is difficult. Moreover, it usually requires a large amount of compensation when the data are intended for private use. Recently, the development and refinement of methods to incentivize people to provide useful data, called mechanisms, has received special attention, consequently increasing demand for more efficient models. This study was conducted to propose amechanism, "Weighted Reward Allocation Mechanism (WRAM)", for promoting high-quality data supplied by rational data submitters considering budget constraints. The mechanism calculates and distributes the total budget in accordance with a weighted contribution evaluation vector of each item in a questionnaire. After mathematical details of WRAM are introduced, a simulation experiment is presented by which the data quality is compared with that of a widely used uniform reward mechanism. Results demonstrated that the submitter behavior changes depending on WRAM weights. Overall, our proposed mechanism performs better than the uniform reward mechanism in terms of the quality of the collected data.

Over recent years, we witnessed an astonishing growth in production and consumption of Linked Data (LD), which contains valuable information to support decision-making processes in various application domains. In this context, data visualization plays a decisive role in making sense of the large volumes of data created every day and in effectively communicating structures, processes, and trends in data in an accessible way. In this paper, we present LDViz, a visualization tool designed to support the exploration of knowledge graphs via multiple perspectives: (i) RDF graph/vocabulary inspection, (ii) RDF summarization, and (iii) exploratory search. We demonstrate the usage and feasibility of our approach through a set of use case scenarios showing how users can perform searches through SPARQL queries and explore multiple perspectives of the resulting data through multiple complementary visualization techniques. We also demonstrate the reach and generic aspects of our tool through an evaluation that tests the support of 419 different SPARQL endpoints.

The rapid advances in technology and COVID-19 lockdown measures transformed the way of working and paved the way for the rise of digital platform work. Although potentially expanding employment opportunities and introducing many beneficial aspects, digital platform work is also associated with exposure to stress due to various factors. Technostress is one such area of concern for platform workers. This preliminary study focuses on a single technostressor, techno-invasion, which refers to the perceived intrusion of technology into personal life, and investigates the impact of techno-invasion on the work-life balance of digital platform workers. Testing six hypotheses, the research surveyed 30 Amazon MTurk workers to measure techno-invasion and work-life balance. The results reveal a significant positive linear relationship between techno-invasion and work interference with personal life, indicating that greater perceived intrusion of technology leads to lower work-life balance. Additionally, female workers experience higher levels of techno-invasion compared to their male counterparts, potentially due to additional caregiving responsibilities. Acknowledging limitations due to the small sample size drawn solely from Amazon MTurk, the preliminary study suggests that digital platforms should implement measures to reduce techno-invasion, such as offering training and support to enhance workers' digital literacy as well as actively seeking feedback from platform workers.

The production of self-executing computational agreements in the form of smart contracts remains a manual coding endeavour that hinders the widespread adoption of solutions that run on top of a distributed ledger technology such as blockchain. We explore the automatic generation of smart contracts based on a visual composition of reusable action rule specifications and other elements from the action model of the DEMO methodology. Several design and implementation considerations entail this choice of SC generation, all of which motivated a smart contract-enabled extension of DEMO's way of modelling. The main research contribution is a foundation of synergistic knowledge accompanied by an extension proposal involving DEMO and smart contracts that can be built upon in future business cases where enterprise interoperability supported by blockchain technology is a requirement.
