In this paper, we explore the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on the Metaverse virtual economy, seeking to improve the understanding of this interesting area. The utilization of AI in the Metaverse reveals potential in many segments, including the virtual economy. The economy in a Metaverse environment offers even more opportunities to consumers and industries than the traditional Internet economy. At the same time the Metaverse virtual economy differs from the traditional online economy. In this paper we identify the similarities and differences of these two types of economy. We also conduct a systematic literature review and identify a gap that requires further research to be undertaken.

This paper presents a novel approach to enhancing user experience (UX) in automated environments through Aspect-Based Sentiment Analysis (ABSA), a subfield of Natural Language processing (NLP). With advanced AI technologies, ABSA analyzes text for general sentiment and extracts and evaluates sentiments tied to specific aspects or features discussed in the text. Our research aims to evaluate the effectiveness of ABSA as a tool for informed UX decision-making in design processes. In this collaborative effort, we compiled a dataset of 8,060 tweets from 2016 to 2023 using keywords related to automation and smart workplaces. After rigorous pre-processing, we utilized structured tweets for aspect extraction. Six different pre-trained or finetuned ABSA models were employed to analyze these tweets, focusing on their utility in refining UX. Our findings highlight how ABSA can be leveraged to enhance user interactions. We propose a set of strategic recommendations to help researchers and decision-makers identify strengths and weaknesses in their automated systems. Ultimately, we present an organizational life cycle model that utilizes sentiment classification to refine UX strategies, facilitating better AI integration in user-centric designs.

Open data can lead to more efficient and effective decision-making processes in both the public and private sectors. By making data available, users can better analyse trends, identify inefficiencies, and optimize resource allocation. Consequently, open data assessment plays a crucial role in ensuring the quality, integrity, accessibility, and impact of open data initiatives. It supports informed decision-making, promotes data-driven innovation, and enhances trust and accountability in data ecosystems. This paper applies the method of systematic review for identifying, extracting and analysing the principal methodologies for open data assessment. The most mature proposals have been selected and compared by using a formal framework, extracting the key requirements that an integrated and unified open data assessment framework should have, and providing the first steps towards its definition. Four methodologies were identified from a systematic review of literature. The comparison results critically identify and synthesize the research in open data assessment area. The paper concludes with suggestions on how to improve assessment practice and recommendations for future research.

This short paper introduces our ongoing research on the value conversion contingencies of process mining. We believe that this novel perspective on process mining business value complements the existing literature, which is mostly focused on critical success factors and affordances of process mining. We delineate the theoretical background of our proposed framework and briefly discuss the methods that we have chosen to achieve our intended goals.

IoT networks in, for example, smart manufacturing, smart homes, and smart health demand process mining beyond traditional event logs. However, conventional process discovery and conformance checking algorithms expect data to be collected at a central location for mining. As a result, they struggle to handle the vast amounts of data generated by IoT networks, which often leads to privacy concerns. To address these challenges, this paper introduces Distributed Conformance Checking (DisCC). DisCC leverages a footprint-fitness method to perform distributed online conformance checks directly at the data source where an event is sensed, ensuring scalable conformance checking and enabling privacy by only sharing aggregated event data with a central entity. Our evaluation of DisCC demonstrates its effectiveness in accurately performing conformance checks at the event, trace, and log levels. We experimentally show the correctness of DisCC and how quickly its interim results converge to the correct fitness value. The system supports real-time alerts for non-conforming events and traces, detects concept drifts and temporary fitness losses through a sliding window implementation, and offers a scalable, privacy-enabling solution for process monitoring in IoT networks.

Nowadays, machinery is getting much more complex and equipped with various sensors providing data about actual process execution. One of the directions of machinery data usage is activity recognition, which can be used in process modeling and analysis, enabling process improvements. We aimed to summarize machinery activity recognition (MAR) implementations in the industry. We formulated four research questions concerning MAR applications in the industrial domains, data sources, analytic approaches, and techniques. We carried out a Systematic Literature Review based on renowned publication databases. We started with 812 papers from Scopus and ISI Web of Science, and after detailed analysis, we finally ended with 29 papers used for data extraction. We discovered that the MAR is a relatively common data-oriented task in the construction industry and can also be noticed in other domains like mining, logistics, and medicine, proving that this kind of analytics has wide applications. Due to the nature of MAR, many papers present a supervised approach with various classifiers, among them, one can find neural networks as the most popular and effective techniques.

Open source (OS) foundations are non-profit organizations that support open-source software development projects. OS foundations can be categorized based on their membership and governance structures. This study focuses on vendor-led and user-led OS foundations operating in the healthcare sector. The study has two objectives. The first objective is to explore the similarities and differences of vendor-led and user-led OS foundations. The second objective is to explore and define governance practices applied in these foundations to achieve success. To address these objectives, we performed multiple-case study research, with the openEHR Foundation and the RACOON consortium as our cases. We performed interviews with key stakeholders and applied thematic analysis to derive the results. We present differences and similarities of these foundations with respect to membership and organizational structure. We also present members' motivation to engage with these foundations. Furthermore, we identify and explain 32 governance practices applied in nine contexts related to OS foundations in the healthcare sector.

Emergency events, such as out-of-hospital cardiac arrest, are China's leading causes of mortality. However, witnesses of emergencies are seldom trained with first-aid measures before emergency events happens. Relative to traditional offline first-aid training methods, social media greatly enhanced audiences' interest in first-aid learning in a more entertaining, time-saving, and labor-saving way. Based on Construal Level Theory (CLT), this study aims to understand the impact of external emergencies (past emergencies experience) on individual internal change (psychological distances) and subsequently generate first-aid learning intention through using social media. As emergencies are severe but not widespread, this study only examines social and spatial dimensions of psychological distance (PD) to broaden the application scenarios of CLT. At the same time, we apply prosociality to measure the individual difference. This study conducts a survey in a first-aid popularization account on Sina Weibo. 348 participants, who had never learned first-aid knowledge and skills before, engaged. Results prove that both PDs and prosociality may be impacted by external emergency experiences, then promote related learning intention. This study also finds that prosociality moderates the relationship between spatial distance and related learning intention. This study roots in an emergency context and broadens the application of CLT in first-aid learning. At the same time, since first-aid training is usually hard to grasp and residents usually do not need complex skills to rescue people in emergency events, we applied social media as our learning context in this study to lower the threshold of first-aid education.

Process mining event logs are traditionally formatted to reflect the execution of a collection of individual process instances, with a fixed case notion. In practice, process instances are often intertwined, and the scope of a particular process is less static. When flattening complex application data to traditional event log formats, like XES, problems such as divergence and convergence occur in the resulting event logs. Object-centric process mining with its object-centric event log (OCEL) format were introduced to tackle these issues, supporting multiple case notions with a single event log. While the adoption of object-centric logging is starting to gain momentum in several domains, the use of OCEL for event logs of blockchain applications has seen little research. In this paper, we investigate blockchain data structures and map them to OCEL logging capabilities. We present an approach to extracting data from blockchain applications that requires little domain knowledge. We discuss how to map data items to fit object-centric event logs and provide and analyze a corresponding OCEL event log for a blockchain application. The approach is evaluated based on a use case and contrasted to a previous case study.

This paper explores the emergence of agile-inspired approaches in the critical infrastructure sector, with a focus on the current digital transformation of the Norwegian Oil & Gas industry. It addresses how traditional plan-driven development and strict architectural principles are challenged by the need to exploit the growing volume of operational data, in search for better, faster, and safer operations. We emphasize the increasing reliance on data for optimizing operations and the inherent risks and culture clashes between information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT). We furthermore discuss the role of cybersecurity in this transition, illustrating how increased connectivity and agile-like approaches can both mitigate and exacerbate security vulnerabilities.
