In recent years, intrusion detection has become an important topic in data analytics for network protection and security measures. This paper presents a new diagnostic method for data recorded over a working computer network that can be used in information security applications such as intrusion detection and prevention. The recommended technique uses a generalised representation of correlation data (time delay and frequency delay), the Ambiguity Function. This technique has been evaluated, documented and presented through various tests of the recorded features of the network using the UNSW-NB15 dataset. The efficiency and robustness of the proposed method was experimentally demonstrated.

Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) improves the collaboration between developers and stakeholders following agile software development practices. Acceptance Test-Driven Development (ATDD) is an extension of BDD where requirements are accompanied by automated acceptance tests, translating functional acceptance criteria linked to requirements. While BDD and ATDD have been successfully applied in industry, few universities report on teaching BDD and ATDD principles as part of their curriculum. However, there is a need for education providers to teach industry-relevant practices so that junior developers' skills are better aligned to industry's expectations. Therefore, we report on how BDD and ATDD techniques have been taught in a two-semester software engineering project, including (i) the lack of observed evidence on the implications of applying BDD and ATDD on the functional suitability of software products, (ii) the lack of engagement with BDD and ATDD from students, and (ii) recommendations to educators to improve students' engagement with these practices.

Managing energy overproduction in renewable energy installations is a significant challenge, particularly in avoiding inverter shutdowns due to excessive grid voltage. This paper investigates three approaches to automating energy consumption using smart plugs, aiming to reduce inverter shutdowns and increase the amount of energy fed into the grid. The first approach employs standard factory plugs, the second involves user-calibrated plugs, and the third utilizes plugs managed by a home automation server. The study aims to compare the effectiveness of these three solutions in lowering average grid voltage, reducing inverter shutdowns, and minimizing unnecessary energy consumption. Data from real PV installations were analyzed under various weather conditions and network loads. Results indicate that while standard factory plugs are easy to implement and costeffective, they are the least efficient in energy savings and preventing inverter shutdowns. Manually calibrated plugs offer better energy efficiency but require higher costs and programming skills. The best performance was achieved with servermanaged plugs, which, despite higher costs, provide the most efficient energy management and minimize inverter shutdowns. The results contribute to both theory and practice by providing insights into the cost-benefit analysis of different self-consumption strategies and their practical implications for grid management.

Self-organizing teams are a common way of organizing teamwork in sectors related to modern technologies, especially in programming teams. Agile methods often promote and advocate such teams. One of the problems in this form of team organization is the issue of leadership, and particularly the relationship between vertical leadership - one person, and horizontal leadership - team members. In the literature on the subject, we can find traces of many concepts in such a broad area as the issue of leadership. However, several selected concepts allow us to capture an emerging feature in self-organizing teams which is the taking over of leadership functions by team members. Shared leadership, where the leadership function comes from team members, not from one appointed leader. Distributed leadership is where leadership in the organization is taken over voluntarily by individuals. Balanced leadership, where the vertical leader enables team members to take over leadership functions depending on the situation. The selected concepts presented here allow for a better understanding and research of the nature and phenomenon of leadership in self-organizing teams.

In this paper, we argue the importance of studying tabletop game mechanics in computer game design courses. To this end, we primarily detail and analyze several common mechanics from tabletop games that are quite commonly found in well-known videogames. Secondarily, we also discuss how using clear and concise mechanics, like these found in tabletop games, can allow to balance game economies and randomness in games and use artificial intelligence agents to balance game flow and game design in general.

This paper presents a novel approach to enhancing user experience (UX) in automated environments through Aspect-Based Sentiment Analysis (ABSA), a subfield of Natural Language processing (NLP). With advanced AI technologies, ABSA analyzes text for general sentiment and extracts and evaluates sentiments tied to specific aspects or features discussed in the text. Our research aims to evaluate the effectiveness of ABSA as a tool for informed UX decision-making in design processes. In this collaborative effort, we compiled a dataset of 8,060 tweets from 2016 to 2023 using keywords related to automation and smart workplaces. After rigorous pre-processing, we utilized structured tweets for aspect extraction. Six different pre-trained or finetuned ABSA models were employed to analyze these tweets, focusing on their utility in refining UX. Our findings highlight how ABSA can be leveraged to enhance user interactions. We propose a set of strategic recommendations to help researchers and decision-makers identify strengths and weaknesses in their automated systems. Ultimately, we present an organizational life cycle model that utilizes sentiment classification to refine UX strategies, facilitating better AI integration in user-centric designs.

Blockchain technology (BC) is rapidly evolving, leading to the transformation and disruption of various sectors. There is a noticeable lack of research about the Middle East and Turkey (MET) region's blockchain adoption, despite the growing interest in BC worldwide. This paper aims to study the enablers and barriers of BC adoption in the financial sector of the MET region through the lens of the Technology Organization Environment (TOE) theory, where technology adoption is influenced by technological characteristics, organizational context, and external environment. The article adheres to a qualitative methodology by conducting interviews with key people in the financial sector within the MET region to present our findings and discussion. The findings show the BC adoption's enablers and barriers based on the TOE theory three pillars. Moreover, three calls for future studies were recorded to investigate into BC role in sustainable finance and a necessity for legitimacy and more independency.

Above and beyond Amazon's Alexa and Apple's Siri, which are prevalent in the home, in offices gen AI apps are gaining traction. Compared to keyboard, mouse, or touch, we argue that especially managers would benefit from voice-first assistants as they provide information faster than click-by-click navigation and minimize cognitive effort. This article presents a voice-first assistant that supports managers in navigating as naturally as possible in management reports. We opted for Design Science Research in information Systems as our research approach and chose an energy utility as our reference company. Combining findings from the human-computer interaction (HCI) literature with lessons learned from a design cycle in practice, we provide an IS architecture and five takeaways to drive future discussions. (1) Our research is grounded in theory by extending the knowledge about task-technology fit (TTF) theory from HCI literature with the topical use case of management reports. (2) We use a rigorous method mix that entails a case study and interviews within and beyond the reference company so that they are balanced and more widely applicable. (3) For practice, our artifact should assist companies in assessing voice-first use cases for managers more balanced - outweighing human, task, and IT criteria.

Although large-scale agile software development increasingly is being organized in product areas, little research has to date looked into the skills needed for central roles to succeed with software product management (SPM) in a large-scale setting. Addressing this research gap, this paper provides insights into the skills and competencies deemed essential among Product Managers and Product Owners in ScanBank, a Scandinavian fintech organization counting over 10,000 employees. Our findings reveal that establishing and maintaining social networks are found to be paramount for successfully performing SPM-related tasks in a large-scale agile organizational context. We utilized a model for social capital consisting of three different dimensions to analyze our data material and highlight the value of social capabilities in enhancing collaboration and efficiency within large-scale agile SPM.

We present LD@Taiga, a learning dashboard seamlessly integrated into the Taiga agile project management tool. LD@Taiga provides visualizations of individual and team performance metrics, offering students valuable feedback and aiding their decision-making. A preliminary evaluation revealed enhanced usability compared to a previous version, although there is still room for improvement.
