The increasing adoption of IoT in the context of business Process Management (BPM) makes it necessary to efficiently coordinate concurrent processes and activities that involve physical resources. Traditional approaches to handling concurrency in BPM systems are not suitable for automating IoT-aware processes due to novel challenges raised by the IoT. We propose to handle concurrency in IoT based on object-centric processes implemented in the PHILharmonicFlows framework. The framework facilitates the data-driven modeling and coordination of object lifecycles and interactions, which are suitable to address concurrency in IoT-aware processes. The approach is demonstrated in a scenario from smart manufacturing. The results show that PHILharmonicFlows offers a flexible and comprehensible solution for coordinating concurrent activities in IoT settings with constrained physical resources.

Health-tech startups are essential, as they provide cutting-edge solutions to numerous healthcare concerns in the rapidly evolving healthcare industry. They use various technologies to create solutions that boost and advance healthcare systems and healthcare delivery. Open-source software (OSS) technology has become an essential component of startups' toolkits, providing various advantages, such as free access to source codes and opportunities for innovation. Research on OSS in healthcare startups is limited, so our study aims to investigate how healthtech startups perceive the influence of OSS on product development and to identify the challenges they face. To meet this objective, we conducted an empirical study with six health-tech startups, using semi-structured interviews. Thematic analysiswas performed on the collected data to identify common themes and subthemes related to the research objective. The findings showed that health-tech startups benefit from the cost efficiency, scalability, and customization of OSS. Open-source software tools, reshape development and promote efficient code management, provide community support, and reduce costs. However, they demand OSS knowledge, management of updates, regulatory compliance, and heightened cybersecurity. Our study adds to the body of knowledge on OSS and healthcare startups and the connection between them. We provide recommendations for health-tech startups, such as embracing OSS tools for their benefits, investing in education and training, and engaging with the OSS community for comprehensive support in their product development processes.

In this paper we present a tool for adaptive process log generation and analysis of the correlation between KPI (Key Performance Indicator) values and changes in adaptive processes. The tool features a component called Next(Log) helping users to generate initial business process logs using any preferred method and subsequently allows them to adapt these logs based on their own defined rules while ensuring an intuitive and coherent user interface. The adapted logs are then used for log analysis with the *** component, which employs machine learning techniques to find patterns of matching KPI values and adaptation injections in the logs. The tool therefore supports the research on the challenges imposed by the lack of sufficient amount of data from adaptive process logs and the open issues in identifying at what KPIs values changes are required and what kind of changes would have the best impact on the process performance at run time.

With the rapid development of information technology, it is now fast and convenient for consumers to get food service through the O2O catering platform. Based on stimulus-organism-response (SOR) theory, this study examines how external stimulus variables (the platform's recommendation mechanism and preferential policies, online evaluation, platform stores' monthly sales volumes, the platform's supervision mechanism, and contactless delivery) all affect consumers' intention to purchase through the O2O catering platform under the inner organism intermediary variables (perceived value and perceived risk). In this study, 424 sample questionnaires were collected and the data were analyzed by structural equation model. The results show that the platform's recommendation mechanism and preferential policies, the platform stores' monthly sales volumes, and the platform's supervision mechanism all positively affect consumers' perceived value, which in turn positively affects consumers' purchase intentions. Conversely, online evaluation, the platform stores' monthly sales volumes, the platform's supervision mechanism, and contactless delivery all negatively affect consumers' perceived risk. In addition, perceived risk negatively affects consumers' purchase intention. The findings have implications for the O2O catering platform to develop a suitable marketing strategy.

Financial institutions are subject to stringent regulatory reporting requirements tomanage operational risk in international financialmarkets. Producing accurate and timely reports has raised challenges in current data processes of big data heterogeneity, system interoperability and enterprise-wide management. Data quality management is a key concern, with current approaches being timeconsuming, expensive, and risky. This research proposes to design, develop, and evaluate a Financial Reporting Data Quality Framework that allows non-IT data consumers to contextualize data observations. The framework will use anomaly algorithms to detect and categorize observations as genuine business activities or data quality issues. To ensure sustainability and ongoing relevance, the framework will also embed an update mechanism.

We present a new approach for a Digital Twin of an Organization (DTO). Its focus is to better support weakly structured and knowledge-intensive business processes. Driving forces behind this development are the increasing demands for organizational agility, customer focus and information utilization. Existing business information systems show a number of shortcomings in this respect: Process-Aware information Systems (PAIS) either neglect agility (e.g., workflow management systems as tightly framed PAIS) or process representation (e.g., groupware as unframed PAIS). Customer RelationshipManagement (CRM) systems fall behind in customer data integration and analysis for customer journey support, and business Intelligence (BI) focuses too much on structured data. In contrast, a DTO is highly information-based, real-time enabled and visualization-oriented and thus better fits the requirements. However, organizations as complex socio-technical systems with open boundaries are challenging for digital twins. We have chosen a process-oriented representation for the virtual part of the DTO based on internal and external data. The increased availability of unstructured data, for example, from process contexts, supports process redesign during execution: this results in more process agility while maintaining a comprehensible process framing. An Insight Engine augmented with artificial intelligence processes the data. In a case study we present a DTO prototype for the service sector. More precisely, the DTO supports a marketing campaign from design to service execution associated to the respective customer journey, representing business process and customer journey in a joint representation.

Software ecosystems (SECO) affect requirements management when considering multiple actors (i.e., keystone, third-party developer, users) from different organizations using several communication channels such as issue trackers and forums. To deal with this scenario, professionals involved in requirements management in SECO have resorted to several open innovation (OI) practices. Our study aims to investigate OI practices applied to support requirements management in SECO. We conducted a field study based on interviews with 21 professionals involved in requirements management activities in SECO. We identified 10 OI practices to support requirements management in SECO and 14 communication channels to receive/provide requirements from/to external actors. OI practices identified in this study can help practitioners manage requirements in the SECO context in which they are engaged, making this process more informal, open, and collaborative.

Context: In Requirements Engineering, communication problems are ubiquitous. Many users and user organizations cannot fully understand the artefacts which developers produce (such as domain models, (conceptual) schemas, data models, class diagrams, (system) sequence diagrams, other UML diagrams, etc.). We try to solve challenges that customers and practitioners face when dealing with requirements that are not expressed in Natural Language (NL). Research questions: How could such artefacts be explained to and validated by the user organization in a systematic and user-understandable way? Main idea: Well, users are of course supposed to understand their own native natural language. So, you might try to translate those artefacts to their own natural language in a systematicway. But underwhich conditions andwhat are the general mechanisms behind this, both for static and for dynamic aspects? With a clear and complete set of construction rules or even a grammar for your artefacts, you can (try to) construct practical translations to the targetNL by systematically following those construction rules. This is independent of a particular development lifecycle within which the artefacts were produced. Contribution: In the paper, we make these general mechanisms behind such NL generation explicit and mention the conditions under which these ideas can be applied. We illustrate the applicability and feasibility of the general theory for Conceptual DataModels (statics-based), using construction rules, and for System Sequence Descriptions (dynamics-based), using syntax-directed translations. We also establish the (easy) readability of the results.

In the new era of the digital economy, traditional manufacturing firms are stepping up their digital transformation to remain competitive. Digital transformation might impact firm performance, resulting in a need to investigate the complex relationships between firm performance and various conditions in digital transformation. Based on resource orchestration theory (ROT), this study provided a configurational analysis of the multiple paths of organizational capability (i.e., innovation capability), organizational resources (i.e., relational resources and regional resources), and organizational characteristics (i.e., firm size and digital transformation strategy) to achieve high firm performance using a mix of fuzzy-set Qualitative Comparative Analysis (fsQCA) and Necessary Conditions Analysis (NCA) methodologies. Using data from listed companies in China's manufacturing industry, the findings identify six configurations that generate high firm performance, demonstrating the diversity in the mechanisms achieving high firm performance in Chinese-listed manufacturing firms, which can guide the implementation of digital transformation in the manufacturing industry.

This study explores the optimal delivery modes and the impact of fee transparency reform on online food delivery platforms. By building models and conducting comparative analysis, we examine the effects of consumer demand for real-time delivery tracking, price thresholds, and platform fee transparency on merchants and platforms. The findings reveal that when consumers have low preference for real-time delivery tracking, merchants are more inclined to choose self-delivery to avoid high delivery costs and platform commissions. When the price threshold is low and there is moderate demand for real-time delivery tracking, merchants prioritize profits on each order and opt for platform delivery, while platforms tend to refrain from reform. However, in case of high consumer preference for real-time delivery tracking and a low price threshold, merchants choose platform delivery, and fee transparency reform further increases their profits. Finally, in case of high consumer preference for real-time delivery tracking and a high price threshold, the reform has no impact on merchant choices. This study provides decision support for online food delivery platforms and merchants, aiding them in selecting the optimal delivery modes and formulating fee strategies to improve efficiency and meet consumer demands.
