Studies on the effects of digital transformation on enterprise architectures (EA) indicate that variability in the EA increases on different levels, such as the business and the data architecture. Dealingwith variability becomes a common challenge in the daily operations of many enterprises and requires methodical and technological support. Methodical support for controlling variability in EA can help enterprises manage variability more efficiently. In this context, the conjecture motivating this paper is that building blocks integrating business and data architecture or allowing for data-aware business process building blocks can help to ensure a high level of flexibility and, at the same time, control complexity in variability management. The paper aims to contribute to a better understanding of the requirements, necessary activities and frame conditions of method support for variability management of EA. The paper's main contribution is an initial method for identifying building blocks in enterprise architecture models that integrate several architecture layers and a way to capture such building blocks as ArchiMate models.

AI-as-a-Service (AIaaS) combines Artificial Intelligence (AI) and cloud computing tomake AI accessible to enterprises without implementing complex solutions or technologies on-premise. Many small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) that lack competencies in the AI and technology sector consider AIaaS as a promising option to implement AI solutions. However, the differences between AIaaS andAI on-premise have not attracted much research. The intention of this paper is to contribute to this area by analysing the literature in the field and investigating a concrete example in more detail. Exploring AIaaS is crucial to better understand the opportunities and limitations of AI services. The contributions of the paper are (a) an analysis of the literature on AIaaS to identify factors affecting AI implementation and how AIaaS solutions differ from on-premise solutions when introducing AI in a company, (b) a case study of an SME that compares AIaaS and AI on-premise in practice, and (c) the application potential of a morphological box to compare AIaaS and AI on-premise.

The digital twin is a frequent subject of discussion in both academia and industry. High expectations are placed on the concept of the digital twin across many industries. The idea of transferring and adapting this concept to business processes reveals new potentials, perspectives, and paths for the advanced digital transformation of enterprises. The effective exploitation of the potentials of the digital twin in the business process context is of priority for many business sectors. While the idea of a business-process-related digital twin has already been discussed in academia, there is still a lack of holistic, proven, and well-defined real-world use cases. This paper aims to deliver a substantial and valuable contribution to the research regarding the integration of digital twins and business processes through understanding and describing the expected and realistic capabilities of the digital twin for business processes. This is achieved through the development of two deliverables: The thesis of this paper is positioned around the novel idea that the development of a business-process-related digital twin must follow an evolutionary course based on consecutive steps. This position is supported and reinforced by a first unique maturity model to distinguish between the development stages of a digital twin for business processes. As the second deliverable, the functionality of the depicted digital business process twin is applied and discussed within the perimeter of a specific use case from the automotive industry. The novelty of this paper results from the integration of the terms digital model, digital shadow, and digital twin into a maturity-based concept in the spotlight of business processes. The novelty is driven by applying this concept to a real-world scenario.

Background and Related Work: Software startups face unique challenges in product development, including limited resources, the need for rapid innovation, and the constant pressure to adapt to market changes. Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) has recently gained significant attention, offering capabilities to assist creative processes, generate content, and enhance decision-making through data analysis. However, how GenAI can be integrated into agile product development processes in software startups remains an open question. Objective: This study aims to identify potential use cases for GenAI in software startups and explore how GenAI can support innovation, overcome development challenges, and integrate with agile practices to improve product quality and development speed. Method: We identified a list of GenAI use cases from existing systematic literature reviews and mapped them to engineering process areas in software startups. Following that, we conducted workshops with experts to validate our results. Results: The results provide a descriptive overview of GenAI's potential applications in software startup environments. Given the current state of the art, we identified areas that could benefit faster from integrating GenAI. Conclusions: The study delineates the prospective impact of GenAI on agile product development in software startups, showcasing areas of immediate applicability.

This paper investigates the potential of the Metaverse to enhance the sustainability of energy usage through the integration of blockchain technology and the Internet of Vehicles (IoV). Using the decentralized, immutable, and transparent characteristics of blockchain, we explore how these technologies can optimize energy transactions and Demand Response Management (DRM) strategies, between virtual Electric Vehicles (EVs) and energy systems. The Metaverse serves as a platform for testing, enabling the simulation and validation of these energy management technologies. The Metaverse functions as a platform for testing, enabling the simulation and validation of energy management technologies. The proposed approach highlights the capacity to transform sustainability practices by promoting the incorporation of technological advances in both virtual and real-world environments. This paper emphasizes the potential of Metaverse to advance sustainability in developing technologies, by proposing an approach to energy management that connects the IoV with blockchain and the Metaverse.

The world's ecosystems are undergoing rapid changes driven by climate change and human development, leading to accelerated habitat loss. These combined processes have already resulted in extinction and decline in many species population, threatening the sustainability of multiple ecosystems, and, ultimately, the survival of all life on earth, including human life. Facing this biodiversity crisis, scientists and nature conservation organizations lack important data regarding the state of the populations of most species on the planet, with only a limited fraction systematically monitored. Current population estimation methods are too slow to match the rapid extinction rates. This paper outlines initial stages of our work, which ultimately aims to ecological monitoring by integrating machine learning with crowdsourced citizen science. Specifically, here we report on our work-inprogress testing two approaches for classifying camera-trap data: engaging school students through Zooniverse and using a gamified platform with a broader audience. Our goal with this work is to determine the better approach to approximate expert classifications, in terms of reliability, scalability, and speed. Eventually this research aims to enhance ecologists' ability to cover more species, and create timely reports about the state of nature, to inform the creation of interventions and policies for a sustainable future.

In this paper, we explore the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on the Metaverse virtual economy, seeking to improve the understanding of this interesting area. The utilization of AI in the Metaverse reveals potential in many segments, including the virtual economy. The economy in a Metaverse environment offers even more opportunities to consumers and industries than the traditional Internet economy. At the same time the Metaverse virtual economy differs from the traditional online economy. In this paper we identify the similarities and differences of these two types of economy. We also conduct a systematic literature review and identify a gap that requires further research to be undertaken.

The widespread shift to hybrid work, blending in-office and remote work, has transformed traditional work environments, introducing new opportunities and challenges for organizations, team leaders, and employees. This study investigates how hybrid work influences e-leadership and virtual team (VT) dynamics, with the aim of identifying effective strategies for managing successful and sustainable hybrid virtual teams (HVTs). Adopting a qualitative two-phase research design, we first conducted an exploratory online questionnaire to capture current hybrid work environments, followed by semi-structured interviews to delve deeper into the impact of hybrid work on e-leadership and team dynamics. Our findings underscore the critical role of trust, communication, and adaptability in e-leadership within HVTs. We discovered that trust in HVTs hinges on the perceived legitimacy of remote work and visibility within the organization. Effective e-leadership requires balancing structured information and communication technology (ICT) use with spontaneous interactions to maintain team cohesion and productivity. Furthermore, phased integration and continuous adjustment based on corporate and hierarchical maturity are essential for sustaining HVT performance. This research extends existing theories on trust dynamics, leadership challenges, and employee well-being in VTs by highlighting unique aspects of hybrid settings. Our findings offer significant practical implications, suggesting that fostering managerial empathy, ensuring visibility, and legitimizing remote work can enhance trust and productivity in HVTs. Tailored leadership strategies and structured ICT use are vital for effective communication and team cohesion in hybrid settings.

Digital transformation (DT) is a fundamental change process that integrates digital technologies into an organization, altering its operations and value proposition. Organizational culture can significantly impact digital transformation. This paper explores the influence of organizational culture on digital transformation by identifying the cultural values that influence digital transformation and how they support a successful digital transformation. This research conducts a systematic literature review (SLR) to critically evaluate previous studies on the influence of organizational culture values on digital transformation. Using a comprehensive search strategy and rigorous selection process, the SLR identified twelve relevant studies. The findings are twenty-three organizational culture values influencing digital transformation. Moreover, the study provides how these cultural values can support a successful digital transformation if aligned with adaptive culture elements. Furthermore, the identified organizational culture values are categorized into the four organizational culture types of the Competing Value Framework, providing a high-level overview of how these values might map to different organizational culture types. The study suggests that these organizational culture values can foster resilience and agility and drive a successful digital transformation. Despite limitations, the research underscores the critical role of organizational culture values for a successful digital transformation and proposes future research directions.

Technologies play an essential role in local government's business operation internally, cross-organisation and their interaction with other stakeholders. Although such digital adoption creates sustainability which is an absolute crucial attachment for public services' initiatives, but technologies and innovation adoption within local governments, faces challenges and barriers. This paper identified the number of factors which local governments involve with when they adopt innovation, through adopting the most related framework and then by running a qualitative approach through several case studies across European municipalities, learns the challenges from those local governments. Analysing the result of the data collection through previous studies, helped this paper to match the lesson learnt from the municipalities with other experiences and practices highlighted by academics in the past to illustrate a rigorous comparison and legitimise the empirical analysis. Further study and suggestions are also given, required more focus and developing the concept by future researchers.
