The rapid advancement of technology has led to the emergence of Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) and the Metaverse, representing unique digital assets and a post-reality environment that combines virtual and digital worlds. This review aims to explore the legal and ethical challenges associated with NFTs and the Metaverse in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and to identify opportunities for the UAE to position itself as a leader in these technologies. A review of 15 research articles was conducted, focusing on privacy, cybersecurity, regulatory concerns, and socio-cultural issues related to NFTs and the Metaverse in the UAE. information relevant to the UAE was included, while unrelated data was excluded. The findings indicate that NFTs and the Metaverse offer significant opportunities for the UAE to lead in technological innovation. However, substantial legal and ethical challenges must be addressed to realize these benefits fully. Enhancing the financing and entrepreneurial ecosystem in the UAE is recommended to foster innovative applications of NFTs and the Metaverse. Addressing legal and ethical challenges is crucial to improving citizens' lives, boosting economic competitiveness, and driving innovation.

As the world is heading into a new era of software development (SD) an Agile Mindset (AM) has been seen to provide valuable underlying guiding elements to navigate an increasingly interconnected, turbulent, and dynamic business landscape, a VUCA-world. This study investigates the topic of agile methods and an AM through multiple-case studies with IT professionals from four tech companies. The study gathers early-stage research data to better understand what an agile SD team member does on an everyday basis in their work to exercise and achieve an AM, and what factors in the organization are impacting them in being able to do so. VUCA has been utilized as a conceptual background through which the findings - AM means and influences - have been identified, concluding that there is still much to be harnessed and learned about the elements of an AM that can improve project success outcomes.

This research investigates the impact of a remote working setting on soft-ware engineers' (SEs') well-being, as well as explores the potential of Positive Psychology to manage challenges and enhance their overall well-being. Software engineers (SEs) face various challenges in their daily routine, among which are to meet deadlines, fix coding problems creatively and on time, deal with non-coding related tasks, be as productive as possible, and deal with clients. All these provoke a high amount of pressure, leading to high rates of stress, anxiety and self-doubt, which consequently reduce their motivation and affect their overall performance. The recent and abrupt shift to a Work-From-Home (WFH) model, due to COVID-19 restrictions, accentuated these challenges. Meanwhile, it introduced apprehension related to the adaptation to the new work setting while managing isolation and sustaining productivity. Despite the available research on SEs' well-being on a traditional work setting, there seems to be limited research on the specific challenges as well as promising interventions for their overall well-being and resilience while working remotely. This study, aims to address the gap and explore the potential of Positive Psychology Intervention as a tool that could positively contribute to their productivity, motivation, resilience, personal and professional balance and their overall well-being, while working from home. The Systematic Literature Review examines the challenges Software Engineers face daily while WFH, in terms of performance, productivity, motivation, and well-being. Following the aforementioned WFH challenges, this study explores the potential applications of Positive Psychology Interventions, as well as organizational practices to enhance their overall well-being and performance.

On the Analysis of EGaIn Liquid Antenna Array: Towards Enhanced Performance and Adaptability in Wireless Communication Systems 1

dipole crossed antenna array involving hybrid radiating elements composed of copper, annealed steel, and liquid metal (LM). Significantly, this study marks for the first time, to the best of our knowledge, the pioneering integration of LM radiating elements into an antenna array, introducing a capability to dynamically adjust the physical size of their radiating elements while maintaining optimal array performance. In particular, the configuration consists of a.10 x 10 array of dipole crossed antenna elements, mainly consisted of an alloy of eutectic Gallium Indium (EGaIn) cylinders. Each dipole consists of eight cylinders of EGaIn, achieving an exceptional efficiency exceeding 80% within a frequency range of 1.5 GHz to 2.1 GHz. Notably, the analysis results reveal a remarkable realized gain of 21 dB, with the radiation pattern remaining consistent across the entire operating frequency bandwidth. This innovative concept paves the way for future applications not in only in the realm of 5G cellular multiple input multiple output (MIMO) networks but also in the forthcoming 6G wireless communication systems.

The ENCRYPT project, an innovative collaborative project under the Horizon Europe Framework Programme, will integrate privacy-preserving technologies across three key sectors, aiming to revolutionize the way sensitive data is processed and protected. This white paper outlines the project's core methodologies and applications, including the use of Fully Homomorphic Encryption, Trusted Execution Environments, Differential Privacy and advanced Hybrid Protection Services. Through its platform, ENCRYPT seeks to address the challenge of ensuring data privacy and utility, across federated data spaces within the EU. This is essential towards ENCRYPT's compliance with GDPR standards while enabling secure and efficient data processing activities. ENCRYPT use cases stem from the domains of Fintech, Health and Cybersecurity and through this, the versatility and impact of its results and activities will be presented. Each use case leverages the project's cutting-edge privacy-preserving technologies to safeguard data while still allowing for data-analytics to occur and enabling decision-making. IS studies have thoroughly investigated the role of governance in information technology (IT) outsourcing, but little research has been conducted on a rather recent type of outsourcing-namely, microsourcing, i.e., the sourcing of smaller scale projects to rather small-sized independent contractor firms or individual freelancers. This paper investigates the technical conditions that surround the employment arrangement of such microsourcing practices. The paper proposes a synthesis of organizational conditions of IS microsourcing with the changing technical conditions for software development as an explanatory framework for the increased viability of microsourcing. The main tenant of the argument is that increased modularity of programming code promotes: clearer division of labour;easier communication;and enhanced perceived controllability. It is argued that some of the most costly aspects of negotiation among programmers are absorbed by the cognitive organization of the programming languages. The paper, furthermore, argues that this arrangement leads to individualization of rapid, incremental and iterative development life cycles with extensive code reuse, and a rich variety of customized IT solutions.

Undoubtedly, even though the blockchain constitutes a big opportunity for the organizations of all the industries, the virtues of this technology cannot be harnessed without an adequate level of managerial skills. Despite the emphasis that has been given on the impact of top management support on blockchain adoption throughout the literature, there is shortage of research papers exploring the blockchain-related knowledge that the technology managers should obtain. This study comprises an initial attempt to cover this literature gap by explicating the adoption of blockchain through the lens of the five technology management processes proposed within the Gregory's framework (identification, selection, acquisition, exploitation, protection). By performing a literature review, this research paper detects twenty-three critical strategic questions and segments them into the five processes of technology management. In addition, regarding every single question, it presents possible answers deriving from the bibliography. From the academics' side, this study suggests a synthesis of multiple issues pertaining to the wide topic of blockchain adoption, while it comprises the first step to develop the theory of the necessary blockchain-related knowledge from the angle of technology managers. From the practical point of view, it informs technology managers about several questions that they will have to respond to during the forthcoming blockchain-based era and instruct them on how to make the most suitable options. Being informed about diverse issues around blockchain implementation, the technology managers can considerably contribute to the success of enterprise blockchain projects.

The Intent-Based Networks (IBN) are believed to be the future of the networking. They incorporate the advantages of many modern networking paradigms. It is believed that they may operate in a globally optimal manner de-coupling the data and control plane as the SDNs. Resource management is conducted with the use of the virtual networks concept. However, in opposite to the classic networks, IBNs are configured automatically, and the objectives and requirements are given by administrators and users as high-level business intents. In this paper, we introduce the idea of the machine learning based management system that enables IBN to operate according to its paradigm. We present the usage of our system to perform virtual network admission control tasks. We present the results of some initial simulations that were conducted to verify our approach. The outcomes of the experiments are very promising.

Developers use different means to document the security concerns of their code. Because of all of these opportunities, they may forget where the information is stored, or others may not be aware of it, and leave it unmaintained for so long that it becomes obsolete, if not useless. In this work, we analyzed different sources of code documentation from four large-scale, real-world, open-source projects in an industrial setting to understand where developers report their security concerns. In particular, we manually inspected 2.559 instances taken from source code comments, commit messages, and issue trackers. Overall, we found that developers prefer to document security concerns in source code comments and issue trackers. We also found that the longer the comments stay unfixed, the more likely they remain unfixed. Thus, to create awareness among developers, we implemented a pipeline to remind them about the introduction or removal of comments pointing to a security problem.

Over the years, the use of gamification in teaching different agile approaches become more popular. Many proposed solutions are based on moving tasks on physical or virtual boards. Some connect task realisation with the performance of simple, repetitive manual tasks. The approach described in this paper utilises the activity of drawing simple icons on post-its to mimic the active and creative aspect of e.g. software development. The described game allows for teaching multiple practices used in Scrum software development connected to software quality and requirements, including the importance of the Definition of Done, acceptance criteria and continuous improvement based on Sprint Review and Retrospective. Initial results are promising while working with students with no or almost no previous understanding of the software development process. Additionally, the game can be easily modified or extended to help with teaching other aspects of the Scrum software development process.
