Addressing the lack of knowledge on sustainability and the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN-SDGs) is essential for global development. Emerging technologies hold immense potential for educating and training in SDGs. This paper presents a pilot project in higher education applying the Design Thinking Methodology to design a novel Virtual Reality (VR) training solution to raise awareness about sustainability and the UN-SDGs through handson experiential training. The paper presents the design journey for designing the VR environment prototype focusing on three SDGs advancing through five phases (Research and Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Test). Preliminary results highlight the urgent need for immersive educational resources on sustainability and the SDGs, with VR-based training showing promising potential. Low-fidelity 2D and 3D prototypes presented as the first step of designing and developing a VR-based training solution on three selected SDGs demonstrate the opportunities of adopting VR for promoting UN-SDGs. Creating such an innovative VR training tool will advance theoretical and practical realms enhancing understanding of the 17 SDGs through immersive experiences.

This study examines the relationship between user behavior and exposure to information about Privacy-Preserving Search Engines (PPSEs). The research explores whether exposure to positive, neutral, or negative information about privacy practices affects user behavior toward PPSEs. Results show an increase in PPSE awareness post-exposure but no substantial change in usage. Negative news impacts trust, while positive news enhances usability perception. These findings highlight the need for multifaceted strategies to address privacy concerns and promote PPSE adoption.

The adoption of Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs) is regarded as the Central Bank's latest advancement to optimize the usage of fiat money under multiple domains, such measures illustrate the evolution of the monetary sector in the digital world and are expected to stimulate financial innovation. By analyzing existing academic research performed towards CBDCs through theoretical advancement, contextual analysis, and empirical contributions, this article aims to highlight the current state of academic knowledge towards CBDCs in multiple disciplines, with the intention of offering future research pathways. A systematic literature review approach was conducted using 39 research papers that were identified through the Scopus and Web of Science databases. The current study provides an overview of CBDCs to scholars and policymakers, through an analysis of a variety of published literature covering multiple aspects;which will be imperative towards addressing the rationale for and determining the benefits of utilizing CBDCs.

Cybersecurity is an increasing concern for organizations. Reports indicate that most incidents stem from human factors and, fostering a desired cybersecurity culture (CSC) is a crucial strategy to minimize the risk. Research suggests that exploring CSC in an organizational context requires a theoretical foundation, with numerous theories offering diverse perspectives on studying CSC in various organizational contexts. Previous studies have proposed and utilized Schein's organizational culture framework to conceptualize, analyze, and understand organizational CSC. However, these studies have not addressed the dynamics of the framework's levels for fostering a desired CSC within an organizational context. The present study addresses this gap by adapting a framework based on Schein's organizational culture framework to use it as a foundation for fostering a desired cybersecurity culture in organizations. The adapted framework is structured into three interconnected levels (tiers): 1) Operations 2) Principles 3) Mindset. The study also explores the interplay of the adapted concepts to foster the desired CSC in an organization. The adapted framework provides a theoretical basis to explore CSC and insights for practitioners on shaping and sustaining a culture that prioritizes cybersecurity.

Digital transformation is critical for businesses, enabling the integration of technological solutions to improve processes, customer experience, business models and overall organisation. Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems such as SAP business One (SAP B1) are at the heart of digital transformation. These systems integrate various business functions such as accounting, financial management, procurement and HR management into a single system, facilitating efficient data management and analysis. A qualitative analysis based on four distinct case studies examines the implementation of SAP B1 and its impact on enterprises' digital transformation efforts. In particular, the research objective is to determine how ERP systems can be analysed from a Digital Transformation perspective and how they contribute to each pillar of Digital Transformation (customer experience, business process, business model and organisational transformation). The findings provide valuable insights for practitioners to drive positive results and highlight areas that need further attention, enhancing understanding of how to implement digital strategies in practice successfully. The study's empirical evidence can significantly benefit SMEs, the backbone of the European economy.

The Smart List system addresses the problem of rising prices. A web application was developed that recommends alternative products for supermarket shopping lists with better prices and quality. Several algorithms were developed, based mainly on collaborative filtering and clustering, to assist users with creating a shopping list that best fits their preferences for products and budget. The users can, but do not need to, input specific preferences, as these can be inferred from the items added to their shopping lists. Thus, dynamic recommendations are given that respond to the changing user needs and product prices. This deployed system scrapes the product data and prices from the webstores of the three largest Greek supermarkets, assisting users to create shopping lists from combinations of products considering the user budget and supermarket preferences.

Testing is an essential phase of software development to evaluate the quality of the product. Scriptless testing is a prominent technique that makes this phase efficient. However, there is a research gap in automating the testing process from the requirements. In this research we want to propose an innovative approach: Automated Scriptless GUI Testing Aligned with Requirements and User Stories. Using the open-source GUI testing tool, TESTAR, we want to propose an AI-powered tool that enables TESTAR to test software against specified requirements and user stories.

Team composition is a critical factor influencing collaboration within agile software development. This study investigates the impact of gender distribution on teamwork quality in software engineering capstone courses. We examined the experiences of 240 students organized into 40 teams during an agile project course. We analyzed two surveys, one conducted before team composition and one at the end of the project work. As much as 91% of the students chose to use the practice of conducting stand-up meetings in their project work and the majority were satisfied with the practice. Further, our analysis reveals that while women tend to engage more in design and men in programming, an increase in the proportion of women within a team correlates with a higher involvement of women in programming tasks. Our findings highlight gender differences in perceptions and experiences related to project involvement in agile software engineering courses.

Green AI aims to make artificial intelligence energy-efficient and sustainable. Researchers have formulated new frameworks, methods, models and experiments aimed at the understanding and optimization of greenability in the AI arena. One of the emerging observations is that Green AI research has to cope with challenges, threats and limitations that are not always easy to overcome. In this paper, we investigate how validity threats (VTs) are reported in Green AI research. To this end, we address two research questions. RQ1 examines whether Green AI researchers identify VTs in their paper and what influences this practice. RQ2 categorizes the VTs mentioned in these papers, looking at their types and prevalence. We conclude with a list of takeaways and recommended actions aiming to enhance the understanding and management of VTs in the field.

Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) methods, such as PROMETHEE II, play a crucial role in complex decision-making scenarios, including team formation. However, they face scalability challenges as the number of criteria and options increases. This paper introduces a novel Hybrid Evolutionary Algorithm integrated with PROMETHEE II, specifically designed for team formation. This hybrid approach combines the exploration power of evolutionary algorithms and the decision-making capabilities of PROMETHEE II, aiming to improve both performance and scalability in decision-making processes. Initial experiments demonstrate significant improvements in both solution quality and scalability compared to existing methods facing similar challenges. This research enables the creation of more efficient and effective team formation in complex decision-making scenarios.
