In current knowledge economy, organizations have identified knowledge sharing as a catalyst to improve business. Therefore, the need to build relationships between organizational processes and knowledge activities are crucial to gain competitive advantages over competitors. However, there are new challenges facing organizations in transferring from business processes to knowledge processes. This paper suggests an integrative knowledge sharing performance framework based on the analysis of literature and the exploration of key performance indicators. Performance measurement is used to evaluate and measure the impact of knowledge sharing to organizational performance, this measurement can further provide support for organizational decision making. A major contribution of this paper is providing suggestions for future research and practices on how knowledge sharing can improve efficiency and effectiveness of employees, also reduce cost and errors in organizational business processes.

Much research work in business process modeling (BPM) has been spent on determining which notation is most suitable for industrial practice. However, a lot of this work was performed in academic environments instead of industrial settings. This paper introduces and discusses a case of selecting a BPM notation for a medium-sized enterprise from utility industries. The steps taken in this decision making process include the analysis of requirements originating from regulation in the domain, a survey among the future users of the notation, and the evaluation of candidate notations by expert users. The main contributions of this paper are (1) a case study from energy industries showing issues and challenges when deciding on the most suitable notation, (2) a survey comparing the understandability of notations from the users' perspective and (3) experiences from the decision making process.

Converting software sizes measured by one Functional Size Measurement (FSM) method to another is usually achieved by measuring the size of a sample of software items by both methods and deriving a statistical correlation curve that can be used for converting the whole set of measurements. This paper describes a 'calculation method' to convert functional sizes measured by the MkII FSM method to COSMIC functional sizes. The method exploits some common features of both FSM methods and uses 'functional profiling' of measurements in order to form homogeneous datasets suitable for conversion. Applying the method to measurements of the same software by both FSM methods confirms that the calculated COSMIC sizes are more accurate than statistically-converted sizes. Comparing the way in which the two methods measure functional size and the results of the conversion study yields significant, positive insights into the design assumptions of the COSMIC FSM method.

Serious Games (SG) are more and more used for training in various domains, but notably in crisis management. In order to improve training results, learner assessment can provide insights on what went right or wrong during a training session. Such assessment is more complex when actors' individual actions must be considered, but also the results of their interactions (collective actions). Such interactions can either be engaged with real or simulated players, through adaptive dialogues immersing players in the different ways (actions, procedures,.) to manage a crisis. This paper presents a multi-agent simulation and assessment approach of SG players, targeting the management of distributed and heterogeneous information (in nature or source) based on the concept of Evaluation Space allowing the production of individual and collective assessments. This approach is developed and illustrated on the SIMFOR SG dedicated to crisis management.

Product recommendation in e-commerce is a widely applied technique which has been shown to bring benefits in both product sales and customer satisfaction. In this work we address a particular product recommendation setting - small-scale retail websites where the small amount of returning customers makes traditional user-centric personalization techniques inapplicable. We apply an item-centric product recommendation strategy which combines two well-known methods association rules and text-based similarity - and demonstrate the effectiveness of the approach through two evaluation studies with real customer data.

Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) can provide for significant benefits in different areas of human activities. However, the existing gap between methods, modelling approaches and viewpoints of the disciplines involved into CPS development creates significant difficulties for creating viable CPS solutions. In this paper we are trying to bridge this gap via linking business model and system design and configuration disciplines. It is investigated how a business model captured in an enterprise model can be used for configuring a CPS which is part of implementing the business model. The results are illustrated on an example from the transportation industry.

UPROM tool is a business process modeling tool designed to conduct business process and user requirements analysis in an integrated way to constitute a basis for process automation. Usually, business process models are not utilized systematically to develop related artifacts, specifically when a process-aware information system is to be developed to automate those processes. This results in completeness, consistency and maintainability problems for those artifacts. Unified business process modeling methodology, UPROM, is developed to integrate process modeling and practices. Enabling the application of UPROM, the tool provides editors for six different diagram types based on a common meta-model. It offers features so that modelers can develop a cohesive set of models. Using these models, UPROM tool can be used to automatically generate artifacts of user requirements document, COSMIC based software size estimation, process definition document and business glossary.

The goal of the present paper is to introduce a new model for estimating business function recovery complexity in order to predict reasonable recovery timeframes in case of an unexpected information system failure. The method has its roots in the Use Case Points approach, which is a broadly tested tool for software complexity estimation. The current paper illustrates the pure theoretical form of the new model as well as the mapping between software complexity and business function recovery complexity. The method includes 3 categories of factors which affect the recovery procedure and are weighted according to the Rank Order Centroid (ROC) approach of assigning weights. The method is entitled business Continuity Points. The idea behind the development of the new method is the establishment of a standard approach for implementing efficient time management regarding business function recovery. The estimated recovery time depends on the impact of technical, environmental and unexpected factors. Each function's Recovery Time should be compared with the Recovery Time Objective (RTO) and Maximum Accepted Outage (MAO) values as they are proposed by business continuity and IT experts.

Independent software vendors need to grow beyond their domestic markets. Software producing organizations are faced with a great number of options and opportunities on how they choose to conduct internationalization. Interestingly, efforts conducted have a high failure rate and software companies rarely succeed at first. In this paper we present a systematic mapping study and the results of 20 interviews with CEOs in the Dutch software sector. This study highlights the most important decisions made during the process of internationalization: the drivers, the process planning, market selection, and the followed market entry strategy. The choices available to the key decision makers in the right market selection and entry strategy are most strongly influenced and limited by the product architecture, characteristics of the product and company, and the level of internationalization experience located within the independent software company. The findings from this research support decision making in internationalization projects by software firms and policy makers in finding support strategies for export missions.

Alignments provide a robust approach for conformance checking, which has been largely applied in various contexts such as auditing and performance analysis. Alignment-based conformance checking techniques pinpoint the deviations causing nonconformity based on a cost function. However, such a cost function is often manually defined on the basis of human judgment and thus error-prone, leading to alignments that do not provide accurate explanations of nonconformity. This paper proposes an approach to automatically define the cost function based on information extracted from the past process executions. The cost function only relies on objective factors and thus enables the construction of probable alignments, i.e. alignments that provide probable explanations of nonconformity. Our approach has been implemented in ProM and evaluated using both synthetic and real-life data.
