In this paper we introduce a new Controlled Natural Language (CNL) known as "Noam". It is used to express cyber security knowledge and for reasoning over it. The approach follows examples set by other domain-specific languages and constrained grammars, but is highly unusual due to its singular focus on cyber security. Like most CNLs Noam is both human-readable and machine-solvable, thus fulfilling important assurance requirements with respect to transparency and explainability. The language seeks to address a growing problem faced by security engineers and architects;namely, that their endeavours are constrained by the complexity and sheer interconnectedness of the systems they protect. This is further compounded by year-on-year vulnerability disclosure rates and diversification of the Tactics, Techniques and Procedures used by threat actors. Our approach is analogical in which the Noam CNL is used to construct a system model, instrument it with data from the real environment and apply functional programming techniques in order to 'solve-for' certain conditions of interest. The intention is to demonstrate the value of CNLs and semantic reasoning within cyber security, framed in the context of improving the information available to security engineers, architects and other decision-makers.

The pressure for organizations to gain and keep their competitive advantage necessitates continuous assessment and improvement of their capabilities. Maturity modeling has emerged as a management approach to guide organizations in developing and improving their capabilities, following a structured path for improvement within a specific domain. Existing research lacks a theoretically grounded model for defining maturity levels, particularly concerning organizational capabilities. This paper addresses this gap by introducing a model for defining maturity levels for organizational capabilities. Drawing on the Dreyfus model of skill acquisition, the model defines the characteristics of organizational capabilities across six maturity levels. The model is developed following design science research and demonstrated and evaluated in the development of a data analytics maturity model. The findings of the expert survey provided positive evidence regarding the validity, relevance, completeness, clarity, and utility. We emphasize the distinction between capability-based and process-based maturity levels and propose our model as a tool to support the development of capability-based maturity models in various domains.

An event log stores information about executed activities in a process. Conformance-checking techniques are used to measure the quality of a process model using an event log. Part of the investigated quality dimensions is precision. Precision puts the behavior of a log and a model in relation. There are event logs that also store information about enabled activities besides the actual executed activities. These event logs are called translucent event logs. A technique for measuring precision is escaping arcs. However, this technique does not consider information on enabled activities contained in a translucent event log. This paper provides a formal definition of how to compute a precision score by considering translucent information. We discuss our method using a translucent event log and four different models. Our translucent precision score conveys the underlying concept by considering more information.

In the last decade, Bitcoin has transformed from an experimental asset into a global store of value, emerging as a viable alternative to traditional finance. This study explores Bitcoin adoption among merchants in Panajachel (Guatemala), El Zonte (El Salvador), and Uvita (Costa Rica). Quantitative research gathered insights from 64 respondents, revealing that 64% of merchants believed they attracted more customers due to Bitcoin acceptance. Usage of Bitcoin earnings varied, with 44% holding it as an asset and 27% converting it to fiat. Additionally, 67% found Bitcoin easier than credit cards. The analysis was guided by the Technology Acceptance Model and the Diffusion of Innovations theory, focusing on perceived utility, ease of use, market advantage, and compatibility. This research highlights the value of localized studies in understanding Bitcoin's adoption, offering valuable insights for policymakers and businesses. It sheds light on Bitcoin's dual role as both a currency and a payment system, enabling users to transact outside of traditional finance.

Mobile app repositories serve as large-scale crowdsourced information systems used for various document-based software engineering tasks, leveraging product descriptions, user reviews, and other natural language documents. Particularly, feature extraction (i.e., identifying functionalities or capabilities of a mobile app mentioned in these documents) is key for product recommendation, topic modelling, and feedback analysis. However, researchers often face domain-specific challenges in mining these repositories, including the integration of heterogeneous data sources, large-scale data collection, normalization and ground-truth generation for feature-oriented tasks. In this paper, we introduce MAppKG, a combination of software resources and data artefacts in the field of mobile app repositories aimed at supporting feature-oriented knowledge generation tasks. Our contribution provides a framework for automatically constructing a knowledge graph that models a domain-specific catalog of natural language documents related to mobile applications. We distribute MApp-KG through a public triplestore, enabling its immediate use for future research and replication of our findings.

Human-AI collaboration in industrial manufacturing promises to overcome current limitations by combining the flexibility of human intelligence and the scaling and processing capabilities of machine intelligence. To ensure effective collaboration between human and AI team members, we envision a software-driven coordination mechanism that orchestrates the interactions between the participants in Human-AI teaming scenarios and help to synchronize the information flow between them. A structured process-oriented approach to systems engineering aims at generalizability, deployment efficiency and enhancing the quality of the resulting software by formalizing the human-AI interaction as a BPMN process model. During runtime, this process model is executed by the teaming engine, one of the core components of the *** software platform. By incorporating dynamic execution traces of these process models into a knowledge graph structure and linking them to contextual background knowledge, we facilitate the monitoring of variations in process executions and inference of new insights during runtime. Knowledge graphs are a powerful tool for semantic integration of diverse data, thereby significantly improving the data quality, which is still one of the biggest issues in AI-driven software solutions. We present the *** software platform and its key components as a framework for enabling transparent teamwork between humans and AI in industry. We discuss its application in the context of an industrial use case in plastic injection molding production. Overall, this *** platform provides a robust, flexible and accountable solution for human-AI collaboration in manufacturing.

This paper investigated consumer perceptions and attitudes for decision making in Cultured Meat (CM), driven by the growing interest in innovative food products. The motivation stemmed from the anticipated challenges in consumer acceptance of CM, a novel alternative to traditional meat production. The research objective included to identify key factors influencing consumer behaviour in the context of the novel food product. The Systematic Literature Review-methodically explored and synthesised existing research, giving insights to the factors affecting consumer perceptions and attitudes towards decisions on CM. Then, a tailored conceptual framework, the CulturedMeat Attitude and Perception Assessment (CAPA), has been developed to address the identified gaps and limitations in understanding consumer perceptions and attitudes. The results highlighted the complex and multidimensional nature of consumer attitudes, emphasising the role of knowledge (awareness, comprehension, familiarity), perception (disgust, neophobia, curiosity, fear, trust), and external factors (ethical issues, social factors, product attributes, information influence, perceived exclusivity, regulatory considerations) that could be used by decision makers such as food innovators and marketers. The CAPA framework integrated these factors to offer a holistic perspective on consumer behaviour, overcoming the limitations of existing work and offering insights to the decision makers in the industry.

Process mining, a technique turning event data into business process insights, has traditionally operated on the assumption that each event corresponds to a singular case or object. However, many real-world processes are intertwined with multiple objects, making them object-centric. This paper focuses on the emerging domain of object-centric process mining, highlighting its potential yet underexplored benefits in actual operational scenarios. Through an in-depth case study of Borusan Cat's after-sales service process, this study emphasizes the capability of object-centric process mining to capture entangled business process details. Utilizing an event log of approximately 65,000 events, our analysis underscores the importance of embracing this paradigm for richer business insights and enhanced operational improvements.

Modern retail is evolving from physical locations where customers are consulted and provided with goods to digitized multi-channel experiences with a variety of compelling features for a new, digitally educated generation of consumers. This study examines current developments and trends, as well as potential challenges retailers face as they leap into this new era. Based on established guidelines from the field of design science research, a systematic literature review is conducted to extract profound theoretical knowledge on the subject under investigation from the existing literature as well as to transfer this knowledge into the practical design of an exemplary prototype for a modern e-commerce platform. The results show that significant changes occur mainly in four areas: marketing and customer engagement, store management and representation, prediction and forecasting, and product assessment and shopping experience. Google Cloud is selected and justified as a suitable cloud provider for the project scope. The architecture for a use case in the area of personalization and prediction is then developed, implemented and evaluated.

Paratransit systems are designed to cater to individuals with reduced mobility, and have played a pivotal role in providing essential mobility and accessibility for those who often encounter challenges with conventional public transport. These systems rely on flexible transport, and are characterised by their high configurability and uncertainty stemming from factors such as low demand, complexity, and the specific mobility needs of the targeted group. Unfortunately, some of these systems have encountered failures due to structural and parameterisation errors. This paper proposes a Decision Support System (DSS) to support the strategic and tactical decisions of conception and design of paratransit systems, as well as to support operational management. This system aims to integrate the interests of different stakeholders during the decision-making process in order to obtain more robust solutions. Particular focus is given to a segment of the DSS that interfaces with operational management and simulation components. This integration facilitates the assessment and comparison of alternative scenarios, utilizing diverse criteria to achieve the most suitable parameterisation and comprehend the associated risks tied to specific decisions. The tool provides assistance across various decision-making scenarios, and within this context, we will scrutinize its efficacy in identifying and comprehending the impacts of varying time window sizes on the systems' performance. The outcomes of these analyses underscore the significance of contemplating diverse parameters in decisions related to mobility. The tool provides valuable insights, enabling better alignment with genuine needs, and ensuring that devised solutions align with user preferences.
