Maintenance within the mining industry is a global challenge, demanding innovative solutions due to its multifaceted nature. The complexity, size, competition, escalating costs, and the need for a proficient workforce present formidable obstacles. This study focuses on optimizing technically skilled worker allocation in the mining industry's maintenance department, developing a continuous-event simulation model. The ever-increasing intricacy of mining equipment necessitates heightened reliability to ensure efficient, continuous production. Adequate maintenance is crucial in this context. The research problem revolves around the critical role of technically skilled workers during maintenance operations, where their absence can lead to delays and operational inefficiencies. Skilled maintenance technicians are indispensable, capable of accurately diagnosing equipment issues, reducing costly breakdowns, and minimizing downtime through preventive maintenance. They also expedite the repair process when required. To address these challenges, our study introduces a continuous event simulation algorithm designed to minimize costs. This algorithm takes into account factors such as production losses and maintenance workforce expenses while maximizing equipment utilization. By doing so, the research contributes to the field by emphasizing the importance of a skilled workforce in mining maintenance, ensuring equipment longevity, performance, and safety. The contribution of this study lies in its practical application of advanced algorithms to optimize technically skilled worker allocation, mitigating operational challenges and highlighting the crucial role of skilled maintenance management in the evolving landscape of mining equipment.

Designing a User Interface to Explore Collections of Directly-Follows Graphs for Process Mining Analysis 1

Process mining tools use Directly-Follows Graphs (DFGs) as the main means of visualization for exploring event logs and extracting valuable insights therefrom. Extracting significant insights from DFGs is a laborious process that involves multiple data manipulation operations and comparisons between the resulting DFGs generated after each manipulation. However, current process mining tools lack the ability to uniformly manipulate and manage multiple DFGs in a consistent manner. The objective of this study is to identify the requirements for designing a user-friendly interface to handle collections of DFGs to search for interesting visualizations for process mining analysis. To achieve this, three different data sources were used: a literature review of visual query tools, the analysis of LoVizQL, a query language for process mining, and the examination of reports from business Process Intelligence Challenges. By combining these sources, insights into interface design needs aligned with real process mining applications were obtained. As a result, we have identified 14 requirements grouped into 3 main categories. These requirements serve as the basis to build future user interfaces of visual query tools for process mining.

In administrative processes, such as financial or governmental processes, humans typically do most of the work and must be allocated to tasks in an efficient manner. This allocation is made complicated by the different authorizations and the varying effectiveness of people for tasks. Moreover, administrative processes operate under substantial uncertainty, as the customer's journey through the process typically is uncertain upon their arrival. To help solve this problem, we present a framework for resource optimization in administrative processes and delineate its differences from existing resource allocation models. We proceed to show several resource allocation solutions that have been developed with the framework. We specifically address the challenges that are encountered when implementing these solutions, some of which remain unresolved. By doing so we aim to shed light on promising avenues for future research in this domain.

Semantic web technologies have been frequently used in smart agriculture systems to address integration and interoperability issues, while enhancing expressiveness through their automatic reasoning capabilities. Despite continuous advancements in the field, there is no existent ontology capable of providing a comprehensive representation of the spatial and temporal knowledge, essential in the context of smart farming. In this paper we propose such a model, pass it through a rigorous validation and verification process, and employ it as a representational layer in an IoT agricultural application. The resulting system utilizes real-world high-quality information to offer various functionalities, including crop health monitoring and disease risk forecasting. This work opens a new perspective regarding the development of smart farming applications, by enabling ontological models to fully exploit the spatial and temporal dimensions of agricultural information.

Recent advances in object-centric process mining necessitated the standardization of object-centric event data (OCED). An IEEE taskforce has developed a "meta-model" for OCED, but there is no existing reference implementation or automated techniques to transform legacy data into OCED. This task requires domain-specific knowledge about the semantics of the legacy data in order to make explicit how events act on various inter-related data objects and their attributes. We propose a semantic header that defines how extracted legacy data maps to OCED concepts and the domain-specific reference ontology using PG-schema. We automatically translate the header into database queries to construct an event knowledge graph that is compliant with OCED and the domain ontology using a declarative extract-load-transform approach. The approach has been implemented and demonstrated on 7 real-life datasets, making it one of the first attempts to make OCED operational.

Occupational accidents have always been very important for all industries due to its significant impacts on projects and society. Whereas the case in construction industry is also similar due to higher number of occupational accidents recorded in various countries. In current dynamic technological era, conventional Health and Safety (H&S) practices are not sufficient thus new approaches are important to explore. It is observed from the detailed literature review that there are various existing tools designed by various researcher in different scenario but there is a lack to device an integrated approach. Therefore, this paper proposes an integrated approach to monitor the H&S at site. The proposed framework will help the decision makers to manage and monitor the health and safety practices at site in a real time environment.

Misinformation can harm individuals and societies, with social media and online communities amplifying its reach and impact. One effective strategy to counteract the spread of misinformation online is social corrections, in which people on socialmedia actively challenge others who post or spread it. People hesitate to do so for reasons related to empathy, fear of affecting their relationships, futility, and subjective norms. This research aims to explore the impact of empathy on individuals' willingness to challenge misinformation. The research also investigates the mediation role of the personal factors of perspective-taking and the need for cognition, along with the perceived impacts on their relationships, on the relationship between empathy and the willingness to challenge. The data was collected from 250 UK-based social networking users and then analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling. The results of the analysis supported that perspective-taking ( beta = 0.064, p = 0.011), the need for cognition ( beta = 0.022, p = 0.048), and perceived relationship costs (beta = 0.035, p = 0.003) all fully mediated the impact of empathy on the willingness to challenge misinformation. The results also show that empathy does not have a direct impact on willingness to challenge misinformation. Individuals with varying levels of empathy converge in their attitudes toward challenging misinformation influenced by a combination of cognitive processes and considerations of their relationships.

The purpose of the article is to prepare a methodology for an advanced system that implements screening among children of early school age. The screening will be implemented in classrooms using cameras. Cameras in bi-weekly windows will study children's behavior and the system will report alerts when abnormal behavior is detected. The alerts are intended to recommend in-depth examinations with a specialist. In this article, the authors present a preliminary study to assess the feasibility of rapidly creating classifiers that detect specific behavioral elements (e.g., open mouth, putting fingers in mouth, asymmetrical closing of eyes, etc.). The article aims to define a methodology for detecting anomalies in children's behavior, which in the next stages of the project will be used to detect undesirable behaviors such as lack of concentration, hyperactivity, epilepsy, undesirable behavior to noise and stress. The aim of the presented research is to create a methodology based on proprietary neural network-based classifiers in later studies implementing screening tests. The presented article presents research comparing the performance of two different neural network architectures: an advanced ResNet-based model and a simpler custom convolutional neural network (CNN). The research presented here demonstrates that both advanced and simple models have their place in the rapid development of microclassifiers and allow acceptance of the chosen methodology for further work on student screening.

Existing research in predictive process maintenance has recently focus on designing models for an online prediction where both training and testing should be performed efficiently, sequentially and in a scalable manner. However, less attention has been given to the realistic requirement of detecting concept drifts on the fly during training. Additionally, the retraining frequency as well as the training dataset size are used to be statically pre-decided. In this work, we address the previous shortcomings when designing our dynamic concept drift detection and online next activity prediction framework DynaTrainCDD. Our framework first uses a PrefixTree-driven method to detect drifts online then utilizes the Weibull distribution to estimate the retraining parameters. An extensive experimental evaluation using 10 real world datasets shows that our model additionally performs on par with or better than stateof-the-art methods in terms of accuracy while requiring a comparable running time.

After the long period of forced work from home, many knowledge workers have not only developed a strong habit of remote work, but also consider flexibility as their personal right and no longer as a privilege. Existing research suggest that the majority prefers to work two or three days per week from home and are likely to quit or search for a new job if forced to return to full time office work. Given these changes, companies are challenged to alter their work policies and satisfy the employee demands to retain talents. The subsequent decrease in office presence, also calls for transformations in the offices, as the free space opens up opportunities for cutting the rental costs, as well as the other expenses related to office maintenance, amenities, and perks. In this paper, we report our findings from comparing work policies in three Nordic tech and fintech companies and identify the discrepancies in the way the corporate intentions are communicated to the employees. We discuss the need for a more systematic approach to setting the goals behind a revised work policy and aligning the intensions with the company's actions. Further, we discuss the need to resolve the inherent conflicts of interest between the individual employees (flexibility, individual productivity, and wellbeing) and the companies (profitability, quality of products and services, employee retention, attractiveness in the job market).
