Internet and social media are fueling the spread of disinformation on an unprecedented scale. Numerous tactics and techniques, such as Fake News, are employed to seek geopolitical advantages or financial gains. Many studies have focused on the automatic detection of Fake News, particularly using machine learning techniques. However, an informational attack often involves various vectors, targets, authors, and content. Detecting such an attack requires a global analysis of multiple Fake News instances. This research proposal aims to assist specialists, such as intelligence analysts or journalists responsible for combating disinformation, in better characterizing and detecting informational attacks. We propose a framework based on a two-stage approach. The first stage involves extracting valuable knowledge from each Fake News using both Artificial Intelligence and Natural Language processing (NLP) techniques. The second stage entails aggregating the collected information using data analysis methods to facilitate the characterization and identification of disinformation campaigns.

Product teams organized into product areas are becoming more and more prevalent in large-scale agile. While such arrangements are thought to improve the development process and overall product delivery, it is still not clear how this form of organizing alleviates the coordination challenges commonly associated with large-scale agile. In this paper, we report on a case study from a product area in a large FinTech organization. Through analyzing interviews, observations, and strategic documents, we describe how organizing into a product area with vertical and horizontal teams supported inter-team coordination. Further, we describe seventeen coordination mechanisms used in the product area. Our findings have three main contributions. First, we propose that the product area represent a distinct organizational level that can support coordination in large scale development settings. Second, we found that the team types used in the product area represent different team typologies. Third, pull requests and pair programming were used as inter-team coordination mechanisms, and our findings suggest that pair programming to some extent could replace the PR mechanism to further improve product area coordination.

The term crypto-agility means the ability to quickly and securely change cryptographic algorithms and related data, in the case of their compromise. In this context, the advent of quantum computing constitutes a new paradigm, which poses existential threats to current cryptographic algorithms. Even if these attacks are not an imminent danger, we must be prepared to change the cryptographic algorithms at risk with new, quantum resistant ones. This is by no means an easy task, because cryptographic algorithms are used everywhere and are often also implemented on the hardware. In this paper, we analyze the similarities and the differences between traditional agility and crypto-agility, and investigate the prospects of using agile and lean practices in the context of crypto-agility to introduce quantum resistant algorithms. In particular, for the main agile and lean practices we discuss if and how they can be useful for obtaining crypto-agility. We also investigate how the features key to crypto-agility can be helped by the agile and lean approach.

In business Process Management (BPM) the integration of advanced recommender systems emerges as a critical strategy to enhance process efficiency and user satisfaction. Despite the dissemination of these systems, there remains a distinct lack of incorporating execution relevant context data, particularly those generated during process execution and prevailing environmental conditions. This paper addresses this gap by proposing process-specific extensions for augmenting an existing recommender system framework. Our approach not only enhances the adaptability and accuracy of recommendations but also sustains the applicability of existing algorithms, ensuring seamless integration into available recommender frameworks. The potential of this refined approach is demonstrated by evaluating a process scenario based on synthetic data.

Most predictive process monitoring approaches rely on machine learning techniques. These approaches predict, e.g., the outcome of a process case. As widely known, many machine learning techniques do not inherently provide insights in a useful format for business process experts to interpret the provided predictions and understand the logic used to derive such predictions. Recently, we proposed VisInter4PPM, a business-oriented approach to visually support interpretability in predictive process monitoring. In this paper, we apply VisInter4PPM to a loan request business process, whose behavior is represented in a real-world event log of a financial institution. This is a multiclass prediction problem where requests can be approved, declined, or cancelled. VisInter4PPM relies on the results of the SP-LIME interpreter to generate explanations about the influence of each business process activity on the case outcome. Thus, the SP-LIME results are visually projected onto a BPMN process model. The resulting process map shows which activities contribute to the predicted outcome and to what extent.

Process discovery aims to discover descriptive process models from event logs. These discovered process models depict the actual execution of a process and serve as a foundational element for conformance checking, performance analyses, and many other applications. While most of the current process discovery algorithms primarily rely on a single event log for model discovery, additional sources of information, such as process documentation and domain experts' knowledge, remain untapped. This valuable information is often overlooked in traditional process discovery approaches. In this paper, we propose a discovery technique incorporating such knowledge in a novel inductive mining approach. This method takes a set of user-defined or discovered rules as input and utilizes them to discover enhanced process models. Our proposed framework has been implemented and tested using several publicly available real-life event logs. Furthermore, to showcase the framework's effectiveness in a practical setting, we conducted a case study in collaboration with UWV, the Dutch employee insurance agency.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there was a massive migration from working in the office to working from home (WFH) and the software development teams had to adapt to the new reality. This paper focused on how the agile teams dealt with the challenges of WFH, face-to-face or hybrid during and after the Covid-19 pandemic and how this affected the software development process. To capture the perceptions of the agile teams, we carried out a survey that investigated the following aspects of WFH: work routine, collaboration, communication, productivity, transparency, challenges, and the software development process itself. The survey received 127 valid responses from agile team members and the results revealed that work continued normally during the pandemic, and there was a perception of increased effectiveness in productivity, communication, and interaction. To identify how agile teams adapted to post-pandemic hybrid work, we conducted a focus group to identify whether the changes implemented during the pandemic continued, which phases were most impacted, and which problems and practices were identified. The results showed that the most impacted phases of software development during and after the pandemic were Requirements Elicitation, Software Construction, and Project Management. Daily meeting was one of the most used practices during and after the pandemic. Clickup, Teams, E-mail, Whatsapp, Jira, Slack, and Google Meet tools were used during the pandemic and are still used to support hybrid work.

In a clinical setting, physicians often need to tailor general clinical guidelines to match the specific characteristics of individual patients, resulting in deviations from the guidelines. Process mining provides a range of tools to evaluate how well patient pathways align with clinical guidelines. In this work we implement a novel conformance checking method that employs error-correcting techniques to provide a degree of deviation from the clinical guidelines. The described method allows the set of corrective actions to be defined interactively and the cost of each of them to be adjusted on the basis of clinical knowledge. We test the error-correction algorithm on a real-world cohort of locally advanced rectal cancer patients treated at Fondazione Policlinico Universitario A. Gemelli IRCCS to assess the degree of compliance to the European Society of Medical Oncology guidelines, translated into a computer-interpretable version with Pseudo-Workflow formalism. Using this approach, it is possible to extensively analyze the compliance of clinical treatments, from the control-flow to the data perspective, and to discover the most common types of deviations in our cohort.

Ontology-driven conceptual models play an explanatory role in complex and critical domains. However, since those models may consist of a large number of elements, including concepts, relations and sub-diagrams, their reuse or adaptation requires significant efforts. While conceptual model engineers tend to be biased against the removal of information from the models, general users struggle to fully understand them. The paper describes ExpO-a prototype that addresses this tradeoff by providing three components: (1) an API that implements model transformations, (2) a software plugin aimed at modelers working with the language OntoUML, and (3) a web application for model exploration mostly designed for domain experts. We describe characteristics of every component and specify scenarios of possible usages.

Given the synergy between Large Language Models (LLMs) and Knowledge Graphs (KGs), we introduce a pipeline to tackle complex linguistic tasks, which we are experimenting in the legal domain. While LLMs offer unprecedented generative capabilities, their reliance on sub-symbolic processing can lead to fallacious outcomes. Our methodology introduces an advanced Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) pipeline, enriched with two KGs and optimized LLMs, promising to enhance the resolution of complex linguistic tasks. Through KG construction based on prompt engineering techniques and iterative fine-tuning, we transcend the limitations of conventional LLMs.
