The rise of mass-individualization has underscored the significance of Mixed-Model Assembly Lines (MMALs) for producing diverse products on the same line. The Car Sequencing Problem (CSP) tackles short-term balancing in an MMAL by emphasizing the use of spacing rules to manage the space between each pair of work-intensive products that possess specific characteristics. In this study, we tackle two challenges within the CSP context. The first challenge involves exploring CSP with cross-ratio constraints that takes into account the dependency between different characteristics. As the second challenge, we study the CSP under two states where spacing rule violations are not allowed (hard) and allowed (soft). We develop two constraint programming models for the mentioned states and evaluate the performance of the models using several real-world assembly lines' instances. The findings enhance understanding of each model's strengths and weaknesses. Given the inherent complexity of real-world problems, the soft model may find more practical and effective application. This research enriches the realm of problem-solving in MMALs by offering valuable insights and introducing the main challenges in the CSP.

The importance of multi-criteria group decision-making techniques in today's complex decision-making environment is undeniable. In complex decision problems, the determination of criteria weights is often subject to both DM-related uncertainty and external event-related uncertainty. The Fuzzy Best-Worst Method (FBWM), as a widely applied MCDM technique based on pairwise comparisons under the fuzzy environment, has been recognized for its systematic expert data collection process, reduced pairwise comparison steps, and high result consistency. Considering the impact of future events on current decision criteria is also necessary in practice. The concept of stratification (CST) provides a fresh perspective on the stratified decision-making process in the MCDM domain. However, the integration of CST with MCDM methods is still in its infancy. Specifically, there is a lack of exploration in the implementation process of FBWM under CST in a group decision-making environment. To address this gap, this study proposes a stratified fuzzy best-worst group decision-making framework. This study aims to promote human-centric decision-making by incorporating advanced decision-making techniques to facilitate efficient decision implementation. An illustrative numerical example is provided in this paper to demonstrate the applicability of the proposed framework.

Dynamic controllability is currently regarded as the most adequate notion for checking the temporal correctness of business processes with temporal constraints when a process model includes uncontrollable activities whose duration is revealed at the time of activity completion. However, dynamic controllability cannot take advantage when an actual duration is revealed earlier, leading to unnecessary strict checks for temporal correctness. We propose a novel notion of agile controllability, which takes into account that uncontrollable durations are revealed earlier and that in a viable execution strategy, a time point may depend on time points whose value is known earlier. We formalize the notion of agile controllability and present an effective checking procedure evaluated by a software implementation within a publicly available modeling and checking software tool.

The information technology (IT) market occupies a significant place in the world's economy and in times of rapid digitalization will only continue to increase its influence. Under conditions of environment's increased functioning entropy caused by crises or military conflicts, the importance of IT industry's stable functioning can't be overstated. This paper considers the possibility of fuzzy decision support systems (DSS) efficient usage to forecast and predict the dynamics of IT industry functioning at a scope of a single country, using Ukraine's IT industry as an example. The software platform used for demonstration purposes is the authentically designed fuzzy DSS FuzzyKIDE. The mathematical basis of platform's functioning is fuzzy logic, which makes it possible to take into account the influences of a set of factors of different nature and obtain a reasonable assessment with potentially inaccurate information. The structure of DSS is offered, using a combined model of the semantic network and fuzzy implication rules. Fuzzy rules are based on predetermined relationships between key influence factors, the analysis of which is offered as well. The use of the DSS is aimed at forming a holistic forecast of IT industry development. The operation of the DSS is demonstrated on the example of Ukraine's IT industry functioning in different points in time. Comparing the conclusions of the DSS with the historical statistical data of Ukraine's IT industry functioning proves the feasibility of fuzzy DSS usage.

This position paper explores applying the Data, information, Knowledge, Wisdom (DIKW) framework to Digital Twins of buildings and their energy systems. TheDIKWframework provides a basis for applying hybrid artificial intelligence (AI) by illustrating where symbolic elements, such as knowledge graphs and sub-symbolic, ML-based approaches, are combined to represent the behavior of complex systems to support decision-making. Several established processes and technologies (BIM, BMS, EMS) are also used in the built environment that often operate in isolation and would benefit from modularization and interconnectivity. Adherence to the DIKW could provide a basis for evaluating interoperability by identifying the data requirements and outputs of each process and technology that work with the data.

Knowledge-intensive processes represent a particularly challenging scenario for process mining. The flexibility that such processes allow constitutes a hurdle as it is hard to capture in a single model. To tackle this problem, multiple visual representations of the same processes could be beneficial, each addressing different information dimensions according to the specific needs and background knowledge of the concrete process workers and stakeholders. In this idea paper, we propose a novel framework leveraging visual analytics for the interactive visualization of multi-faceted process information, aimed at easing the investigation tasks of users in their process analysis tasks. This is primarily achieved by an interconnection of multiple visual layers, which allow our framework to display process information under different perspectives and to project these perspectives onto a domain-friendly representation of the context in which the process unfolds. We demonstrate the feasibility of the framework through its application in two use-case scenarios in the context of healthcare and personal information management.

An agile organization adapts what they are building to match their customer's evolving needs. Agile teams also adapt to changes in their organization's work environment. The latest change is the evolving environment of "hybrid" work - a mix of in-person and virtual staff. Team members might sometimes work together in the office, work from home, or work in other locations, and they may struggle to sustain a high level of collaboration and innovation. It isn't just pandemic social distancing - many of us want to work from home to eliminate our commute and spend more time with family. Are there learnings and best practices that organizations can use to become and stay effective in a hybrid world? An XP 2022 panel organized by Steven Fraser (Innoxec) discussed these questions in June 2022. The panel was facilitated by Hendrik Esser (Ericsson) and featured Alistair Cockburn (Heart of Agile), Sandy Mamoli (Nomad8), Nils BredeMoe (SINTEF), Jaana Nyfjord (Spotify), and Darja Smite (Blekinge Institute of Technology).

Industrial-grade games, like Space Engineers, must adopt swift development and testing processes to conform to rigorous quality standards. Nevertheless, the testing phase of these extensive and complex games heavily relies on manual effort from play-testers, leading to productivity constraints during development cycles. This experience paper reports a Behavior-Driven-Development (BDD) software development process for automated regression test scenarios that allows complement testers' work during development cycles. To enable BDD test scripts for the Space Engineers game, we have extended the iv4XR framework into a game plugin to connect and execute game actions. Additionally, we have integrated the Cucumber software to describe game test scenarios using natural language. This approach allows testers to create, maintain, and execute a subset of regression test scenarios by relying on a BDD agent that can autonomously verify Space Engineers game features, enabling seamless integration into the development cycle.

Topic Modeling of legal texts is a challenging task because of its complicated language structures, and technical features. Recently, there has been a big boost in the number of legislative documents, which makes it very difficult for law experts to keep up with legislation like implementing acts and analyzing cases. The importance of topics is affected by the processing and the presentation of law texts in some contexts. The aim of this work is to figure out the legal opinions from cases seen by the supreme court of the United States and the legal judgments from cases seen by the supreme court of India. In this study we used different Language Models to create sentence embeddings from those legal texts datasets. This paper employs BERTopic technique and a baseline approach in order to discover significant topics from legal opinions and legal judgment.

The advent of increasingly powerful language models has raised expectations for conversational interactions. However, controlling these models is a challenge, emphasizing the need to be able to investigate the feasibility and value of their application. We present PROMISE (Available at: https://***/zhaw-iwi/promise), a framework that facilitates the development of complex conversational interactions with information systems. Its use of state machine modeling concepts enables model-driven, dynamic prompt orchestration across hierarchically nested states and transitions. This improves the control of language models' behavior and thus enables their effective and efficient use. We show the applications of PROMISE in health information systems and demonstrate its ability to handle complex interactions.
