Economic crises repeatedly appear in market-based economies and have serious consequences on them. They are causing serious decreases of the sales revenue and therefor the financial resources of organizations, as well as of their operations and investments. However, they can have some positive effects as well, leading to processes' rationalizations in important functions of them, improvements of their efficiency and better exploitation of their resources. In this paper we investigate the effects of the strong economic crisis that hit Greece between 2010-2018 on the digitization of one of the most important and costly domains of government activity: the social security. It has been concluded that during the economic crisis period there has been a large decrease of the ICT-related investment and operating expenses;however due to some improvement and rationalization of ICT-related processes and practices, as well as a better utilization of knowledgeable ICT personnel (mainly of the central 'Electronic Government Center for Social Security'), a significant increase in the digitalization of the Greek Social Security has been achieved during this difficult period.

Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) reduce a person's mobility and are a worldwide problem. The optimal care for MSDs implies that various healthcare providers, such as hospitals and physiotherapists, collaborate. Moreover, in order to shape the optimal care for MSD patients, their medical and personal background should be considered. Research has shown that care consumption can differ among patients depending on their socio-economic status. In order to explore the influence of the socioeconomic status of patients on their MSD treatment trajectory, data from the Beweeghuis care network for MSDs is analyzed using process mining. The exploratory process mining analysis only highlights minor differences between socio-economic status groups. The findings need to be reflected against the prevailing data-related limitations, showing the clear need for follow-up research.

This research-in-progress paper presents a quasi-experiment in which three different ChatGPT-4 prompts (for system structure, analysis, and recommendations) are applied in standard or augmented form to the work system in each of three case studies (automated warehouses, ride hailing platforms, and medication administration systems). The augmented forms (treatments) are based on different sets of ideas. Each case study comprises 3000+ words. The prompts are detailed requests for responses of up to 500 words related to three steps (system structure, analysis, and recommendations) related to those cases. A null treatment serving as a quasi-control uses standard prompts for each case without augmentation. The first actual treatment is a revision of an analysis template used byMBAandEMBA students;the other six are sets of questions based on activity theory, a BPM design space, system principles, and three other approaches The research questions are whether ChatGPT-4 can produce a useful first cut at system structure, analysis, and recommendations and whether various augmentations of ChatGPT-4 prompts improve or extend the outputs significantly.

In the automotive service and spare parts distribution sector, effective supply chain management is paramount as it directly impacts customer satisfaction, profits, and overall competitiveness. To optimize these crucial aspects, a robust fuzzy logic framework has been developed, taking into account the intricate connections between customer demand, customer sentiment, product availability, and pricing strategy. This study focuses on after-sales services provided by Moroccan automobile companies, utilizing workshop entry data from Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems across multiple cities in the country. To accurately capture customer sentiment, a Bidirectional Long Short-Term Memory (BiLSTM) with attention model, a deep learning strategy, is employed to complete any missing customer sentiment data. Leveraging the power of neural networks, this approach effectively analyzes and predicts sentiment patterns. Once the sentiment data is completed, a Fuzzy Logic model is utilized to determine the most optimal pricing strategy. By considering various factors through fuzzy sets and rules, this model allows informed decision-making to strike the right balance between profitability and customer satisfaction. The employed models demonstrated strong performance, as evidenced by metrics such as MSE and R2. Specifically, the BiLSTM-attention model achieved an R2 of 0.87, while the fuzzy logic model registered an impressive R2 of 0.91. Furthermore, when juxtaposed with alternative models, our framework's superior efficacy became evident.

In Agile software development, user stories play a vital role in capturing and conveying end-user needs, prioritizing features, and facilitating communication and collaboration within development teams. However, automated methods for evaluating user stories require training in NLP tools and can be time-consuming to develop and integrate. This study explores using ChatGPT for user story quality evaluation and compares its performance with an existing benchmark. Our study shows that ChatGPT's evaluation aligns well with human evaluation, and we propose a "best of three" strategy to improve its output stability. We also discuss the concept of trustworthiness in AI and its implications for non-experts using ChatGPT's unprocessed outputs. Our research contributes to understanding the reliability and applicability of Generative AI in user story evaluation and offers recommendations for future research.

This paper examines the role of the enterprise social networking (ESN) tool Slack in the daily work of software practitioners within NAV, a large-scale agile public sector organization. Based on 13 interviews with NAV developers, our case study explores how Slack is employed for knowledge sharing and daily communication across the organization. We used a newly developed framework for communication in agile teams as a theoretical lens. Through our analysis, we found that Slack use had become deeply integrated into the organizational culture and fostered alignment in three main ways: Promoting communication transparency through open discussions visible for developers organization-wide, enhancing communication quality with prompt responses and constant communication, and encouraging communication discipline through structured channels and threads. This study also unveiled some challenges, such as information overload and hindered focus. However, our findings suggest that if common hurdles are overcome, modern ESN tools can reshape how cross-organizational communication plays out in large-scale agile, reinforcing the agile principles of collaboration and motivated individuals.

[Context] To assess the sustainability performance of companies, diverse environmental, social and governance accounting (ESGA) methods exist, each with their own set of topics and indicators. In earlier research, we have shown that several ESGA methods contain overlapping indicators. [Aim] We aim to develop a semi-automated approach for identifying the overlap between ESGA methods, and then merging the methods into a single combined method that has no redundant indicators. [Method] We have approached this goal as a model management challenge. We have surveyed companies to formulate the problem statement, conducted a literature study on modelmanagement operations, created ESGA method models according to our openESEA domain-specific language, and developed algorithms that leverage the power of language models to match and merge the methods. Thematching threshold is determined by performing an experiment with 16 experts. Lastly, we validate our algorithms by merging 4 real-life ESGA methods. [Result] The algorithm has proven capable of successfully identifying overlap between ESGA methods. While we would prefer to further reduce the number of false positives, the results already provide valuable insights into the optimisation of sustainability accounting. Moreover, our findings demonstrate how language models can be used for model management.

The global shortage of highly skilled employees has created a need for a more efficient onboarding process in software development companies. The experienced onboarding efficiency affects the new employee's willingness to stay within the company and the efficiency of their work. Our case company transferred to a team-based organization structure, where agile teams were given high autonomy. Supervisor responsibilities were divided among different roles, such as people coaches and a lead team. We studied the onboarding process through a survey that was answered by 39 persons, as well as 18 interviews to gather details from the onboarding process. To validate the findings, workshops, and presentations were organized in the case company. We found that mentoring was experienced as the most important form of onboarding in the case company. The biggest challenges were lack of transparency, insufficient material availability, and lack of documentation. As solutions were suggested: a shared repository of onboarding materials, checklists for teams and mentors for onboarding new employees efficiently, and collecting team-specific materials to a single location.

In this paper, we present a novel case study for the application of process mining (PM) on data captured by Internet of Things (IoT) devices. In this case study, IoT sensors in robotic flowers are employed to gather a comprehensive dataset on bee colony behaviour through a series of experiments conducted under various conditions. The primary objective of this paper is to investigate the applicability of PM to analyse the collected sensor data, map bee colony behaviour, and uncover the learning patterns exhibited by the bees during these experiments. Encouraging results have emerged from this research, demonstrating the feasibility of converting the collected sensor data into event logs that can produce insights on bees foraging behaviour using a PMtool. This case study serves as a solid foundation for future research endeavours on the application of PM to similar processes that can be monitored using IoT devices.

The Metaverse holds the promise of profoundly transforming education by reshaping how courses are delivered and how students learn and engage, thanks to the novel possibilities it offers for immersive and interactive learning experiences. This study seeks to pinpoint both the challenges and advantages of integrating the metaverse into education, based on a systematic review of existing literature from both a technological and human viewpoint. It provides an in-depth analysis of not only the benefits of employing the Metaverse in education, but also the obstacles that educational institutions, designers, and implementers encounter when creating or utilizing these digital realms. The study's findings underscore the need to develop and deploy metaverse systems to improve educational methods and maximize learner satisfaction. Furthermore, they will provide researchers with insights to tackle the multifaceted challenges associated with the use of metaverse tools and environments in education.
