Since the emergence of electronic commerce the tourism industry has undergone a substantial transformation. Especially travel agencies that are faced with growing online competition are increasingly dependent on achieving online sales. This study investigates antecedents of consumers' intention to book trips online on travel agencies' websites. The research draws on an integrated research model based on the technology acceptance model and customer satisfaction as introduced in the DeLone and McLean model on information system success. Two alternative models were tested: A parsimonious basic model includes information quality and system quality as object-based beliefs that influence satisfaction as an object-based attitude. The second model is extended and includes a third object-based belief, that is, service quality. Satisfaction is hypothesized to impact perceived usefulness that is a driver of perceived ease of use and online booking intention. Both models were tested with survey data from 292 consumers. The study provides several scholarly and managerial implications for the online distribution of tourism services.

Agile software development has had success in different domains. However there is one area where the implementation of agile methods still needs development - that is in the field of safety critical systems. In this field, the software engineering processes need to be justified against the requirements of software safety assurance standards (such as ISO 26262 in the automotive domain). We describe our ongoing research on assurance case integration with an existing agile development method - SafeScrum.

The present paper reports on the findings of a systematic literature review on multi-channel services. In doing so, it uses an affinity diagram to show the results of a content analysis regarding the issues addressed by the existing literature in the field. This enables to understand areas of interest in the contemporary subject of research, find gaps in the literature and, lastly, to uncover guidelines for future research. The results suggest that future investigations should focus on the integration of traditional and virtual services, on quality issues and customer behaviour towards the use of multi-channel services. Previous research also suggests that multi-channel services are largely unaddressed, regarding issues as back-office processes, within the scope of operations management. Subsequently, since multi-channel services are multidisciplinary in nature, these guidelines represent a fruitful opportunity for future research to involve other disciplines.

Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) deals with information modelling across the entire lifespan of industrial products. The use of computer-based technologies for PLM purposes requires product knowledge to be specified in formal languages, so that the semantics of the modelling elements is explicitly defined in relation to experts' conceptualisations. Ontologies used in PLM contexts are often developed to satisfy specific application requirements, and the meaning of the employed concepts is left unspecified. In this paper, we present a preliminary ontology focused on the notion of product from the engineering design and manufacturing perspectives. Our aim is to contribute at the development of a comprehensive ontological specification of product knowledge for product lifecycle modelling applications.

Recent approaches for managing Enterprise Architecture (EA) models provide technical systems to procure information from existing repositories within the application landscape of an organization. Beyond technical solutions, social factors are of utmost importance to implement a successful EA initiative. Institutional theory has for example been employed to understand crucial factors for realizing EA Management (EAM) benefits through architectural thinking. Yet, it remains unclear how these social factors influence a federated approach for EA model management. Based on a socio-technical systems perspective, we investigate success factors for Federated EA Model Management (FEAMM) by conducting qualitative interviews with industry experts. Our findings suggest that success factors for FEAMM are related to the model sources, modeling instruments, and model integration aspects from a technical perspective as well as to organizational grounding, governance, enforcement, efficiency, goal alignment, and trust from a social perspective.

The success of Groupon creates many followers who attract consumers by providing location-based electronic coupons with big discount. Despite of its great growth rate, there were many complaints from consumers. The purpose of this research is to learn how service quality of vendors (i.e. the websites selling the electronic coupons) and service providers (i.e. the stores where consumers can redeem coupons) interactively affect the intention to repurchase coupons from a vendor or a service provider. The results indicate that service quality of both the vendor and the service provider will affect the intention to repurchase coupons from vendor, but the service provider's service quality has higher effect. It means that if a service provider does not provide good quality, it will affect the sales of the coupon vendor. The service quality of service provider will affect the intention to buy service from the service provider at either the regular price or the coupon price. These findings indicate the coupon vendor should be careful in recruiting service providers.

New drug studies are essential to advance the pharmaceutical industry's ability to fight diseases. These studies are typically performed in four phases. We are interested in "phase 1" clinical trials where the goal is to evaluate the safety of a new drug. Contract research organizations recruit participants for their studies and need to verify electronically certain criteria without revealing the identity of these participants to other organizations. We outline some potential attacks against current identity representation schemes. Afterwards, we present privacy-preserving techniques to represent the identity of a participant in a scheme where operations can be performed efficiently and accurately. Our methods and scheme can also be applied to other domains to preserve an individual's privacy.

information systems and the information enclosed are of significant value and it is indispensable for organizations to ensure their protection. To achieve high security, existing knowledge is available and provides recommendations and guidelines to follow. Due to the large amount of data and the complex dependencies within their structure, it is often challenging to make informed design decisions. This paper proposes a quantitative model that is tailored to the optimal selection of security safeguards from an existing security knowledge base. The input data are extracted from the extensive IT baseline protection catalogues of the German Federal Office for information Security (BSI). The total amount of data include more than 500 threats and 1200 safeguard options. In an application example, we illustrate that an optimal decision can reduce the number of required safeguards substantially while still maintaining a high security level.

Formal verification of business process models can be done through model checking (also known as property checking), where a model checker tool may automatically find violations of properties in a process model. This approach obviously has formal representations as a prerequisite. However, a key challenge for applying this approach in practice is to consistently formalize the process and its properties, which clearly cannot be done automatically. We studied this challenge in a case study of formally verifying an informally given business process against a guideline written like a legal text. Major lessons learned from this case study are that formalizing is key to success and that in its course a semi-formal representation of properties is useful. In the course of such a step-wise and incremental formalization, problems with the given process model have been found already, apart from those found with a model checker tool that used the formal property specification. In total, our approach revealed five problems not found by the official review. In summary, this paper investigates in a case study consistently formalizing a business process and its properties for verification through model checking.

Event data can be found in any information system and provide the starting point for a range of process mining techniques. The widespread availability of large amounts of event data also creates new challenges. Existing process mining techniques are often unable to handle "big event data" adequately. Decomposed process mining aims to solve this problem by decomposing the process mining problem into many smaller problems which can be solved in less time, using less resources, or even in parallel. Many decomposed process mining techniques have been proposed in literature. Analysis shows that even though the decomposition step takes a relatively small amount of time, it is of key importance in finding a high-quality process model and for the computation time required to discover the individual parts. Currently there is no way to assess the quality of a decomposition beforehand. We define three quality notions that can be used to assess a decomposition, before using it to discover a model or check conformance with. We then propose a decomposition approach that uses these notions and is able to find a high-quality decomposition in little time.
