Natural ecology is the unique resource advantage of rural settlements, which has gradually become a symbol of beauty and characteristics different from modern cities. The essence of China's five thousand years of farming ecological culture and the value pursuit of ecological civilization in the new era have natural compatibility. With the development of rural revitalization, the value of ecological landscape has been excavated and developed, which has also changed the spatial pattern between production, life and ecology. The scope of ecological space is expanded, the spatial distribution boundary is gradually blurred and the degree of dilution is increased, and new composite functional spaces appears. By sorting out the logical relationship between Lingnan rural complex ecosystem and multifunctional space, this paper analyzes the relationship between settlement ecology and business type, form and culture based on the current situation, summarizes the distribution characteristics of its spatial functions, and studies the realization path of ecological landscape value and the improvement of rural spatial experience. In the process of ecological landscape value development research, according to the regional characteristics of Lingnan water cultural landscape, focus on the "five senses" experience value of water ecological landscape, evaluate the distribution of water ecological sensitive areas in Lingnan rural, so as to grasp the degree of value development of natural resources, and summarize the impact of water ecology in the process of spatial development of traditional settlements in Lingnan. Finally, from a multi-dimensional perspective, targeted development strategies for the ecological landscape value of settlements were proposed. Adhering to recommended training frequencies can be a challenge for older adults with hypertension. Remote training offers the opportunity to exercise independently, regardless of time and location. The pilot study aimed to test the feasibility of three different exergame prototypes for synchronous collaborative remote training of hypertensive older adults. A total of 12 participants diagnosed with hypertension were tested in two separate living labs using three exergame prototypes: "Workout Group" (WG), "Screen" and "HoloLens". Within WG, the participants were represented as gamified avatars on a screen. In the exergame Screen, the participants could see themselves and the trainer as a point cloud on a screen. In Hololens, the participants saw the trainer directly in front of them as a point cloud via a HoloLens 2 headset. No significant differences in heart rate were found between the three exergame sessions. However, there was a significant increase in heart rate in relation to the resting heart rate in all exergames (p <.001). The participants rated the usability on the system usability scale as good and had a high level of enjoyment in all physical activities. The most gamified exergame, WG, was favored by the older adults with hypertension (n = 9) and would be the most preferred by them in a future home setting (n = 6). The pilot study demonstrated the feasibility of different approaches for designing synchronous collaborative remote training in older adults with Hypertension and provided recommendations for future studies.

The current paper aims at qualifying the distribution of academic papers related to verification and validation of Adaptive Instructional Systems (AIS) and Adaptive software (ASOFT). For the purpose of the literature review, the theme of software verification and validation is divided into three sub-themes: 1) software verification, 2) empirical validation, and 3) model and simulation validation. In order to maintain the paper broad objectives, the approach will apply text mining techniques to analyze the literature. The corpus contained 33 546 documents extracted from Scopus (January 2024) in 5 document sets that were analyzed using TF-IDF vectors to measure cosine similarity between documents. The similarity distributions as well as the statistical tests indicate a difference in attention given to verification and validation issues between publications in AIS and ASOFT. The more important difference between the two sets of documents is the role given to software verification. The stronger emphasis on empirical, and model and simulation validation in the AIS literature points to the high dependency of considering human factors in the success of adaptive instructional systems. In regard to software verification in AIS, the few publications addressing this issue in comparison to publications looking at tutoring software engineering techniques indicate a possible research and practical gap to explore. The brief overview of the extended number of publications in software verification of ASOFT did not provide an immediate and clear set of methods and techniques that could be applied in the context of AIS. A further analysis could look in more depth in the ASOFT literature or at the AI development engineering literature.

Good teaching is fundamentally supported by teachers' situation-specific skills, such as noticing, understanding, and decision-making, enabling educators to adaptively respond to the dynamic and diverse needs of their students. Such skills allow teachers to identify opportune moments, especially with the help of learning analytics, for applying various learning strategies, thereby optimising educational experiences for their students. However, the development of these competencies does not occur in isolation. Teachers require structured support and targeted interventions to cultivate these skills. Our study aims to fill a gap in the existing literature by exploring the development of situation-specific skills within the context of efficient research-based learning strategies. By adopting a technology-supported teacher inquiry process, our research investigates the influence of specific interventions on the evolution of these crucial skills among teachers, as well as the concerns linked to the applied innovation. Through this inquiry, we aim to broaden the understanding of skills development within educational settings and offer practical insights for improving teacher efficiency. Our findings demonstrate a rise in teachers' situation-specific skills, even when the participants are still novices in the teacher inquiry process, the application of research-based learning strategies, and using technology for data collection and informed decision making. The research also underscores the importance of supporting teachers in developing the competencies needed to successfully utilise 'science of learning' strategies and adapt them to classroom situations, contributing to the discourse on promoting technology-enhanced educational practices and outcomes.

In recent years, information and communication technologies (ICTs) have emerged as a pivotal strategic element in public administration, with the objective of addressing societal challenges and creating public value. To achieve success, public entities must make strategic IT decisions that ensure that IT initiatives align with and extend the society's strategy and goals. In this context, Strategic Information Systems (SIS) plays a pivotal role. Nonetheless, the effort in SIS on public administration is not only controversial but also different among public entities. The existing research in this area is scarce and fragmented, requiring not only a critical outlook from an interdisciplinary field of knowledge, but also to explore its intellectual core. Using the systematic literature review (SLR) method, this paper analyzes prior research in SIS on public entities, focusing on each stage of the strategic planning process (determinants, strategic management process and outcomes). Findings reveal the need of holistically examining the SIS process, providing public managers appropriate tools for improving strategic implementation success rate.

Various algorithms are utilized for the purpose of classification, with Decision Trees being one of the most popular. This is due to their easily understandable structure and simple way of operation, which led to their adoption in a variety of applications. However, the usage of Decision Trees often becomes challenging due to the fact that users need to be familiar with Machine Learning, have programming skills or knowledge of specialized scientific software. The present paper aims to address these issues by presenting AutoDTrees, a web-based application that offers the ability to utilize the Decision Trees in a simple and fast way. This can be done through a user-friendly interface, while an opensource Web API is provided for developers. AutoDTrees allows any user to select the preferred dataset and define parameters, in order to build Decision Tree models. Then, the model effectiveness can be evaluated by using the k-fold cross-validation and presenting detailed metrics. Users are then able to save the pre-trained model and reuse it for predicting unclassified instances or visualizing the Decision Tree. AutoDTrees was evaluated in terms of user experience using the System Usability Scale (SUS), with the results indicating that it can be a useful tool for a wide range of users, regardless of their experience level.

This paper presents a tool to build an intermediate representation, Partial DRS, a Language-Independent Partial Discourse Representation Structure (DRS), that can be used to generate SPARQL queries from Natural Language (NL) Questions. The Partial DRS builder consists of two main steps: creating a Universal Dependencies (UD) parse and transforming the UD parse using a set of rules into a graph with discourse referents as edges and syntactic roles as arcs labels. The Partial DRS of a natural language sentence can be interpreted within a target application domain modelled as a domain ontology, enabling the semantic interpretation of the syntactic roles represented by the graph arc labels. The domain ontology uses the annotations on Object and Data Properties, and Classes to represent natural language and domain-dependent information. These annotations include syntactic role preferences and vocabulary. An evaluation of the proposed system is presented, showing very promising results in the specific DBLP domain.

The relationship between decision-making and emotions has been extensively studied in both theoretical and empirical research. Game Theory-based paradigms utilizing socio-economic and trust-based contexts have been established to elicit specific emotional responses in autistic individuals. Serious games, incorporating cohesive storylines and multiple interactions within these contexts, can serve as engaging tools for emotion elicitation in autistic individuals. As autistic adolescents tend to show higher engagement with games, we aimed to investigate applicability in this population. To achieve this, we developed a mobile serious game that combines four socio-economic and trust-based game paradigms, aiming to evoke specific emotions of varying intensities during different interactions. This paper presents the outcomes of a preliminary experiment involving thirteen participants. The results show that the game's designed interactions successfully elicited emotional responses aligning with the expectations derived from literature in non-game applications.

The emerging and rapid progress of esports (competitive computer gaming) currently lacks approaches for ensuring high-quality analytics to augment performance in professional and amateur esports teams. In this paper, we demonstrate the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) techniques in the esports domain, particularly in simulation (sim) racing, for analyzing drivers' behaviour based on telemetry data from race drivers. To achieve this, we used a professional racing simulator to collect a wide range of feature-rich telemetry data from 93 participants through MoTec telemetry software and the ACC sim racing gaming platform. An objective assessment of the characteristics of the driver's behaviour was then obtained through a set of predefined lap-based metrics derived from telemetry data. Additionally, a comparison of driving styles was carried out using machine learning approaches for grouping the acquired laps based on performance (lap time). The findings from our analysis contribute to a better understanding of how elite drivers differ from low skilled drivers based on their telemetry. Furthermore, our findings provide researchers with key metrics to develop more efficient training tools and techniques to improve sim racing performance.

People tend to attribute human traits to non-human entities, such as animals, God or robots. This tendency, referred to as anthropomorphism, is seen as a natural, automatic inclination. Within the framework of Dual Process Theories, some researchers have proposed a model of anthropomorphism that distinguishes between implicit and explicit processes. This model states that implicit anthropomorphism is a result of Type 1, intuitive processing, while explicit anthropomorphism is a result of Type 2, deliberative processing. The results obtained so far seem to corroborate this model. Although perfectly well founded, we believe that this model's clear separation between indirect measures - intended to measure implicit anthropomorphism - and direct measures - intended to measure explicit anthropomorphism - is a questionable premise from both a theoretical and a practical point of view. Contrary to these previous studies, we thus recommend testing the automaticity of anthropomorphism toward robots by manipulating the concurrent cognitive load while participants give their explicit attributions. Our hypotheses are that, since we believe anthropomorphism to be an automatic and implicit process, cognitive load will either (i) lead to an increase of the anthropomorphism attributions or (ii) result in an absence of difference between the different condition of load, proving that Type 2 processes are pointless in the anthropomorphizing course. We discuss and propose a paradigm aimed at testing our hypothesis.
