Mild cognitive impairment (MCI) occurs between the stages of normal aging and dementia and has a high possibility of progressing to Alzheimer's disease. Early and effective intervention or treatment is essential to prevent the progression of MCI to Alzheimer's disease in older adults. Art therapy, as one of the non-pharmacological approaches to creative activities through the medium of art, improves mood, cognition, and performance. Simultaneously, the emergence of digital art therapy has expanded the potential of traditional art therapy by enabling remote participation and enhancing intense sensory stimulation. However, unaddressed questions need to be answered regarding how older adults perceive and adopt digital art therapy and how therapists and designers should develop digital art therapy to meet older adults' needs and preferences. To address these problems, a qualitative study was conducted among older adults over 65 years of age. The participants were asked to report their needs and preferences for digital art therapy. Compared with other participants, participants with MCI showed a lower willingness to use digital art therapy and were more sensitive to technological barriers. However, this study revealed a list of relevant factors that can influence the acceptance of digital art therapy among older Chinese adults with MCI, including control beliefs, attitudinal beliefs, and gerontechnology anxiety. By addressing potential influential factors, the results can help facilitate older adults' acceptance and adoption of digital art therapy and ultimately enhancing older Chinese adults' well-being and quality of life.

The development of ICTs and the increasinglywidespread access to the Internet pose significant challenges tomankind in contemporary society. Although high-tech developments bring positives, such as faster access to a variety of information and easier communication, they also pose the challenge of how certain groups of people can be integrated in the new technological realities, because the lack of digital competences actually isolates them socially. Older people seem to be more vulnerable in this regard, and therefore the topic of their adaptation to the digitalized environment is an important part of the discourse on the overall digital media literacy. This study aims to trace trends in the attitudes of the Bulgarian older persons to the transforming usage of media content and communication technologies. The methodology includes comparative analysis of statistical data (2004-2023) and of conducted two empirical surveys (2019/2023). The research has been developed within the framework of the MEDIADELCOM research project of the Horizon 2020 European Commission program.

With the advancement and increasing accessibility of immersive technologies and metaverses, virtual reality (VR) emerges as a promising educational tool. This study aims to assess student acceptance of VR usage in history of architecture and urbanism classes. The methodology includes the display of a two-minute video that simulates an interactive class, where students, guided by the professor, don HMDs (Head-Mounted Displays) and move into a didactic discussion within a virtual space, interacting through avatars. Following the video, students respond to a questionnaire based on the UTAUT-2 model, designed to measure the acceptance of new information technologies. The results indicate a positive receptivity to VR, highlighting expectations related to academic performance and a significant hedonic motivation. The study provides quantitative evidence that the integration of VR into architecture curricula has the potential to be well received by students, significantly enriching the educational experience.

Mindfulness can be defined relative to mind-wandering, while the former is associated with focused attention and enhanced monitoring of conscious experience, the latter corresponds to a process of distraction. The aim of this human-machine interaction study was to investigate the ocular correlates of the state of mindfulness by comparing it with mind-wandering and resting-state. To this end, experienced meditators and nonmeditators performed a point-fixation task while carrying out three different actions: meditating, reflecting on a philosophical question, and resting. Meditating induced mindfulness, reflecting induced mindwandering, and resting-induced a resting-state. Eye movement recordings revealed a decrease in microsaccade amplitude and velocity during the meditation task, compared with the other two tasks. Participants also blinked more during the reflecting task than during the other two tasks, especially those in the experienced meditator group. These results suggest that microsaccades are indicators of sustained attention, and blinking of distraction, meaning that it may be possible to detect mind-wandering episodes versus states of mindfulness. Detection of this episodes will be used to develop a biofeedback device to learn mindfulness meditation.

This article studies the cooperation of verbal mode and visual mode in science documentaries, and analyzes how the goal of offering science knowledges to the audience with few educational backgrounds in such field can be realized through the cooperation. With the theoretical framework of Systemic Functional Grammar and Visual Grammar, strategies applied to the visual mode for interpreting the transitivity constructed in the verbal mode in the documentary War of the Galaxies are analyzed. In conclusion, the visual mode in War of the Galaxies contributes to maximizing the function of transitivity in this documentary, in terms of giving definitions, displaying discovery results, and making comparisons between different objects in the way that audience are easier to accept. The analysis demonstrates the importance of the cooperation of verbal and visual modes when a science documentary tries to influence the audience's way of thinking. As a result, this article illustrates the importance of cooperating with language and image during the process of public education.

To further the previous research about Tangram and to discover the possibilities of Tangram Blocks, a new versatile model developed from Tangram, this paper will explore and develop Tangram Blocks into an augmented puzzle game based on the methodology of fractals. Fractals could be considered as a reversed process of modeling, which is another playable process combining of science and art. This paper starts from using fractal thinking to analysis Tangram shapes. Then we can composite Tangram patterns using fractal formulas, such as the Pythagoras tree. If 2D Tangram shapes can fit in the concept of fractals well, we will use Tangram Blocks to try to build a fractal Tangram Blocks set. After finishing the prototyping of material objects, we can get a set of extended Tangram Blocks with enough pieces in different scales that can form some typical fractal patterns in three dimensions. To examining the possible and novel variations and extensions of Tangram Blocks in fractals, then we will model it in the virtualworld. There are differentmethods to generative fractal transitions into animation, we will compare the visual effect of each fractal animation and choose the most suitable one to link to the play of Tangram Blocks. Music will also be generated by the fractal method and add on to the animations. How to combine the physical fractal Tangram Blocks set with the virtual fractal audiovisuals is also will be discussed in this paper. From the technical and aesthetic aspects of argument reality, the scan of 3D object, attached sensors on the blocks and the use of Apple Vision Pro glasses or other AR glasses will be experimenting and evaluating. Modeling and fractals may be the two sides of the real world's operation;the augmented Tangram Blocks could open a window to witness this scene.

Due to their remarkable performance, general-purpose multimodal pre-trained language models have gained widespread adoption for Document Understanding tasks. The majority of pre-trained language models rely on serialized text, extracted using either Optical Character Recognition (OCR) or PDF parsing. However, accurately determining the reading order of visually-rich documents (VrDs) is challenging, potentially affecting the accuracy of the extracted text and leading to sub-optimal performance in downstream tasks. For information extraction tasks, where entity recognition is commonly framed as a sequence-labeling task, incorrect reading order can hinder entity labeling. In this work, we avoid reading order issues by discarding sequential position information. Based on the intuition that layout contains the information for correct reading order, we present Layout2Pos - a shallow Transformer designed to generate position embeddings from layout. Incorporated into a BART architecture, our approach demonstrates competitiveness with models dependent on reading order across three benchmark datasets for information extraction. We also show that evaluating models using a reading order different from the one seen during training can result in substantial performance drops, thereby highlighting the importance of not relying on the reading order of documents.

Recognizing and understanding the characteristics of suicidal posts on social media are crucial for early intervention and suicide prevention efforts. This study aims to comprehend various traits associated with suicidal posts on Reddit, a prominent social media platform. By analyzing user posts gathered from the Reddit forum 'r/SuicideWatch', we aim to scrutinize the various emotional and linguistic signals intertwined with suicidal content. Furthermore, we seek to identify some of the key factors contributing to the development of suicidal ideation. Our analysis reveals a substantially higher prevalence of negative emotions, particularly anger and sadness, in suicidal posts. Linguistic analysis uncovers several distinguishing signals associated with suicidal posts, such as a high presence of verbs and a significant frequency of negations. An initial content analysis reveals a diverse array of key factors, including social isolation, health issues, personal failures, and traumatic life events, among others. Overall, our investigation unveils diverse characteristics of suicidal posts and key factors contributing to suicidal ideation that can facilitate the automated detection of suicidal tendencies and support the implementation of effective preventive measures.

We introduce a novel perspective on set-class analysis combining the DFT magnitudes with the music visualisation technique of wavescapes. With such a combination, we create a visual representation of a piece's multidimensional qualia, where different colours indicate saliency in chromaticity, diadicity, triadicity, octatonicity, diatonicity, and whole-tone quality. At the centre of our methods are: 1) the formal definition of the Fourier Qualia Space (FQS), 2) its particular ordering of DFT coefficients that delineate regions linked to different musical aesthetics, and 3) the mapping of such regions into a coloured wavescape. Furthermore, we demonstrate the intrinsic capability of the FQS to express qualia ambiguity and map it into a synopsis wavescape. Finally, we showcase the application of our methods by presenting a few analytical remarks on Bach's Three-part Invention BWV 795, Debussy's Reflets dans l'eau, andWebern's Four Pieces for Violin and Piano, Op. 7, No. 1, unveiling increasingly ambiguous wavescapes.

In the context of Covid-19 pandemic, conducting a user experience evaluation has become more. For example, Heuristic Evaluation, is manual task-dependent, does not have a standardized way, and data processing costs valuable time. This context made heuristic evaluations even more difficult. Without specialized software, the tasks of a heuristic evaluation were manual and processing the final results was a burden to the researchers. There were attempts to standardize this method, for example, the software proposed by Lecaros, A. Another method is Tree Testing, for which Tapia A. proposed software to support the evaluation process. However, both the Tapia, A. software and Lecaros, A. software, were designed specifically for the evaluations they support. These studies served as a base so the authors could propose a software that aids UX enthusiasts conduct Heuristic Evaluations, and other types of usability evaluations, more efficiently. This software, named DUXAIT-NG, supports various evaluations and reduces the time for processing the final results, even when having a large group of participants. The article describes how to conduct a workshop, and what was learned by analyzing the results and experiences of all the participants. This article is organized as follows: the first section, tells the motivations of the study. The second section seeks to clarify theoretical concepts used throughout the article. The third section describes in detail the workshop. The fourth section describes the results of the participant's experience. Finally, the article ends with the conclusions and future work that the authors have planned for DUXAIT-NG.
