This study focuses on the design, development, and evaluation of a virtual reality (VR)-based distance learning application for manual medicine and therapy (MM and MT). Traditional medical education, often lecture-based, faces challenges in the acquisition of practical skills. The rise of digital technology, particularly VR, offers a promising solution for modernizing medical education. VR technologies provide immersive, interactive environments, and the incorporation of haptic interaction, such as data gloves with sensors and actuators, enhances the realistic experience. The study addresses the lack of research in applying VR to MT, a field that relies heavily on tactile and proprioceptive stimulation. The objective is to develop and evaluate a prototype VR application for MM and MT, focusing on cervicothoracic junction (CTJ) mobilization. The study explores the potential effects of VR and the use of data gloves for this specific learning scenario. Materials and methods include ethical considerations, hardware and software details, qualitative interviews, and quantitative prototype usability testing (PUT). The PUT includes questionnaires assessing presence, simulator sickness, system usability, and user experience. The analysis of the results shows positive feedback on the usability of the VR application, the overall presence, and the user experience while acknowledging the need for improvement in certain aspects. The study highlights the potential of VR in health education to provide realistic training experiences without compromising patient safety. The detailed design, development process and evaluation results provide valuable insights into the application of VR in the field of MM and MT, addressing the specific needs of professionals in this field.

This study explores the use of Generative AI, particularly large language models such as ChatGPT, in promoting self-directed learning among beginners in programming and data analysis, in the study structured prompts were employed as a key tool to enhance educational engagement and skill acquisition. To study the impact, Engineering students participated in a controlled environment where they utilized these prompts in conjunction with Generative AI to tackle programming-based data analysis tasks independently. We measured the impact of this method by comparing pre-test and post-test scores, which showed a significant improvement, indicating its effectiveness. Moreover, 45% of novice participants completed all assigned tasks. We also conducted semi-structured interviews and analyzed participant responses to understand the role of prompt engineering in self-directed learning. The analysis revealed that structured prompts and Generative AI motivate students and empower them to learn independently.

In recent years, with the epoch-making development of artificial intelligence (AI) technology, new media visual arts have been profoundly influenced in terms of creative ideas, production processes, and the final presentation of works. The question of whether AI can replace creators in image design has become a hot topic of discussion. Concurrently, as a significant form of new media visual arts, virtual reality (VR) imagery has undergone iterative development in production standards and product applications. In many VR image works and applications, we can observe the impact and changes brought about by the development of AI technology. This paper starts from the development and application of AI and VR imaging technology, analyze the integration of these two technologies, and present its own perspective on the creation of VR imagery in the era of AI.

This paper delves into the intricate nexus of kitchen design and the unique characteristics of Chinese Generation Z, a cohort immersed in digital technologies. Building upon prior research, the study scrutinizes the applicability of existing user research methods in shaping kitchen appliance innovations tailored to the Chinese Generation Z. Through triangulating the methods of questionnaire, in-depth interview, and behavioral observation, this research identified distinct lifestyle archetypes within this demographic. These included the 'social cooking group', 'extreme dual-sided lifestyle group', 'high-quality and efficient lifestyle group' and 'health-conscious and sustainable lifestyle group'. Each group exhibited varied preferences and behaviors, posing challenges and opportunities for appliance design. Leveraging the Kano analysis method, the study prioritized the determining factors for user satisfaction. This led to the creation of a new design research model, specifically for the Chinese Generation Z. This model served as a blueprint for future kitchen appliance innovations, aiming to bridge the gap between user expectations and product performance.

Elements of a Vocal Gesture Theory, previously developed as an abstract approximation, have served as the basis for the present work in which the theoretical aspect of this development is refined to accommodate concrete realities that the singer confronts. In particular, the connection between musical thinking (symbolic gestures) and performance (concrete gestures) can be described by a mathematical approach. On the one hand, singers have to imagine the vocal effect they wish to obtain, and, on the other hand, they must carry out concrete physical inner movements of their larynx, vocal folds, etc., to achieve the desired effect. Mathematical Gesture Theory can provide a framework to help understand how such imaginary and embodied movements relate one to another, as well as how they are connected in the practice of singing. Additionally, voice pedagogy, in general, is tremendously subjective and, as in all creative processes, what works for one singer does not necessarily function for another. We hope to offer a very broad and flexible framework in which the essence of the relation between symbolic and physical gestures is captured and allows for multiple concrete models. We also offer some very basic experimental evidence as proof of concept of this emerging Vocal Gesture Theory, considering an application to Italian belcanto, with the analysis of the head voice and the chest voice in a Verdi's aria.

The current European data strategy foresees a novel ecosystem of data sharing and data trading among public and private sector organizations in the EU member states. The focus is on enabling and fostering data sharing among the stakeholders while maintaining compliance with existing EU and national data protection legislation, such as the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). However, managing data sharing in such a compliant manner requires additional metadata to be exchanged amongst the actors in this ecosystem. Therefore, this paper proposes a novel data model for managing data sharing activities. This model takes current and planned regulations (e.g., the Data Governance Act) and the resulting data ecosystem architectures (e.g. data intermediaries) into account and is applicable to different actions that are necessary for compliant data exchange, like data subject rights requests or intellectual property enforcement.

This paper proposed a comprehensive mixed-methods framework with varied samples of older adults, including user experience, usability assessments, and in-depth interviews with the integration of Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI) methods. The experience of older adults' interactionwith the E-health interface is collected through interviews and transformed into operatable databases whereas XAI methods are utilized to explain the collected interview results in this research work. The results show that XAI-infused e-health interfaces could play an important role in bridging the age-related digital divide by investigating elders' preferences when interacting with E-health interfaces. Furthermore, the study identifies important design factors, such as intuitive visualization and straightforward explanations, that are critical for creating efficient Human-computer Interaction (HCI) tools among older users. Furthermore, this study emphasizes the revolutionary potential of XAI in e-health interfaces for older users, emphasizing the importance of transparency and understandability in HCI-driven healthcare solutions. This study's findings have far-reaching implications for the design and development of user-centric e-health technologies, intending to increase the overall well-being of older adults.

Many social media platforms promote political polarization by creating online echo chambers where people are only exposed to information confirming their beliefs. Newer systems such as Polis and Kialo aim to foster constructive conversations and teach critical reasoning skills. However, these platforms rely heavily on human moderators to manage discussions effectively. This paper examines the effectiveness of large language models (LLMs) as moderators on Polis, an open-source, real-time system designed for democratic discourse. We evaluate the F1 score of various prompting techniques at classifying five Polis datasets labeled by human moderators. Our findings indicate that LLMs are robust to different prompting strategies and produce minimal false positives. While LLMs come with certain risks, we argue that they can be valuable tools to support human moderators, enabling broader participation in democratic discourse.

The COVID-19 outbreak has forced most schools to close and shifted everything online overnight. Would the long-standing ICT-related issues have been resolved? After a year of post-pandemic normality, this study looked into the use of ICT in preschool teaching. This study used an online open-ended questionnaire to interview current preschool teachers. Fifty-one completed questionnaires were returned within four weeks. The content analysis of the open-ended replies revealed the findings in the current practice of utilising ICT in teaching, as well as the perceived benefits, barriers, and expected support for using ICT. The study concluded that the difficulties still exist. Teachers, school administrators, and policymakers can use the data to develop effective strategies for integrating ICT into teaching.

In this study, we investigated the aspects that motivate pre-service teachers to implement Learning Analytics (LA) in their future pedagogical practices. We explored the role of instructional design based on the ICAP framework, the influence of teachers' existing knowledge about LA and their engagement levels in predicting their readiness to adopt LA-enhanced methods. In addition to testing pre-post effects of the course, we also explored the specific effects of different course elements on their intention to adopt. Drawing on pre- and post and process measures throughout the course, we found that our training course designed for pre-service teachers notably influenced their intentions to implement LA. The application of the ICAP framework to learning episodes fostered pre-service teachers' active engagement and knowledge acquisition. Our analysis further determined that while different tasks variably affected motivational factors and intended adoption, a strong domain knowledge in LA emerged as a critical predictor of pre-service teachers' readiness to incorporate LA into their future teaching.
