Individuals born between 1995 and 2009 are referred to as the Generation Z population, characterized by their pursuit of pleasure, innovation, and interaction. As the driving force behind automotive purchases in the next two to three decades, the automotive industry needs to understand their core requirements for in-car intelligent assistants. In this study, we collaborated with Porsche, a brand synonymous with luxury, hedonism, and excitement, to complete three task design briefs based on different user groups. Throughout the model development process, we employed evaluationmethods such as heuristic assessment, user testing, and expert reviews, ensuring our models provide personalized services for specific demographics. This not only enhances the driving experience by making it more intelligent, enjoyable, and comfortable but also aligns with the growing expectations of the Generation Z population towards automotive technology. This collaboration offers valuable insights for the future development of the automotive industry, enabling it to better adapt to the digital age and meet the evolving needs of users.

Large displays offer enhanced information presentation, enriching the immersive interactive experience;however, their physical distance from users poses usability problems for human-computer interaction. In order to improve interaction experience and task performance on large displays, this study incorporates voice input technology and somatosensory input technology. Subsequently, an evaluation is conducted on the usability of voice interaction and somatosensory + voice interaction, focusing on the task of screen content switching. The results suggest that under ideal circumstances, the incorporation of somatosensory interaction significantly enhances the performance of switching screen content. Nevertheless, due to somatosensory technology recognition's instability and the switching costs between voice and somatosensory interaction, the amalgamation of somatosensory interaction and voice interaction fails to effectively improve interactive performance in content-switching tasks. Ultimately, voice interaction emerges as the more suitable choice for large display screen content-switching tasks.

The article describes the development of a prototype for an enabling digital platform through a research through design process. The platform serves as an idea bank, triggering social innovation projects in an inland Portuguese territory facing population decline. Employing a design for social innovation approach, by recombining existing resources, it aims to act as a hub to connect locals, stakeholders, and other interested communities in locally implemented projects, generating sustainable and innovative solutions for mutual benefits. The platform aims to foster dialogue around shared interests, catalyzing place-making, community activation, and triggering communities of action to implement transformative social innovation projects for the territory. Various interaction design methods, such as wireframing, user-journey mapping, and formative testing, were used during this research. As part of a broader ecosystem to drive design-led social innovation initiatives, the platform was evaluated by experts and achieved positive results in articulating various crucial dimensions for the territory. The Topia Digital Platform asserts itself as an artefact of interaction design and a vehicle for design for social innovation.

The study reported in this paper investigated the effects of mobile-mediated dynamic assessment (DA) during text and audio chat on learning well-formed and appropriate requests by second language (L2) learners. The participants included Sixty-seven English as a Foreign Language (EFL) learners who were randomly assigned into one control and two experimental WhatsApp groups. The participants in the two experimental groups participated in three mobile-mediated DA sessions and received mediation for their errors in formulating requests either through text or audio chat depending on their group designation. A discourse completion task and a pragmatic judgement test, administered as pretest, post-test and delayed post-test were utilized to measure the impacts of the treatment sessions on L2 development. The results revealed that both audio-based and text-based DA were effective for promoting learners' knowledge of well-formed and appropriate requests. Moreover, the findings indicated that text-based DA has an edge over audio-based DA for promoting learners' development.

Inspired by the success of organisations in the private sector, public organisations turned to customer relationship management (CRM) tools to learn about various citizen groups and their particular needs. Recently, AI-driven CRM (also referred to as AI-CRM) has increasingly gained recognition as a revolutionary solution for improving the relationship between organisations and their customers-by automating routines, improving segmentation and prioritisation, providing virtual assistance, and guiding employees. However, various challenges were found to hinder the adoption of the technology and the realisation of the anticipated benefits of AI-CRM in the public sector. This study explores AI-CRM adoption and integration with existing systems at the Ministry of Labour of Israel. Based on the review of the extant literature and in-depth interviews with selected experts in various units, we present the expected results and contributions of the ongoing study.

Artificial intelligence (AI) technologies can promote significant changes in various areas of society, and in particular, in the field of education. The purpose of this study is to examine the digital competences students need to develop in order to use generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) tools for learning purposes. We conducted 34 semi-structured interviews with 17 secondary school teachers in an interval of half a year, and triangulated these self-report data with an analysis of actual learning activities. During the interviews, the participants reported the digital competences their students develop using GenAI tools, and the skills they should practice. The digital competences were analyzed based on the Digital Competence Framework for Citizens 2.2 (DigComp 2.2) [8] that includes five main areas: Information and data literacy;Communication and collaboration;Digital content creation;Safety;and Problem solving. Despite DigComp 2.2's comprehensiveness, its pre-GenAI era foundation necessitates updates to fully address competences needed for GenAI use. The study findings indicate that the utilization of GenAI tools requires proficiency in all DigComp 2.2 domains. Importantly, employing GenAI tools calls for the expansion regarding the ability to analyze the pros and cons of AI tools, and the user's ability to choose GenAI tools that are appropriate for a given task. The findings suggest refining the framework's explanation regarding prompt-writing skills and adding the skill of managing ongoing dialogue with GenAI tools. Expanding the DigComp 2.2 framework would offer a better reflection on the current integration of GenAI tools in education.

The activity of open parliamentary debate is a crucial part of democratic government. Previous studies have shown that women face barriers that make them use less speaking time compared to men. In addition, women are, according to previous research, more biased towards engaging in soft topics, such as culture and care in comparison to hard topics such as economy and infrastructure. During the COVID-19 pandemic over half of the world's national parliaments shifted to a virtual format that lasted throughout the pandemic. Emerging research on the transformation from face-to-face/onsite meetings to virtual/online meetings in society highlights radical changes to the meeting environment and meeting dynamics. This paper explores how women's speaking time changed in online council meetings in Sweden after the temporary shift from their previous onsite format. Using video analysis of recorded meetings and a novel method of measuring speaking time, this paper compares onsite council meetings with their online counterpart in three different councils. The findings suggest that the gender distribution of speaking time between soft and hard topics became more even in the virtual meetings compared to onsite parliamentary meetings. In addition, there was a more even distribution of speaking time between men and women in the online meetings compared to their onsite counterpart. The findings contribute to the understanding of how the transformation from onsite to virtual meetings impact the distribution of speaking time betweenmen and women. However, more research is needed on underlying mechanisms of how speaking time is impacted when transitioning from onsite to online meetings.

In the dynamic landscape of digital media, YouTube Shorts have emerged as a popular format, captivating users with their brief and engaging content. However, the recommendation algorithms driving these videos often exhibit biases that influence which thumbnails are prominently displayed. This study delves into the biases present in YouTube's recommendation algorithms, focusing on the thumbnails of YouTube Shorts, which play a crucial role in attracting viewers. Thumbnails, as powerful visual elements, significantly impact user decisions and engagement. By utilizing advanced topic modeling and content generation techniques, we analyzed a substantial dataset of YouTube Shorts' thumbnails. Our analysis, employing generative AI and BERTopic models, reveals notable shifts in topic distribution across recommendation cycles, it highlights a preference for certain types of content. These biases not only affect content visibility but also steer user engagement towards popular, yet potentially less diverse, topics. The findings of this study enhance the understanding of algorithmic biases in digital platforms and aim to promote more equitable and transparent content recommendation practices.

The proliferation of Decentralised Finance (DeFi) and Decentralised Autonomous Organisations (DAO), which in current form are exposed to front-running of token transactions and proposal voting, demonstrate the need to shield user inputs and internal state from the parties executing smart contracts. In this work we present "Eagle", an efficient UC-secure protocol which efficiently realises a notion of privacy preserving smart contracts where both the amounts of tokens and the auxiliary data given as input to a contract are kept private from all parties but the one providing the input. Prior proposals realizing privacy preserving smart contracts on public, permissionless blockchains generally offer a limited contract functionality or require a trusted third party to manage private inputs and state. We achieve our results through a combination of secure multi-party computation (MPC) and zero-knowledge proofs on Pedersen commitments. Although other approaches leverage MPC in this setting, these incur impractical computational overheads by requiring the computation of cryptographic primitives within MPC. Our solution achieves security without the need of any cryptographic primitives to be computed inside the MPC instance and only require a constant amount of exponentiations per client input.

Due to the vast number of makeup videos online, finding a suitable one is challenging. To develop a makeup video recommendation service, we must establish a method for calculating the similarities between the makeup process. This paper proposes a Make-up FLOW system, which represents makeup procedures using a flowchart style structure. We evaluated its effectiveness in recommending videos from 103 tutorial videos based on process similarities. The findings showed a weak correlation using the Levenshtein distance in the first half of the process, suggesting that the process similarity may help recommend multiple information and sort search results.
