Herein, we demonstrated the effectiveness of a communication support system by developing a voice-driven embodied entrainment character "InterActor", which automatically generates body movements, such as nodding, based on a user's speech. As nodding is generally perceived as a positive and an agreeability gesture, the system evaluation in previous studies may have been more favorable. Therefore, in this study, we developed a character that automatically generates non-agreeable reactions, such as "the terrible twos" to examine the relationship with the degree of entrainment. Additionally, the effectiveness of the developed system was evaluated, based on the result of a user test at a science experience event for children as well as a speech experiment.

With the upcoming enforcement of the EU AI Act, documentation of high-risk AI systems and their risk management information will become a legal requirement playing a pivotal role in demonstration of compliance. Despite its importance, there is a lack of standards and guidelines to assist with drawing up AI and risk documentation aligned with the AI Act. This paper aims to address this gap by providing an in-depth analysis of the AI Act's provisions regarding technical documentation, wherein we particularly focus on AI risk management. On the basis of this analysis, we propose AI Cards as a novel holistic framework for representing a given intended use of an AI system by encompassing information regarding technical specifications, context of use, and risk management, both in human- and machine-readable formats. While the human-readable representation of AI Cards provides AI stakeholders with a transparent and comprehensible overview of the AI use case, its machine-readable specification leverages on state of the art Semantic Web technologies to embody the interoperability needed for exchanging documentation within the AI value chain. This brings the flexibility required for reflecting changes applied to the AI system and its context, provides the scalability needed to accommodate potential amendments to legal requirements, and enables development of automated tools to assist with legal compliance and conformity assessment tasks. To solidify the benefits, we provide an exemplar AI Card for an AI-based student proctoring system and further discuss its potential applications within and beyond the context of the AI Act.

With electric vehicles gradually replacing traditional petrol vehicles in the globalmarket, charging stations usually provide a variety of different charging scenarios and modes to meet the needs of users in different usage scenarios. How to help brands establish standardized charging spaces in the US and China based on local user needs is a problem that needs to be solved. In this paper, we will take China and the United States, which have an advanced position in the global EV market, as an example, and use the exact same design research method to explore their charging space markets, investigate their user experiences, and ultimately compare and analysis them to draw conclusions that will help brands to establish standard charging spaces in China and the United States, as well as provide valuable references to the standardization of charging spaces on a global scale. Firstly, this paper will explore the charging space market in the two regions through literature review, cultural probes, and expert interviews;secondly, it will investigate the user experience in the two regions through observations, questionnaires, and interviews;and finally, it will compare and analysis the above data to drawconclusions. The final conclusions will be used to support the design of branded standardized charging spaces in China and theUS and provide a reference for globalization and standardization.

The field of Knowledge Tracing (KT) aims to understand how students learn and master knowledge over time by analyzing their historical behaviour data. To achieve this goal, many researchers have proposed KT models that use data from Intelligent Tutoring Systems (ITS) to predict students' subsequent actions. However, with the development of ITS, large-scale datasets containing long-sequence data began to emerge. Recent deep learning based KT models face obstacles such as low efficiency, low accuracy, and low interpretability when dealing with large-scale datasets containing long-sequence data. To address these issues and promote the sustainable development of ITS, we propose a LSTM BERT-based Knowledge Tracing model for long sequence data processing, namely LBKT, which uses a BERT-based architecture with a Rasch model-based embeddings block to deal with different difficulty levels information and an LSTM block to process the sequential characteristic in students' actions. LBKT achieves the best performance on most benchmark datasets on the metrics of ACC and AUC.

This paper presents thoughts on the use of online semi-structured interviews in a participatory format. On one hand, in the process of interviewing and on the other by using complementary methods such as media diaries and its associated online ethnography techniques. One of the challenges of audience research is the capture of the "audiencing" [1] process, in this paper we rely on two research projects to better discuss and consider forms of doing it, in arid research contexts, such as online and with a (inter)generational dimension.

Worked examples have consistently demonstrated their value in education, serving as the model solutions for solving specific problem types. Past studies indicate that combining worked examples with practice problems is more effective than providing either problems or examples in isolation. Despite these findings, the exploration of the effects of grouping worked examples and problems for programming practice is limited, especially in learning environments designed for practice. This paper compares two content organization approaches in a practice system. The first one is explicitly connecting worked examples and completion problems, allowing students to access them in smaller bundles. The other one is delivering the same set of activities separately but keeping an implicit connection by grouping them under a topic. We examined the effects of these two approaches on student engagement and performance in a semester-long classroom experiment conducted in a CS1 programming course. The results indicate that explicitly connecting worked examples and completion problems increased engagement with the completion problems and supported problem-solving performance by leading to higher success rates and persistence.

Increasingly, the public sector faces cybersecurity threats and is attacked by both criminals and hacktivists. Targets of such attacks are most often critical infrastructures. The repercussions of such attacks extend beyond technical systems, impacting social, organizational, and economic realms. As cyber threats proliferate and prevention becomes challenging, effectively managing the aftermath of a cyberattack, i.e. a cybercrisis, becomes more important. This article delves into a lesser-explored aspect of digital government research and investigates the impact of cyberattacks on trust relationships within the public sector. Moreover, it sheds light on the strategies employed by affected organizations to restore trust. The article uses the case of five municipalities affected by a recent large-scale cyberattack on a regional IT-provider in Germany. Drawing on a comparative case study, it investigates the complex interplay between cybercrises and trust, emphasizing the potential of trust repair tactics in mitigating the negative impacts of a trust transgression in the public sector.

Web archives play a crucial role in preserving the digital history of the internet, given the inherent volatility of websites that constantly undergo modifications, content updates, and migrations, or even cease to exist altogether. Web archives ensure that present and historical web information will be available in the future for researchers, historians, students, corporations, and general public. Given their importance, it is essential for web archives to be equally accessible to everyone, including those with visual disabilities. In the absence of a prior in-depth investigation in this regard, this paper examines the status-quo accessibility and usability of five popular web archives for people who are blind. Specifically, we analyzed reports generated by an automated accessibility checker tool and also collected feedback from a user study with 10 blind screen reader users. The analysis of accessibility reports revealed issues that were common across the different archives, including a lack of text alternatives for images and the absence of proper aria labels. The user study showed that blind users struggled to do even basic search tasks to locate desired mementos or snapshots of websites saved in the archives. The participants also explicitly indicated that they found it strenuous to interact with web archives. Informed by these findings, we provide accessibility design suggestions for archives' web developers and assistive technology developers.

Composable protocols for Multi-Party Computation that provide security with Identifiable Abort against a dishonest majority require some form of setup, e.g. correlated randomness among the parties. While this is a very useful model, it has the downside that the setup's randomness must be programmable, otherwise security becomes provably impossible. Since programmability is more realistic for smaller setups (in terms of number of parties), it is crucial to minimize the correlation complexity (degree of correlation) of the setup's randomness. We give a tight tradeoff between the correlation complexity beta and the corruption threshold t. Our bounds are strong in that beta-wise correlation is sufficient for statistical security while beta - 1-wise correlation is insufficient even for computational security. In particular, for strong security, i.e., t < n, full n-wise correlation is necessary. However, for any constant fraction of honest parties, we provide a protocol with constant correlation complexity which tightens the gap between the theoretical model and the setup's implementation in the real world. In contrast, previous state-of-the-art protocols require full n-wise correlation regardless of t.

Designing of the function interface is one of the key skills in programming. That requires feedback, which can be generated in the necessary quantity only by an intelligent tutoring system. In this paper, we propose a method of extracting function descriptions from inline comments in open-source code and find noun phrases that describe the data items passed to and returned from the function. We compare two popular NLP tools for parsing sentences and two different similarity measures to find the best-performing combination and develop sophisticated methods of filtering functions to increase the percentage of correctly marked functions. We achieved correctly marking more than 80% of the automatically selected functions, which significantly speeds up creating banks of learning problems for intelligent tutoring systems in programming learning.
