With the fast and radical transformation of how both students and instructors can access information brought on by the development of generative AI, it is critical to develop best practices around how generative AI is used to support instruction and learning rather than being a detriment. In this paper, we examine how generative AI could be integrated into the Exercisable Learning-theory and EVidence-based Andragogy for Training Effectiveness (ELEVATE) framework developed by Stanney, Skinner, and Hughes [1] to inform adaptive approaches to instruction. Originally developed for designing eXtended Reality (XR) training experiences, the ELEVATE framework incorporates learning theories from behaviorism, cognitivism, and constructivism into a cohesive framework based on the Dreyfus and Dreyfus [2] skill acquisition model and Bloom's Revised Taxonomy [3]. The ELEVATE framework offers guidance for developing appropriate expectations and forms of instruction for students at 5 proficiency levels: novice, advanced beginner, competent, proficient, expert. The ELEVATE framework identifies language for appropriate learning objectives and types of learning activities that would be appropriate for students of different proficiency levels.

Technostress in distance learning in educational institutions is a critical problem as it strongly impacts students' learning ability and mental well-being. This phenomenon, characterized by an overload of digital technologies, has a detrimental effect on the efficiency of educational processes and learners' mental health. The Positive Learning project involves developing and evaluating learning scenarios anchored in pedagogical methodologies and competency frameworks to reduce technostress in educational institutions through carefully designed teaching strategies. The study's results, derived from a qualitative research methodology and collaboration with educators and academic experts, underscore the need to adapt learning scenarios to the target group and differentiate them for different school levels and educational contexts to reduce technostress. They also emphasize the crucial role of balancing technological integration and traditional teaching methods and the development of skills among students and teachers to manage technostress effectively. The study's practical implications are significant, offering insightful conclusions and recommendations that can inspire and motivate future educational policies and practices in the face of increasing digital integration in education.

We have developed a dashboard that aids teachers in monitoring the need for support that students may have while constructing qualitative representations. The software features a built-in automated support function that provides cues and hints when students' representations deviate from the norm representation. The dashboard is thereby part of a hybrid support approach where teacher-, student-, dashboard-, and software-initiated support are available. We observed teachers' use of the dashboard during three lessons. Teachers used the dashboard frequently and the most common subsequent support action involved general encouragements for students to progress or to correct errors in their representations. After the lessons we interviewed the teachers for the usability, usefulness, effectiveness, and efficiency of the dashboard. Teachers find the dashboard informative and easy to use. However, they also report to find it challenging to implement the dashboard in their routine for providing support.

Critical infrastructures are large and complex systems showing physical, geographical, cyber, and logical interdependencies. Assessing the consequences of faults, cyber-attacks, or natural events on critical infrastructures is fundamental to mitigate the impact of these events and to improve the resilience of the entire "system of systems". Modeling critical infrastructures is a way to understand how networks are interconnected and increase awareness. Our paper proposes a well-established framework for decomposing each infrastructure into its meaningful elements and their interconnections using the Mixed Holistic-Reductionist approach. CISIApro 2.0 is an agent-based simulator that implements the previous methodology. In this paper, we improve the framework using possibility theory to handle epistemic uncertainty. In contrast to randomness, epistemic uncertainty is caused by incomplete, ambiguous, or inaccurate knowledge. This is a problem in the modeling of critical infrastructures, due to the complexity of the physical process, the vagueness of telecommunications, and imprecise information. Including possibility and necessity measures in the CISIApro 2.0 simulator allows us to handle uncertainty in the propagating information in the model. The synthetic model is composed of eight interconnected infrastructures. The model output demonstrates the reasonableness of the proposed approach, although there is a need for further improvements, especially with regard to parameter tuning.

This paper explores the development and initial evaluation of SoarTech Adaptive Training Services (STATS), a modular ecosystem designed to address the limitations of traditional intelligent tutoring systems (ITSs). By adopting Gibbon's [1] layers theory, STATS introduces a structured, service-based approach to ITSs, enhancing adaptability and efficiency. The paper reviews the historical evolution of ITSs, highlighting the shift from rigid architectures to modular, flexible designs. Through a case study in a basic electricity and electronics course, STATS demonstrates its practical application and potential for personalized learning. Initial feedback from 18 participants indicates positive responses towards the system's effectiveness and efficiency, though usability challenges, particularly in interface navigation, were identified. The study underscores the importance of modular design in overcoming the historical challenges of ITS development, such as domain dependence and siloed research. Future directions for STATS include deeper exploration of its layers, exploration of ethical considerations in algorithmic decision-making, and the exploration of interoperability as STATS leverages services from other frameworks like GIFT [2]. This research contributes to the ongoing discourse on the necessity of modular, adaptable ITSs in meeting diverse educational needs and advancing the field of intelligent tutoring.

This study explores the application of Participatory Design (PD) in the development of a frontend system, involving collaboration between designers and end-users. The methodology emphasizes user involvement throughout the design process, encompassing requirement analysis, evaluation, and active participation in design creation. This is realized by the steps of an information event, a GUI-Workshop, and a survey ensuring the involvement of the user in the design process. While feedback from two participating companies indicates a positive reception of the approach, the lack of a comparative study restricts definitive conclusions regarding its impact on user attitudes and system usage. Consequently, to validate our findings, we therefore recommend further comparable studies.

Authoring survey or review articles still requires significant tedious manual effort, despite many advancements in research knowledge management having the potential to improve efficiency, reproducibility, and reuse. However, these advancements bring forth an increasing number of approaches, tools, and systems, which often cover only specific stages and lack a comprehensive workflow utilizing their task-specific strengths. We propose the Streamlined Workflow Automation for Machine-actionable Systematic Literature Reviews (SWARM-SLR) to crowdsource the improvement of SLR efficiency while maintaining scientific integrity in a state-of-the-art knowledge discovery and distribution process. The workflow aims to domain-independently support researchers in collaboratively and sustainably managing the rising scholarly knowledge corpus. By synthesizing guidelines from the literature, we have composed a set of 65 requirements, spanning from planning to reporting a review. Existing tools were assessed against these requirements and synthesized into the SWARM-SLR workflow prototype, a ready-for-operation software support tool. The SWARM-SLR was evaluated via two online surveys, which largely confirmed the validity of the 65 requirements and situated 11 tools to the different life-cycle stages. The SWARM-SLR workflow was similarly evaluated and found to be supporting almost the entire span of an SLR, excelling specifically in search and retrieval, information extraction, knowledge synthesis, and distribution. Our SWARM-SLR requirements and workflow support tool streamlines the SLR support for researchers, allowing sustainable collaboration by linking individual efficiency improvements to crowdsourced knowledge management. If these efforts are continued, we expect the increasing number of tools to be manageable and usable inside fully structured, (semi-)automated literature review workflows.

In the article On Extended Z-triples (1981), David Lewin proved that Z-sets introduced by Allen Forte, which are neither transposed nor inverted forms and which have the same interval vector are not necessarily pairs. In a N = 16 degrees equal temperament, he exhibited triples of pcsets which are Z-associated. In this paper, we give a general formula for all homometric triples of pentachords, and some new methods to construct homometric multiplet.

Previous research on Proximization Theory has mainly focused on the perspective of discourse production. This study attempts to compare the differences between discourse spaces of production and reception, specifically examining the differences in theme distribution in the two spaces, as well as discourse production and reception strategies from the perspective of Proximization Theory. Through thematic analysis and close reading, this study analyzes reports and comments on the incident of "Nuclear Wastewater Discharge from Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant in Japan" on the news aggregation website Reddit. The findings are as follows: 1) The themes in the discourse space of reception show significant expansion and exhibit an attitude of resistant reading;2) The original report text, in order to deconstruct the legitimacy of Japan's wastewater discharge, employs spatial, temporal, and axiological proximization strategies, with spatial proximization being predominant;3) Readers in the discourse space of reception employ five discourse strategies.
