The world population is aging rapidly, and the health and care issues of the elderly are receiving increasing attention. The application of elderly smart wearable devices, represented by smartwatches, in health monitoring, is becoming more widespread. Based on the above background, a smartwatch interaction design strategy centered on elderly users is proposed to address the problem of low aging adaptability in current smartwatch design. The Kano model, hierarchical analysis method, and QFD method are integrated into the smartwatch interaction design process. Firstly, focusing on elderly users as the target, Kano was used to study user requirements, resulting in 24 user requirements classified by their attributes. Secondly, the AHP model was employed to establish the analysis matrix of the requirement indicators and determine the comprehensive weighting values of different requirement indicators. Subsequently, QFD was utilized to analyze the finalized user requirements, enabling the determination of the core design factors for smartwatch interaction design. Finally, the design scheme was conducted based on the design factors, followed by evaluation and usability testing to verify the reasonableness and feasibility of the design model and scheme.

Much research has highlighted the impressive capabilities of large language models (LLMs), like GPT and Bard, for solving introductory programming exercises. Recent work has shown that LLMs can effectively solve a range of more complex object-oriented programming (OOP) exercises with text-based specifications. This raises concerns about academic integrity, as students might use these models to complete assignments unethically, neglecting the development of important skills such as program design, problem-solving, and computational thinking. To address this, we propose an innovative approach to formulating OOP tasks using diagrams and videos, as a way to foster problem-solving and deter students from a "copy-and-prompt" approach in OOP courses. We introduce a novel notation system for specifying OOP assignments, encompassing structural and behavioral requirements, and assess its use in a classroom setting over a semester. Student perceptions of this approach are explored through a survey (n = 56). Generally, students responded positively to diagrams and videos, with video-based projects being better received than diagram-based exercises. This notation appears to have several benefits, with students investing more effort in understanding the diagrams and feeling more motivated to engage with the video-based projects. Furthermore, students reported being less inclined to rely on LLM-based code generation tools for these diagram and video-based exercises. Experiments with the vision-based capabilities of GPT-4 and Bard revealed that they currently fall short in generating accurate code solutions from these visual specifications.

The unprecedented scale at which personal data is used to train machine learning (ML) models is a motivation to examine the ways in which it can be erased when implementing the GDPR's 'right to be forgotten'. The existing literature investigating this right focus on a purely technical or legal approach, lacking the collaboration required for this interdisciplinary space. Recent works has identified there is no one solution to erasure in ML and this must therefore be decided on a case-by-case basis. However, there is an absence of guidance for controllers to follow when personal data must be erased in ML. In this paper we develop a novel, decision-making flow that encompasses the necessary considerations for a controller. Addressing, in particular, the interdisciplinary considerations relevant to the EU GDPR and data protection scholarship, as well as concepts from computer science and its application in industry. This results in several optimal solutions for the controller and data subject, differing with levels of erasure. To validate the proposed decision-making flow a real case study is discussed throughout the paper. The paper highlights the need for a clearer framework when personal data must be erased in ML;empowering the regulator, controller and data subject.

Recognising the potential to enhance the television (TV) experience, the integration of proactive behaviours in an intelligent TV assistant is thought to reduce the user's interaction effort and promote a more natural, friendly and empathetic use. However, existing research lacks a comprehensive understanding of the desirable dynamic and features of proactive behaviours in the TV context and their effects on perceived empathy and overall user experience (UX). This paper discusses the appropriateness and usefulness of proactive behaviours in an intelligent TV assistant prototype, seeking insights into their effects on perceived empathy and UX. To operationalise the study, the Wizard-of-OZ (WoZ) method was used to analyse users' perceptions of the design of the proactive scenarios that compose the prototype. The results showed that the prototype provided a good UX and was perceived as being empathetic. However, although all proactive scenarios were seen as useful some issues related to their suitability to the user's context and preferences were identified. The results of this study provide significant contributions to the TV domain, highlighting users' propensity to adopt proactive TV assistants and emphasising the importance of personalisation for better UX and perceived empathy.

Through product research and user experienceanalysis of hunchback correction belts, we explore product design guidelines that meet user needs and provide a good experience. Qualitative research methods of user interviews and observation records were adopted, and the Fogg model was used as a method for product user experience needs mining and usability evaluation. The design principles of aesthetics, functionality, comfort, plasticity, ease of use, and concealment are proposed to effectively improve the use experience of correction belt products;combined with the application of new materials, the product's adaptability to the human body shape is improved, and the final design is both wearable products that are beautiful, easy to use, and can improve body posture.

Taking the digital caves of the Mogao Grottoes in Dunhuang as an example, this paper explores the prospects for the application of game engine technology in the digital preservation and utilization of cultural heritage, and highlights the benefits of cultural heritage digitization in preservation, protection and dissemination. Digital technologies, especially game engine technologies, provide immersive and interactive experiences that overcome the limitations of space and time. This paper discusses the potential of game engine technologies to enhance the narrative, educational value and public engagement of cultural heritage, including a questionnaire survey to analyze public attitudes towards digital cultural heritage and the use of game engines in it. The study concludes that while game engine technologies hold great promise for cultural heritage applications, challenges remain in terms of marketing, economic costs and public understanding. In addition, the paper emphasizes the importance of balancing authenticity and entertainment in the process of digital gamification of cultural heritage, and calls for the resolution of intellectual property rights and ethical issues in the field to further promote the use of game engine technology in the field of cultural heritage preservation and access.

When bus manufacturing companies move forward in their servitization journey for providing service solutions for tourism industry, there is an increasing need to exploit the prototype way to support the realization of design solutions in the early stages of the Product Service System (PSS) design. Digital twin, a new emerging and fast growing technology which connects the physical and virtual world, has attracted much attention worldwide recently. This paper presents a new method for PSS design based on the digital twin approach. The development of product design is briefly introduced first. The framework of digital twin approach is then proposed and analysed. The main work in this research work is how to trade off the 'realism' of the design output of the virtual concept. A case is presented to illustrate the application of the proposed DT approach for product prototyping. Verification activities performed the case in a virtual simulation environment prototype the design concepts in the tourism industry.

Multimorbidity, the occurrence of two or more chronic conditions in an individual, is a significant global health issue. It requires individuals to engage in complex self-management. It is understood that support from a care network, including healthcare professionals (HCPs), is crucial and can motivate adherence to self-management, act as an enabler to effective self-management and guide and reassure the person. However, people with multimorbidity (PwMs) often report challenges in their relationships with HCPs. Digital health technologies have potential to facilitate PwMs to share responsibility in their care by equipping them with the tools to better self-manage and to collaborate with their HCPs. This paper reports on findings from 60 PwM and 16 HCP participants who took part in the ProACT trial, whereby PwMs used the platform for a period of 12 months. Semi-structured interviews with participants resulted in four themes relating to engagement and collaboration in care, including HCP Scenarios of Engagement;The PwMBecoming aCollaborator in their Care;TheUtility of Data;and Towards Integration of Care - Benefits and Challenges.
