The definition is an integral component of the legislation. It is essential to the adequacy and legitimacy of legislation. In legislation, legal definitions are used for clarity, consistency, and legitimate certainty, but also for creating new legal concepts (e.g., personal data) or crimes (e.g. stalking, mobbing). With the advancement in society with technological innovation, the significance of accurate and precise definitions in legislation is indeed more articulated. In order to avoid ambiguity and to ensure, as far as possible, a strict interpretation of Law, Legal Texts (LT) usually define the specific lexical terms used within their discourse by means of normative rules. Due to the continuous increase of LT and a large number of domain-specific rules, extracting these definitions from the LT would be costly and time-consuming if it's done humanely. Definition extraction is widely used in Legal domains to perform legal and compliance analysis. In this paper, we detect and annotate the legal definitions using Symbolic Artificial Intelligence (AI) based on Natural Language Processing (NLP) and fostering LegalXML annotation. The goal is to qualify a very valuable part of legislation for supporting further AI applications also in the judiciary domain. The detection and annotation of definitions are performed on the delimiting type of definitions. The dataset consists of EU Legislation in the span of time from 2010 to 2021 in Akoma Ntoso (AKN) file format. The resultant 15082 AKN files are annotated. This paper presents Z3VR, an interactive simulation of Konrad Zuse's Z3 computer in a Virtual Reality (VR) environment, intended to give users the full experience of working with this historically significant machine. The paper explores other Z3 simulations and VR programming environments and draws comparison to Z3VR in terms of their accuracy and interface approach, where applicable. It details the creation of the project in various aspects and lessons learned from implementing and testing the VR user interface. It further evaluates how effective the project is as an educational tool in terms of teaching users about some concepts of low-level programming, and proposes future work to be done on Z3VR for higher usability and potential application in museums.

Researchers within the digital government domain have debated if the domain is under-theorized. With a surge in publications over the past decade, examining its theoretical progress is timely. This reflection paper assessed theory development in digital government research based on a literature review of 41 articles in leading digital government journals. Our findings revealed a preponderance of theoretical extensions based on theories in other domains as well as "unfinished" digital government theories, indicating a need for further development and refinement of the domain's theories. We further posit that theory testing is a necessary step towards strengthening the theoretical underpinnings of digital government research, and calls for more empirical work to validate, challenge, and refine existing theories, fostering the establishment of a solid theoretical foundation for the domain. In addition, we make suggestions for further research.

In the context of the smart era, in-car human-machine interaction (HMI) faces newopportunities and challenges. Voice interaction, as a crucial mode of HMI, presents fresh possibilities for a superior user experience (UX) in in-car interactions. Currently, Porsche, as a traditional automotive company, has certain shortcomings in the design of voice interaction and voice digital assistants (DA). This project addresses these gaps by approaching innovation and improvement in the DA domain from two dimensions: Visual Design (Avatar) and Dialogue Design. Following the principles of human-centered design (HCD), this initiative aims to provide feasible solutions for Porsche's transition towards intelligent in-car HMI.

Smart kitchens can facilitate aging in place, improve older adults' autonomy in cooking, and reduce household injuries. Understanding the experiences of older adults can improve smart kitchen accessibility, acceptance, usability, and design. In this qualitative descriptive study, a Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) describes the user experience of thirteen older adult women in a smart kitchen. Participants prepared a standardized recipe in a smart kitchen and were interviewed with semi-structured questions afterward. Data was analyzed according to TAM, and four themes were identified: ease-of-use, perceived usefulness, attitude towards use, and intention-to-use. Ease-of-use was hindered by the participants' technological competence and the smart kitchen's innovative design, leading to challenges in physical and cognitive accessibility. However, participants perceived the smart kitchen to be easy to use. Regarding perceived usefulness, notable benefits included preventing ergonomic risks and enhancing usability for individuals using wheelchairs. However, there was a common belief that smart kitchens are more suited for younger individuals than for older adults. Regarding attitudes towards use, there was a perceived interest in using technological devices in the kitchen, provided they are not overly complex. The intention to use smart kitchens is influenced by a lack of knowledge regarding their existence and usability. It is important to implement training and awareness so clients can correctly use smart kitchens and perceive their benefits to improve adoption.

Developing graduates' future-ready employability skills such as communication, critical thinking, and collaborative problem-solving has become increasingly crucial. The aim is to demonstrate how Peer Assess Pro transforms academic group work into a meaningful exercise for the development of future-ready employability skills.

This paper explores robot labor imaginaries and relates this to robot process automation (RPA) in Swedish municipal contexts. The point of departure is the fact that the word robot means slave and that unequal labor relations in which slavery and oppression of workers in the name of profit are central in robot imaginaries. Even though robot process automation (RPA) is software, its name places it as part of these imaginaries. Based on this, the aim of the study is to explore imaginaries of robot labor related to work with RPA in Swedish local government contexts. We use three vignettes from different Swedish municipalities to illustrate how robot imaginaries and worker norms unfold in this context. This is discussed in relation to research on imaginaries of robot slavery, permeable boundaries between humans and robots, and hopes and fears of robot servants. We contribute with deeper insights into the underlying assumptions that guide expectations and actions in RPA adoption and use.

The issue of generalizing and concentrating learning situation data in human learner interaction with ITS is described. The resolution of this issue is important for making reasoned decisions that are considered credible by a human learner. Various approaches to data concentration and visualization are considered, among which mapping has a special place. Using the example of the Cognitive Maps of Knowledge Diagnosis (CMKD) method, it is shown how data can be generalized by concentrating them into parametric maps and then forming and visualizing a combined map. The algorithm of synthesizing the combined map and the principle of its interpretation are given. An experiment with master's students who interpreted and evaluated ITS recommendations accompanied by different types of maps in CMKD notation is described. The data example of one of the master's students studying the "Intelligent Data Analysis" course shows the process of visualization of data about the learning situation. The analysis of the experimental results showed an increased effectiveness of ITS decision perception when using the data from the combined map and visualizing its simplified fragment.

The internet of things, social media and other technological developments have a created a situation in which more and more sensitive data is being exchanged between government and semi-government organizations. However, sharing confidential data presents complex challenges that are not only confined to technological factors but are also inclusive of social aspects such as data governance. This article therefore promotes a data-centric approach to data exchange, deriving principles for the secure exchange of government data across confidential networks. Due to the potential advantages that data-driven decision-making brings to government organizations, significant pressure is often placed on government organizations to publish and exchange classified data or privacy sensitive data with cooperating government organizations or even with allied countries across classified networks. For example, it is often difficult to assess the confidentiality of raw data. Furthermore, data leaks and ransoming of data have become a common occurrence which often have wide-ranging and unforeseen consequences. More and more, government organizations are looking beyond traditional security methods towards a more data-centric approach, whereby data is positioned at the foundation of decision-making and operations regarding risk management. This approach acts as a means to gain control over the secure exchange of confidential and sensitive data so that the right people continue to have access to the right data at the right time whilst simultaneously ensuring that the wrong people do not gain access to confidential data. However, secure data exchange viewed from a data-centric perspective has been given little attention to date. This article outlines a systematic review of literature on data-centric approaches to data exchange. The analysis of physiological data can provide valuable information on the mental state of users interacting with a technical system, such as an intelligent tutoring system. By obtaining live estimations of mental workload a learning system can adapt, e.g., the level of difficulty of tasks to the learners needs. However, the analysis and interpretation of physiological data usually requires a baseline recording at a rested state prior to or after a task limiting their practical value. Additionally, the baseline of a physiological measure cannot be considered as a stable value but varies between days and even within a day interpersonally, so the validly calibrated data of a baseline become invalid over time limiting its value for long term use cases. This paper proposes a new method for near real time mental workload estimation. A machine learning model which predicts the mental workload based on the heart rate variability (HRV) derives metrics without the necessity of baseline recordings. First, a machine learning model is trained on a dataset of previously collected physiological data and corresponding mental workload ratings. Subsequently, physiological measures are collected continuously from a participant throughout tasks. The model is then used to predict the participant's mental workload in real time based on the HRV data. The results of our pilot study show first empirical support, that the proposed analysis technique is able to estimate mental workload in near real time with an accuracy of 90%. As this technique does not depend on baseline recordings it has the potential to be specifically valuable in applied settings such as adaptive training systems or to monitor the mental health of workers in safety-critical industries. The method could also be extrapolated for the analysis of other physiological measures in future research.
