Wearable technology has emerged as a key focus in both academic research and industry applications, especially in sports, where data gathering and analysis are crucial for enhancing athletic performance. This study proposes a 1D Convolutional Neural Network (1D-CNN) designed for real-time classification of skiing techniques using the Arduino Nano 33 BLE Sense, an embedded system that is both cost-effective and compact. The goal is to facilitate immediate feedback for athletes, aiding in performance enhancement and injury prevention. Time-series data from 6-axis accelerometer and gyroscope were collected to represent four skiing techniques: drifting, snowplow-steering, push-off, and tuck. Data was captured at 20 Hz from an amateur skier wearing the Arduino device on the chest. Model performance was assessed on a test set, reaching a good classification accuracy. Inference time and power consumption were measured considering TensorflowLite models deployed on the Arduino Nano 33 BLE Sense, both with and without 8-bit integer quantization for weights, showing promising results. This approach underscores the potential of using compact neural networks on embedded systems for sports analytics, promising further advancements in real-time, field-based athlete monitoring and feedback systems.

We report high-frequency capacitance measurements and simulations of human red blood cells by a nanoelectrode array imager with submicron spatial resolution. The measurements are compared to numerical finite element method (FEM) simulations within the Poisson-Nernst-Plack modeling framework carried out with a commercial multiphysics platform (COMSOL). Insights on the shape, cartesian position and tilting of the cells on the array are discussed. Two sets of measurements are compared in terms of cell diameter to evaluate the effect of centrifugation on the samples.

Quasi opposition-based Hybrid Thunnus-Parupeneus cyclostomus Optimization Algorithm (QHTP) is applied for solving the Factual power loss reduction problem. In the Quasi opposition-based hybrid Thunnus- Parupeneus cyclostomus Optimization Algorithm (QHTP), stalking properties of Thunnus are hybridized with the tracking and prohibiting actions of Parupeneus cyclostomus. Quasi oppositionbased learning approach is applied to the hybridized procedure. Systematic enactments of Thunnus have been utilized to formulate the algorithm. Thunnus is gluttonous and stalk the Dussumieria at gathering level. Thunnus algorithm competitor explication in the planned procedure and populace in the examination region is comprehensively impelled. Parupeneus cyclostomus Optimization algorithm has been formulated based on the actions of Parupeneus cyclostomus. Few Parupeneus cyclostomus will chase the quarry, others will act as prohibitors and quarry won't realize to escape from the region. In assortment of principal and sub groups are premeditated. Validity of Quasi opposition-based Hybrid Thunnus-Parupeneus cyclostomus Optimization Algorithm (QHTP) is verified in IEEE 118 bus system and 220 kV network.

For cell-free massive multi-input multi-output (CF-m-MIMO) across frequency-selective fading channels, this system introduces and determines the effectiveness of the orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM)-based multi-carrier transmission. The CF-m-MIMO-OFDM system can accommodate a substantial user base and is flexible enough to offer a range of data rates for usage in a variety of contexts. With its scalability and flexibility, the CF-m-MIMO-OFDM transmission network can serve a large number of users at variable data rates. It is proposed to beamform in the frequency-domain conjugate, to choose a pilot, and to allocate resources differently for each user. User-specific resource allocation, pilot selection, and frequency-domain conjugate beamforming are all suggested. The CF-m-MIMO-OFDM system can support a large number of users and can offer varying data rates to accommodate a wide range of applications.

Financial organisations and customers share a common fear about credit card fraud. Credit card fraud generally happens when the card was stolen for any of the unauthorized purposes or even when the fraudster uses the credit card information for his use. As a solution to this problem, machine learning algorithms have been developed to quickly identify and assist with fraudulent transactions. We want to use machine literacy styles to produce a model for detecting credit card fraud in this design. The design must be completed by obtaining sale data from the credit card firm, pre-processing the data to eliminate missing values and unnecessary data, and choosing crucial attributes to train the machine literacy model. The model will be trained with a range of machine learning methods, including logistic regression, SVM. Among the performance metrics that will be used to judge the model's effectiveness are perfection, recall, and best position. By altering the model's characteristics and parameters, performance will be improved as well.

An accurate stochastic model of the optoelectronic and photonic section of the interferometric fiber-optic gyroscope is developed taking into account all noise and disturbances sources. The model is validated using experimental data taken from a prototype of the sensor integrating commercial-off-the-shelf components. The sensing element of the sensor prototype is a fiber coil with a length of 500 m. Experimental and numerically-calculated waveforms match very well demonstrating the model's ability to accurately predict the experimental reality. The comparison has been carried out applying to the gyro prototype an angular rate of +/- 0.44 rad/s. Two different modulating signals, squared and sine-wave, have been used for the validation. The achieved results pave the way for the development of a complete model of the gyro, which also includes the readout electronics.

Low-cost microwave radiometers can be built using a low-noise downconverter for satellite TV reception and a software-defined radio. Errors due to system gain and noise temperature drift can be corrected using motorized black body and noise injection. Successful solar observations have been made with such a radiometer mounted on a 75 cm offset parabolic dish. A joint educational project between the University of Perugia and the Technical University of Berlin is launched on this topic to give students the opportunity to practice with microwave systems, antennas, electronics and data processing.

This study presents an optical investigation on Indium Tin Oxide (ITO) thin film used as enhancers in an optoelectronic device designed for the detection of emerging micro-contaminants (EMCs) in water, known to cause risks to human health and environment. The accurate detection of these substances is crucial for mitigating health issues and pollution, encouraging the development of numerous water quality analysis devices in recent decades. Lab-on-a-chip (LOC) systems offer a promising solution for maintaining low limits of detection (LoD), high sensitivity and real-time response, achieving compactness, cost-effectiveness and ease of fabrication. The focus of this research lies in the development of an integrated optoelectronic device based on an evanescent waveguide structure immersed in water, which relies on fluorescence to detect micro-contaminants in water solutions. Specifically, to enhance the performances, a study based on the introduction of a transparent conductive oxide layer onto a polymer waveguide built on a glass substrate is presented. The assessment was conducted using a 540 nm light excitation source due to its compatibility with a broad spectrum of fluorophores. Results demonstrate a significant improvement in waveguide-layer coupling efficiency with an ITO thickness of 125 nm. These findings offer a promising support for the use of such devices in high-performance lab-on-a-chip systems for water quality monitoring.

Continual learning in machine learning systems requires models to adapt and evolve based on new data and experiences. However, this dynamic nature also introduces a vulnerability to data poisoning attacks, wheremaliciously crafted input can lead to misleading model updates. In this research, we propose a novel approach utilizing theEdDSAencryption system to safeguard the integrity of data streams in continual learning scenarios. By leveraging EdDSA, we establish a robust defense against data poisoning attempts, maintaining the model's trustworthiness and performance over time. Through extensive experimentation on diverse datasets and continual learning scenarios, we demonstrate the efficacy of our proposed approach. The results indicate a significant reduction in susceptibility to data poisoning attacks, even in the presence of sophisticated adversaries.

The escalating demand for electrical power has created a widening disparity between generation capacity and load requirements. This disparity manifests in critical issues such as outages, compromised power quality, and, at times, blackouts. The use of Distributed Generation can help in addressing these problems in the current system. To attain maximum reliability, along with technical and economic benefits, precise sizing, and allocation of distributed generators within the power infrastructure are paramount. Factors such as the type of generating units, their quantity, and their strategic placement significantly influence system performance. In-depth analysis employing load flow simulations on a standard 14-bus system elucidates the impact of DG on system losses. The report delves into the exploration of employing multiple DG units to achieve equivalent output generation, thereby expanding the scope of potential solutions. By strategically deploying these resources, not only can system losses be minimized, but the overall reliability and stability of the power grid can also be significantly enhanced.
