This book presents a collection of original research papers addressing the relationship between informationsystems (IS) and innovation. Open, Smart and Network are three keywords that are currently guiding informationsystems (IS) innovation, enhancing IS potentialities and their ability to support decision-making processes. The book discusses the relevance of these three new concepts in connection with technological and organizational innovations (i.e. cloud, smart technologies and networking), and the role they play in the development of accounting and management informationsystems. The books primary aim is to investigate how these innovations could influence informationsystems (with a particular focus on accounting and management informationsystems) by enhancing their information potentialities and improving accounting methodologies, performance measurement systems, data management, informationsystems architectures, and external and internal reporting. The book is based on a selection of the best papersoriginal double-blind reviewed contributionspresented at the 2016 Annual Conference of the Italian Chapter of the Association for informationsystems (AIS).

This volume features a collection of papers on emerging concepts, significant insights, novel approaches and ideas in informationsystems development. It examines advances in informationsystems development in general, and their impact on the development of new methods, tools and management. The book draws on selected invited papers from the 26th International Conference on informationsystems Development (ISD) held in Larnaca, Cyprus, September 6 - 8, 2017. The revised and expanded papers present research that focuses on methods, tools and management in informationsystems development. These issues are significant as they provide the basis for organizations to identify new markets, support innovative technology deployment, and enable mobile applications to detect, sense, interpret and respond to the environment.

This book shows how informationsystems (IS) scholars can effectively apply neuroscience expertise in ways that do not require neuroscience tools. However, the approach described here is intended to complement neuroscience tools, not to supplant them. Written by leading scholars in the field, it presents a review of the empirical literature on NeuroIS and provides a conceptual description of basic brain function from a cognitive neuroscience perspective. Drawing upon the cognitive neuroscience knowledge developed in non-IS contexts, the book enables IS scholars to reinterpret existing behavioral findings, develop new hypotheses and eventually test the hypotheses with non-neuroscience tools. At its core, the book conveys how neuroscience knowledge makes a deeper understanding of IS phenomena possible by connecting the behavioral and neural levels of analysis.

This book examines the relationship between digital innovations on the one hand, and accounting and management informationsystems on the other. In particular it addresses topics including cloud computing, data mining, XBRL, and digital platforms. It presents an analysis of how new technologies can reshape accounting and management informationsystems, enhancing their information potentialities and their ability to support decision-making processes, as well as several studies that reveal how managerial information needs can affect and reshape the adoption of digital technologies. Focusing on the four major aspects data management, information system architecture, external and internal reporting, the book offers a valuable resource for CIOs, CFOs and more generally for business managers, as well as for researchers and scholars. It is mainly based on a selection of the best papers - original double blind reviewed contributions - presented at the 2015 Annual Conference of the Italian Chapter of the Association for informationsystems (AIS).

This volume is a collection of papers on emerging concepts, approaches and ideas in informationsystems research. It examines theoretical and methodological issues related to both informationsystems development in general and the complexity of informationsystems as socio-technical systems. The book draws on invited papers selected from the proceedings of the 25th International Conference on informationsystems Development (ISD) held in Katowice, Poland, August 24 - 26, 2016. The invited conference papers were revised and expanded and present research that is focused on context, creativity, and cognition in informationsystems development. These issues are significant as they provide the basis for organizations to identify new markets, support innovative technology deployment, and enable mobile applications to detect, sense, interpret, and respond to the environment.

This book examines the impact of digital innovation on organizations. It reveals how the digital revolution is redefining traditional levels of analysis while at the same time blurring the internal and external boundaries of the organizational environment. It presents a collection of research papers that examine the interaction between information and Communication Technology (ICT) and behavior from a threefold perspective: First, they analyze individual behavior in terms of specific organizational practices like learning, collaboration and knowledge transfer, as well as the use of ICT within the organization. Second, they explore the dynamics at work on the border between the internal and the external environments by analyzing the organizational impact of ICT usage outside the company, as can be seen in employer branding, consumer behavior and organizational image. Third, they investigate how ICT is being adopted to help face societal challenges outside the company like waste and pollution, smart cities, and e-government. The diversity of views offered makes this book particularly relevant for users, companies, scientists and governments. The content is based on a selection of the best papers original double-blind peer reviewed contributions presented at the annual conference of the Italian chapter of AIS, which took place in Rome, Italy, in October 2015, or in other reputable international peer-refereed informationsystems conferences.
