Energy Transition acceleration coupled to geopolitical stakes has translated into a major worldwide attention for nuclear sector mainly thanks to its capacity to produce stable electricity in a souverain way. Hence, in order to keep up with the high demand of nuclear power plants, it is fundamental to have an efficient project management in order to successfully deliver nuclear projects while ensuring high regulatory requirements. Nuclear sector faces a major challenge, which paradoxically lies in the fact that despite all the accumulated experience in product design, it struggles with managing the associated organizations, which is becoming as complex as designing the product itself. The aim of this paper is to present a new methodology called PDM, which stands for Project Delivery Model. PDM provides a digital framework that harnesses the power of model-driven engineering capabilities to enhance and optimize project delivery. Unlike traditional project tools that are restricted to having interfaces with KPIs, PDM offers a digital framework that enables the dynamic association and modelling of various dimensions of a project with each other. This enables project managers to make well-informed decisions regarding their projects throughout the entire lifecycle, from planning to implementation. By leveraging digital technology and artificial intelligence, the methodology offers several benefits, including the ability to accelerate the initialization of projects, to conduct simulations on the project organization, on the supply chain optimization, and to perform impact analysis of a specific decision.

The friction stir spot welding process involves many complex problems with thermal-mechanical coupling, boundary contact, and large deformation. Among these problems, large deformation is the most difficult to deal with conventional finite element method. In this study, 3D thermal-mechanical coupling finite element analysis based on the Coupled Eulerian-Lagrangian (CEL) method is employed to simulate the friction stir spot welding process of two aluminum sheets. The computational temperature histories at different locations and the weld thermal heat-affected zones are compared with those measured from experiments. The computational results are in relatively good agreement with the experiments. The CEL approach shows no mesh distortion and can be applied for extreme deformation problems;temperature diffusion, material flows, and mixture zone results can be obtained to evaluate the quality of the joint;CEL approach is computation cost where the mesh need to be refined.

Utilizing aerodynamic additives extends beyond enhancing the vehicle's appearance. A strategic selection of these elements significantly bolsters its efficiency, curbing fuel consumption and environmental impact. This study aims to leverage Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to scrutinize airflow around a lightweight vehicle outfitted with an adaptable spoiler-type attachment. Initially crafted via CATIA software, the Sedan-type vehicle model is transposed into ANSYS Fluent for a meticulous CFD assessment of its aerodynamic capabilities. The solution involves applying the Reynolds Average Navier Stokes (RANS) method alongside the k-epsilon turbulence model to solve the Navier-Stokes equations. The investigation presents comprehensive visualizations of aerodynamic data and intricate flow structures, pinpointing the most suitable design for a rear-installed spoiler. Notably, the introduction of a NACA-type spoiler, positioned 100 mm from the rear window, standing 100 mm tall, and set at a 0 degrees angle of incidence, slashes drag by 0.5% and diminishes lift by 66%. This integration remarkably diminishes both drag and lift forces, ultimately heightening vehicle stability while concurrently mitigating fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.

The propagation of acoustic gravity waves in a compressible fluid of finite depth is discussed. The fluid considered here is bounded above by free surface and below by an infinite magnetoelastic layer of constant magnetic field. Frequency relationship satisfied by acoustic wave modes has been calculated. Different physical parameters are obtained analytically. Numerical investigation of the results is given for different progressive wave modes. A comparison of the results of the present problem with the case of rigid bottom is given.

This paper provides a sensitivity assessment of the Item Maximal Area (IMA) criterion parameters within the framework of the cutting stock problem (CSP). The evaluated criterion identifies the suitable couple of an empty rectangle and its associated piece for placement, aiming to minimize trim loss when designing two-dimensional (2D) cutting patterns. This sensitivity analysis is performed using a set of twenty instances of CSP. Computational experiments indicate that the parameters of the studied criterion influence the resulting trim loss. Additionally, appropriate values for these criterion parameters should be tuned based on the specific instance being considered.

Aluminum (Al) alloys with low density are extensively used in ground transport and aerospace applications to attract fuel energy savings. While the additive manufacturing of Al alloys is not new, precipitation hardened alloys pose severe challenges due to their susceptibility to high residual stress and cracking. This study aims to report on the influence of heat treatment in minimizing the surface residual stress and improving the room temperature tensile response of a precipitation hardened high strength Al alloy (Al2139). The changes to mechanical properties will be presented by invoking the process-microstructure-property relationships.

Sub-zero treatment (SZT) is a low-temperature treatment used to improve the mechanical properties of ferrous and non-ferrous alloys. Such treatment is gaining interest on an industrial scale due to the attainable privileges, such as longer service life, better mechanical properties, and enhanced wear resistance. This study investigates the effect of deep cryogenic treatment (DCT) on the mechanical properties, hardness, and surface finish of different soft steel grades. The DCT process, conducted in this investigation, utilized a low-cost setup to carry out an 8-h ramp from ambient temperature down to -190 degrees C at a slow cooling rate, followed by 24 h at-190 degrees C, and then ramped up to ambient temperature at a slow heating rate. Four different grades of steel were used in the current investigation: cast iron, 304SS, CD4MCu, and 17-4PH stainless steel. For all grades of steel, results show an improvement in the surface bearing area of cryo-treated 304SS and 17-4PH samples compared to non-treated conditions. Moreover, enhanced strength and hardness values were reported for certain steels after applying that DCT protocol.

Selecting the optimal combination of vehicle models and paint colors is a complex task that involves multiple and sometimes conflicting criteria, such as application time, viscosity, failure rate, average paint consumption, and total application cost. In this study, we apply the Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) method to rank and evaluate the complexity of application in several combinations of vehicle models and paint colors. By using a real case study in the automotive industry, we demonstrated how TOPSIS can assist in identifying the vehicle model and paint color combination that presents the greatest challenge to the application process. Our findings indicated that the most complex combination is the vehicle 'Model A' with paint color 'Light Red'. This study contributes to the decision-making process for selecting combinations that present greater complexity in application, as well as highlights the importance of considering multiple criteriawhenmaking complex decisions in the automotive industry.

This work aims at demonstrating the potential benefits of using a mineral waste from quarries as a filler of polypropylene (PP) products obtained by rotational molding. A polypropylene matrix was dry blended with the ignimbrite dust (mainly composed of silica and alumina) in ratios up to 30% weight, obtaining well consolidated parts in all cases. However, it can be observed that, as expected, the parts with higher loadings result in a higher number of defects due to the air release hindering. The viscosity of the obtained blends was determined by oscillatory rheometry, finding that the incorporation of up to 30% of the mineral dust is not significantly affecting the viscous behavior of the material. Furthermore, the low particle size of the filler allows for a good distribution inside the PP matrix, obtaining a homogeneous material with good dispersion. The increased amount of ignimbrite results in improved storage modulus, meaning that the filler, even in dust format, is able to stiffen the matrix at high loadings (over 20%). However, increased ratios of filler also result in a lower adhesion between the filler and the matrix and reduced homogeneity of the blend.

Implementing remanufacturing as a strategy to achieve circularity in manufacturing companies offers significant benefits in terms of both environmental sustainability and financial performance. However, the development of sustainable remanufacturing systems is accompanied by various complexities and challenges. Companies engaged in remanufacturing must consider solutions that address the three dimensions of sustainability: economic, social, and environmental. Moreover, they need to tackle the unique characteristics associated with remanufacturing systems. This paper aims to investigate aspects covered in existing studies related to the development of sustainable remanufacturing systems. The methodology involves a literature review focusing on three aspects: (1) the triple bottom line of sustainability;(2) capabilities required for establishment of a sustainable remanufacturing system;(3) enablers that can support the development of a sustainable remanufacturing system. By classifying the published literature and conducting a thorough analysis, this paper provides valuable insights for practitioners and researchers, facilitating the creation and accumulation of knowledge in the field of sustainable remanufacturing systems. Furthermore, the paper aims to underscore the significance of this area of research and identify potential avenues for future investigation.
